After a brief hiatus we are starting up our Tumblr account again.

Is this thing on?

Do people still use Tumblr?

What would you like to see from us? Featured artists spotlights? Available artists books and zines on our webstore? Events / Workshops / Exhibitions Calendar? All of the above? Let us know by reaching out via direct message.

Need a reminder of who we are:

Founded in 1999, Booklyn is an artist-run, non-profit 501 © (3), consensus-governed, artists and bookmakers organization headquartered at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Booklyn supports artists and organizations committed to environmental and social justice. We work towards this by documenting, exhibiting, promoting, and distributing their work within educational institutions worldwide. We envision a world in which art and bookmaking are tools for education, personal agency, community engagement, and political activism.

Hello, zinesters and zine-loving librarians! The American Library Association annual conference is returning as an in-person event this year. As in previous years, a team of librarians has been given the opportunity to showcase zines on the convention floor (aka, “Library Marketplace”). This year’s conference is June 24-27 in Washington, D.C. We are seeking applications from vaccinated zinesters who want to showcase or sell their wares.

Tables will be stationed around a “Zine Pavilion,” which will have zines available for reading during the conference. At the end of the conference, display zines will be raffled off to one lucky library. Tables are FREE (we request at least one zine per table for the raffle), and tablers receive a pass to the conference. You can table for any amount of time that works with your schedule, but a minimum of 4 hours would be ideal. You will be able to talk to and sell your work to librarians from all over the U.S. and beyond.

The purpose is to spread the love of zines and zine collections in libraries to the greater library community. To get a sense of how we run the pavilion and for more information, visit our Tumblr: http://zinepavilion.tumblr.com

The zine pavilion will be open at the “Library Marketplace” during these hours:

Friday night, June 24- 5:30-7 pm

Saturday, June 25 & Sunday, June 26- 9 am-5 pm

Monday, June 27- 9 am-2 pm

If you’re interested in applying for a free table spot at the Zine Pavilion, please fill out this form before May 7. https://forms.gle/FYtWwf2cxk4Lq7d39

We will be prioritizing zinesters of color and zinesters local to the DC area, and we’ll let people know if they have been accepted to table by May 15. Please let me know if you have questions and I will do my best to answer them!

Thanks,

Kelsey Smith

We promote, distribute and gush about rad zines from artists and writers across the country. We try to spotlight zinesters who can’t get to zine fests due to cost, logistics, or other factors. We also love to spotlight creators who are new to zines and zines that celebrate or include intergenerational dialogue, children, and seniors.

Elliott Junkyard is a graduate of the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. He will mention this in every bio until he dies because it was so expensive. In addition to zines, he writes queer romance and queer scifi/fantasy. He is also a fiber artist with way too much yarn and not enough time to make things. He can usually be found crying over gay podcasts or doing something witchy.

Late Comeback Press was created by Rachna Soun and Caroline Kim, while daydreaming in our windowless Accounting office, to experiment with print media and design zines without the restrictions of mainstream publishing houses. As two English majors nearing the end of our twenties, we decided that we had made enough excuses for not developing the type of art we had always daydreamed about. As we say, better late than dead!
