#60s music
The Supremes, 1962: “Buttered Popcorn”. Love how subtle music used to be
I said what do you like, he said you know what I like / he likes it salty, he likes it greasy, he likes it sticky, he likes it gooey / he wants it for breakfast lunch and dinner too, he worries me about it til I don’t know what to do
Found some vintage KidzBop from kids’ favorite movie “Saturday Night Fever” as well as this tasteful and subtle album of ‘music for a romantic mood’
To be clear here, there was a whole period of “Music For A Midnight Mood” and “Sentimental Songs of Romance” albums that were reasonably open about the fact that they were intended as the 50s and 60s equivalent of Barry White slow jams, but a woman petting a cat in her lap under the title “Warm & Tender” is pretty overt
The music itself meanwhile is a weird blend of styles all happening at once. Like the title track here: it’s the usual Stirring Sentimental Strings but also the Three Suns’ usual weird bouncy organ and also some Bill Black “raunchy” guitar? I dunno, somebody try putting this on for sexy times and tell me how it goes
