Super proud of @teamkapp on their performance at #WJCC2022 Ate is super proud of her #Adings and have full faith in their abilities to build upon this year. It’s going to interesting finding out what the team will look like next season as Magnus & Klaudius age out of juniors and what effect if any home advantage will have since Füssen will host the next World Juniors. The Germans are more than capable of getting over the hump & getting that historic, elusive Worlds gold. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like streaming will ever go back to YT so no chat & it’s unlikely for casuals & randos to ever stumble upon curling games organically given YT’s sophisticated recommendation algorithms that Recast doesn’t have, but at least the highlights are still on YT. It’s ridiculous to keep it limited to the end of the Recast vids that you have to pay for every view.

We interrupt the German curling love fest that has exploded on my IG the past week (because Ate is totally rooting for her Adings to win the World Juniors) to remind folks amidst all the shock & controversy both on social media and IRL in person that Sweden is still number 1 in my heart. I don’t think there will ever be a team that can dethrone @teamniklasedin off the top of the ridiculously high pedestal they’ve been on since February 2018, and no other women’s team comes close to @teamhasselborg in my book either.

When I found out one of the new OC curlers was #Norwegian I knew the fancy pantalones had to come out for just a little bit, but I learned my lesson from the Germany pants on Saturday league so I only put on the pants afterwards lol. Rich is married to Gina - one of the Asian women skips during the first week. I hope Gina skips more games. What Josh Sutor referred to after Saturday’s game as “German luck” struck again. My superstitious side would say maybe I need a different Germany jacket and we need to keep playing yellow stones; Andrew, my Oskar, thinks it’s all about NOT having hammer & rushing the other team He even bled today & the ritualistic sacrifice didn’t work Hopefully bringing in a ringer sub (Clyde) for the 6/2 game will bring on the W. As much as I want him to sweep all my stones, maybe he should call line& Andrew can sweep - he’s used to it lol.

Bill, who taught the skips clinic before league, was totally shocked I was wearing a combo of Norway & Germany tonight. He was already like “WHOA WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?!?” when he saw me w/ GERMANY on my chest, I unzipped my jacket to reveal the Norway jersey underneath. He’s used to seeing me all decked out in blue & yellow. I still had the bracelets & earrings, but I’ve been cheering on Germany at World Juniors so gotta represent - Ate loves her Adings & totally believe they can win it all.

Apparently there’s a controversy because I’m not cheering for Sweden this event There is an established “arrangement” concerning Team Edin & Team Totzek, but since I don’t really follow the junior teams much, this event is fair game. Given that I’ve met Team Kapp before and already am a fan of theirs, I’m obviously rooting for them the whole way.

My #Adings lost the #therecanonlybeone battle vs SCO earlier today. It was a close one during the first half and beyond - it got to 4-4 before SCO pulled away and got the 6-4 lead. Throughout much of the first half of the game, I was like “WTF are you doing Booboo?!?” repeatedly. These young Germans were ballsy and basically psyched Craik into making mistakes which resulted in the YOINK in end 1 and the deuce in end 3, but I was also bracing myself because I felt like it was just a matter of time when that strategy would stop working and would blow up in their face and in a way it did - they gave up a steal that gave SCO the 4-3 lead after the 5th end. That was the turning point of the game for me.

Lots of games left to play at #WJCC2022 SCO & NOR will eventually play & one will lose if they’re still undefeated at that point. I’m hoping for a fierce bounce back for @teamkapp after this - no more losses! Come back stronger than ever You got this! Next week is the last week of Curl SD’s scuffed league & we FINALLY have a #GOATNIKLASEDIN team pic together. It’s the same team I had for the 5U bobspiel - Misty, Bob, & Andrew, & we have a new curler with us - Stephanie. Normally Misty & Bob alternate on who shows up due to child care coverage, but last night they were both available so Bob actually played on Clyde’s team.

I wanted to be all decked out in #TeamGermany gear to wish Team Kapp good luck at World Juniors so against my better judgment, I wore my #Germany pants & it was a disaster My pants kept on falling off!!! I’m not saying it’s solely responsible for our can’t get rid of hammer situation the first half, but it didn’t help. I finally took them off, put on my usual Hardline pants, scored 4, then stole 3. I don’t think I have ever scored a 3 or a 4 against Clyde ever! And he had a team of more experienced men than my team which had 2 women. Andrew, Bob, Misty & I all started league on 2/3/19 (my mom’s bday) & Stephanie is fresh out of Learn To Curl vs Clyde, Rob, & Mark who are past 5U eligibility, so not bad despite the loss. During broomstacking Rob gave me props for being able to throw peel to score the 4. Yea I’m capable of greatness now, I just need more practice & consistency. Dear body please hang in there! I’m refusing to go away. I’m going to continue making men’s jaws drop during league & I can’t wait for the day when I consistently win games. I don’t think I’ll ever get the level of respect men do especially from Learn To Curl students because there’s always an underlying bias (because I’m a fat Pinay) but winning more would certainly make me feel better. Clyde agreed to sub for one of the OC games in June - mwahaha he’s playing lead for me & has to sweep my stones.

