The, what is classified as downright war by many (European) media now, in Ukraine is really such a sensitive topic. Not only because of the obvious, but also because it is bringing speculations and accusations over China doing the same to Taiwan. And honestly, Beijing seems very silent right now (according to Western media - I have not seen if there’s any statement from the gov in Chinese media yet?). It makes me wonder if the gov is patiently keeping an eye at the conflict, seeing the development and the outcome. If the outcome is favourable towards Russia, I have doubts whether China won’t also be encouraged to carry out their own “military operation”. It is a really scary thought - what happenes when big authoritarian states like Russia and China deem that they can “take what is rightfully theirs”? What is “theirs” exactly? The former USSR for Russia and everything from Mongolia to Taiwan for China? Seeing how the West is hesitant to use the exclusion of SWIFT for Russia as a sanction is even more scary, because in my opinion, it shows the lack of willpower against Russia the Western world has. If it’s not a direct attack on the big countries’ land, it’s better to avoid a big war and just send what looks like “emotional” support to Ukraine. I’m not well versed in Russian politics, and I’m well aware they have their own reasons, like the lack of control and constant fear of the Western powers, but if the later is what made them scared of Ukraine joining the UN causing this whole thing to escalate, one cannot help but wonder if they’re scared of European military in Ukraine because they were indeed planning to do this (and more) for a long time. Anyway, this is just my take on the situation, and I felt like sharing my thoughts so that they might either be acknowledged or challenged.

I’m trying to understand the Chinese political system - after 10 YouTube videos, it seems a bit easier, haha. I was surprised to learn that there are 8 parties besides the CCP in the National People’s Congress (NPC; 全国人民代表大会), most of them having “democracy” in their name (˵¯͒〰¯͒˵) kekw

I haven’t written hanzi in at least half a year, so this was such a workout! My handwriting really suffered~ I’m starting my political economy of contemporary China class - I am scared. I don’t like politics nor economy (▰︶︹︺▰)

University recently started, and I’m already tired. Hope you guys have less work to do than me ah (。´-д-) may the coffee gods keep us going ~

Uff this semester is a toughie. We have a new German teacher, whose English is not the best. She’s never taught before either.. my Chinese subject is going to be hard this year I can tell

I’m going to be using this blog again more frequently since I’m about to start the semester. This semester my subjects will be Negotiating Culture and Chinese Society. I’m very excited to look outside China and more towards the globalized world due to my overwhelming interest of culture and cultural identity. Hope you guys will enjoy your semesters as well! And if you aren’t currently in school, I hope you will enjoy the things you’re doing and working on this year (❛◡˂̵ ̑̑✧)

Last semester I purely used my computer during classes and for studying, because my only Chinese work was based on translation, which is faster on the computer. This semester I am determined to work hard and learn even more Chinese, practice and write down all the Chinese words. It will be very difficult, but I’m ready to work hard! I share this very ugly writing with you guys in hopes that I will improve and go back to my usual more pretty handwritting before the end of the semester.

This is some summer homework my teacher gave us if we wanted to practice…. In my head, I only remember how to use maybe 10-15 measure words correctly. A little embarrasing 。゚(TヮT)゚。

Question of the day: What is your guilty pleasure?

I like to binge Chinese dramas, but not any kind of drama, no. Period dramas with beautiful (accurate!) costumes and preferably with a headstrong lead, but sadly Chinese directors and writers like to make the girls either strong and brave (but still in need of a man, usually multiple men) or timid and “the damsel in distress”. There’s usually no in between those two personalities for the main female lead (πーπ)

The more hate I get from brainwashed CCP trolls, the more fun it is to continue posting about what they don’t want me to talk about

I was going to wish all of my Chinese mutuals a happy (100th anniversary of the founding of the CCP) but I cannot get myself to celebrate the Communist Party after the 2019 Hong Kong demonstrations and the lack of responsibility the CCP has taken to the world since the covid-19 pandemic started. It all looked so well in the 2010’s. China was opening up (significantly more), less censorship, less involvement with Hong Kong and Taiwan. But now… after State Secretary Xi Jinping came into power, it’s just gone worse and worse, and I cannot stand seeing my Chinese friends who are younger than me (freshly graduated high school) eat up everything the government serves them. I cannot stand that everyone, Chinese and non-Chinese alike licks CCP’s ass, in fear of going against them, scared of whatever consequences might come. So I will not give the Communist Party of China my well wishes. Instead, my well wishes goes out to the people of Hong Kong, the uighurs oppressed in Xinjiang, the more than one billion oppressed Chinese living under the dictatorship that is China, forced to live under censorship and other ridiculous rules made by the power-horny members of the CCP. Keep fighting for a better life.

