Our least favorite thing about costumes is when the MESH DOESN'T MESH. Too dark. Too light. Just not quite right. Bringing you some of our hand-picked mesh no-no moments.

Half of the Turkish Ice Dancing team with Alper Ucar has this clean-lined black bodice with beautiful bling bling on not skin tone mesh. How distracting! Can you imagine how rad it would’ve been if it looked like the jewels were sitting on your skin? Just dripping in bedazzlements. Your cousins, the Kardashians, are arguing about whether this fashion faux pas will work in their favor or not. Audible sigh.

Not only did you mismatch your mesh once, you did it twice. You did it in your Short Skate. You did it in your Free Skate. Your leg tights, your neckline, your gloves (which make us cry) and your skin tone are all sorts of crazy different. Too red in the tights. Too brown in the neckline. The gloves are just no… No. Your tights went up off your skate. We’d be freaking out too. You may have won gold, but your mesh mishaps make us say “sashay away”.
Adelina Sotnikova and Akiko Suzuki were twinsies during the Short skate.
But who blinged their red strapless number better?
Suzuki’s collar is a strong addition, but the red satin reminds us of a bedsheet. We think Sotnikova wore it better with the cutouts edged in bling.

Sassy bling: upon further inspection, the sultry Valentina Marchei actually has a little bit of multi-color bling in her costume. Plus she always wears the sparkle-tights! But why the nude gloves?? Did her and Adelina Sotnikova plan their outfits together???

Gold Medalist Adelina Sotnikova of Mother Russia performed Rhythmic Gymnastics on ice at the Figure Skating Gala Exhibition.
Just kidding. Sort of.
Though, we’re super into her fluorescent contrast costume! She just looked like a neon Monarch Butterfly. With so much movement in her bling. It was kind of what’s up. NEONS FOREVER!

If you’re still reeling from Queen Yuna being dethroned by Sotnikova (as we are), the New York Times has a nifty breakdown of the difficulties and the points awarded for their programs. Sotnikova scored higher than Kim on 9 elements, Kim scored higher than Sotnikova on 3.
Yuna, you’ll always be Queen of our hearts.

Thanks insta user russian_team_fs! I looove that picture! The very best four russian ladies. Yes Evgenia is now on the top but Russia and figure skating fans cant never forget Adelina ’s and Julia’s olympic season nor can one forget last season with two powerful ladies such as Elizaveta and Elena. Together they are everything!

As for me top russian skaters but results after SP ladies at Russian Nationals show Elena at second, Julia third.Elizaveta ninth and not sure about Adelina. The leader is Evgenia Medvedeva.

I’ve been 20 for a month now. That’s pretty cool. My first month of my 20’s was spent studying probably the lamest part of Medicine…The gastrointestinal system. That’s not so cool.
Cardio went well, it’s currently my favourite block. Our one lecturer is legendary and has even taught my friend’s mother. He is absolutely crazy for ECGs. According to him, one can diagnose almost every thoracic-related problem with an ECG.
I’ve been super into figure skating lately. I am absolutely go smacked by the sbeautu and elegance that figure skaters can exhibit on ice. Some of my favourites include Yulia Lipnitskaya, Yuzuru Hanyu, Kevin Reynolds, Maxim Trankov send Tatiana Volosozhar. If kind of miss the days when I was in China and my cousin taught me some basic figure skating moves. I wonder if I could still do them…
There’s a Swan Lake performance in the coming month performed by the St Petersburg ballet. I’ve heard of how amazing they are and desperately wish to go. I didn’t manage to find anyone to go with, so I think I’ll probably watch it alone.
The new Game of Thrones episodes are on my computer, but I’ve been staying away from it so I can catch it all up at once after exams are done. This is the first year that I’ve had an uninterrupted semester with no holiday, and it’s hectic.
That’s about it, I haven’t used tumblr in ages, so I wish to start posting regularly again. Maybe it start making gift again.