#WJCC2022 is being held in #Jönköping right now but apparently it’s such a big shocker that I’m absolutely pulling for @teamdeutschland_curling in the men’s division I’ve had the pleasure of meeting @teamkapp at Curling Night In America taping in Irvine last year & @teamtotzek in Las Vegas during my birthday trip to WMCC2022 (where Ben, skip of Team Kapp was the alternate) & I have to say I keep becoming more & more a fan of the Germans w/ an ever expanding curling closet to match.

It was super fun to watch @klaudiusharsch win bronze at Mixed Doubles Worlds so I’m glad he’s with Team Kapp for this event too. Yes, he’s young enough to still compete in World Juniors & he got a medal at Worlds less than a year after I met him so hopefully there’s more medal winning action for my Germans this year Yes, I’ve claimed them too just like the Swedes #mine

The thing that’s super cool about following the Germans along their curling journey is that most are so young & already scary good so I’m so excited & hopeful to see where they’re at in 4-8 years when they’ve had plenty of international experience. I’ve said it before about 610 being scary good already & the same can be said about the members of Team Kapp. I was impressed seeing them in person in Irvine - they got a win over 2018 Olympic Champs Team Shuster in the US I’m gonna be their Ate (big sister)/Filipino auntie/Protective Mama Bear fangirl for the foreseeable future - same arrangement as Team Totzek’s applies Unlike Team Edin, I get to be on this super major hardcore fangirl experience from the beginning & hopefully by now the Germans know the level of intensity I bring to the table & won’t be scared, confused, or taken aback the way @teamniklasedin members were when I came into their lives

I don’t think I have enough characters left in my IG captions to write out all the stereotypes and memes about this pic We finally got somewhat of a team pic together (we didn’t do it last week). Once again we still haven’t bought drinks, but we’re clearly capable or hanging in there the first half - we were 2-2 after the half vs a team (family) that plays 2 league games a week for 10 years so to hang in there was awesome. I wish I had video of an awesome Plan B shot I nailed to score 1 in the 4th end. I don’t even know what to call the shot because it hit one of the corners rolled across the house, hit another one and then rolled shot buried behind a wall of red (we were yellow). We will keep working on improving.

OMFG I am sweeping SO much as a skip! I still want to lose another 20-30 lbs of pandemic weight and I’m hoping I still have this sweeping power after I lose more weight - it’s technique and not just weight But I’m also hoping my sweepers will continue to improve their sweeping technique because skipper has a shoulder MRI coming… and physical therapy on the horizon again. And I just had hip x-rays today after my MSK specialist appointment. My Swedes *cough Crippa and Nik* and their injuries are contagious LOL. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, unless it’s eye groin JK.

Hard to believe #WJCC2022 is over. Bummed my #Adings had a rough day during the final, but Ate is still super proud of @teamkapp for winning silver. And yes, they won silver! It’s easy to forget that sometimes, but there are some Canadians & Norwegians who’d rather trade places right now In the end, I feel like Craik just had a little more experience than Kapp and leaned on that experience enough to get the victory.

To borrow a page from what Niklas Edin said in an interview about his 2018 Olympic loss - it’s not like they played a bad game, they just faced a team w/ more experience. I’m paraphrasing a little but basically Nik said he lost to someone who was playing in his 4th Olympics (Shuster). 4 years later he got to be the guy playing in his 4th Olympics & the one who took home Olympic gold, seemingly against all odds because everyone & their mom basically already handed Mouat the gold even before the Olympics started. Craik played second for Whyte when Scotland got bronze in 2019 & then skipped the Scottish team to another bronze in 2020. This was Benny’s first year at World Juniors & he skipped his team to silver I’m so proud & my heart is full of hope for next year. @bennykapp @felix.messenzehl & @johannes.scheuerl have 2 more cracks at getting that Worlds gold #Füssen next year would be prime timing Oh how I wish I could be there to cheer in person.