My new books arrived! Have you read either? I’ve started reading more Chinese books - I really enjoy them. I’m excited to read these, although The Dream of the Red Chamber is really long and confusing I’ve heard - maybe I can better get through it, because I watch a lot of Chinese historical dramas haha!

Have a lovely day

This semester has been super duper intense, I haven’t really posted at all because of it. I want to gather some of the texts I’ve read soon in Chinese to talk about, and also talk about some books by Chinese authors that I have enjoyed so far this year! I’ve yet to actually read a book in Chinese,,,,, one day (* ˚᷄ 艸 ˚᷅ *) one step at a time!

Waaa friends, the semester start is pretty difficult, there’s a lot of articles I have to read - both (advanced ಥ‿ಥ ) English & advanced Chinese. It’s very difficult, but also really rewarding to be able to read the Chinese. There’s a lot of focus on literature, especially post-New Culture Movement 新文化运动, which can be seen as the modern breakthrough in China. I’m thinking about posting some interesting points from my studies here in the near future, it would be cool to share my thoughts somewhere. I hope y’alls semester start is going good! Spring Festival is almost here! How exciting!

Life update

  • I’ve done nothing but study lately. My eyes usually hurt a lot by the time it’s time for bed, due to me looking into my computer screen all day. It’s the first week of the semester, and I’m trying to get into the routine of classes and studying. The work amount is significantly more than I’ve ever experienced at university. I have to read about 100 pages of academic text every week, which is about 10 different articles, and read about 2-5 pages of advanced Chinese and do assignments based on the text. It’s really difficult, and I have to figure out a system that makes it so I don’t die lol.
  • I’ve started a new hobby; crochet! I want to be more creative, release some stress. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while. Although it’s difficult, I really enjoy it a lot.
  • I’m in a difficult situation regarding my relationship, it’s time to end it, and it will be very hard. Sometimes you have to do hard things because it’s more good than bad. Doesn’t make it any less difficult though.
  • I’m going to colour my hair peach, lmao. New year, new me. It’s just a semi dye, but it will be good with a change.

It will be a really different year, I can feel that. A lot in my life is about to change. Change has to be embraced sometimes, there will be a lot of personal growth. We will see where life takes us this year. I hope everyone is well, one more month of winter, and the days will be a little bit brighter. Hang on, my friends. 加油

I feel like I’m doing nothing but studying right now haha. I finished my first exam, I think it went well. Now I’m studying a lot for my oral exam, which is a little complicated. I’m preparing sentences for all subjects I might draw. It’s really nervewrecking. I just have to continue working dilligently. 10 more days to go!

Happy New Year! Exam season starting soon, my first exam is the 13th, so I’ll start studying soon! Hope everyone works hard and gets the results that they hope for. Remember: you can achieve anything with dedication and hard work!

Around every week I have a presentation, and my teacher always tells me “your grammar is very good, there’s no problem with the sentences, you understand the text very well, but your pronounciation needs work”. This is good feedback, but my pronounciation is never right! Today my teacher told me the above, but also that my pronounciation is good and speaking is very clear, I feel so happy! I worked so hard, and it paid off. We got this, everyone! Work hard and you will be rewarded, 加油!

100/100 Days of Productivity |

Aaand that’s a wrap! I’m totally in a christmas mood lately - we got a christmas tree, made decorations, baked christmas cookies and I’m almost done with all of the christmas presents for my family and friends.

My exams are not before january. I might be on a slight hiatus until then, posting about my christmas perhaps, as a sort of diary instead of this “challenge”. I’m going to study very hard starting from early january. My exams are once again online. I hope to do my best! Thank you to anyone who joined me for my *failed* productivity challenge! (⭒•͈ •͈ )

92/100 Days of Productivity |

Recently I’m learning a lot of grammar, it’s really hard but also very rewarding! There’s so many complements in Chinese grammar, it’s really hard to remember them all! 加油!

82/100 Days of Productivity |

考试快要到了,我太兴奋了!I’m looking forward to try my best~我今天心情很好,我做了三个星期的作业!

Exams are coming~ I did so much work today, 3 weeks worth of homework (been feeling not too good recently..). Hope everyone are doing well!

粮食

I like grains, here we traditionally eat rye and oat, oatmeal for breakfast & ryebread for lunch. I like the Chinese name for my country, 丹麦。丹dān is a sofisticated word for red, 麦mài means grains. 丹麦~dānmài~Danmark The translation both contains phonetic and semantic (red flag & farming country) value, ~音译+意译!
