【2022年2月13日】 —好久不见— 【政治课】

试图了解中国的政治制度。在看过10段YouTube视频后,这其实没那么难哈哈~我试图把我的猫爪拿走,但最终在照片中接受了它 ♡(ミ ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣̣ ﻌ ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣̣ ミ)ノ

I’m trying to understand the Chinese political system - after 10 YouTube videos, it seems a bit easier, haha. I was surprised to learn that there are 8 parties besides the CCP in the National People’s Congress (NPC; 全国人民代表大会), most of them having “democracy” in their name (˵¯͒〰¯͒˵) kekw

中文作业和我的中国猫(他其实不是中国猫,但他困的时候看起来有点像他来自中国哈哈)(๑ↀᆺↀ๑)

I haven’t written hanzi in at least half a year, so this was such a workout! My handwriting really suffered~ I’m starting my political economy of contemporary China class - I am scared. I don’t like politics nor economy (▰︶︹︺▰)

【2021.8.29】 — 【暑期作业】

今年我的笔迹受到了影响。。。真的难看哈哈哈

Last semester I purely used my computer during classes and for studying, because my only Chinese work was based on translation, which is faster on the computer. This semester I am determined to work hard and learn even more Chinese, practice and write down all the Chinese words. It will be very difficult, but I’m ready to work hard! I share this very ugly writing with you guys in hopes that I will improve and go back to my usual more pretty handwritting before the end of the semester.

This is some summer homework my teacher gave us if we wanted to practice…. In my head, I only remember how to use maybe 10-15 measure words correctly. A little embarrasing 。゚(TヮT)゚。

Question of the day: What is your guilty pleasure?

I like to binge Chinese dramas, but not any kind of drama, no. Period dramas with beautiful (accurate!) costumes and preferably with a headstrong lead, but sadly Chinese directors and writers like to make the girls either strong and brave (but still in need of a man, usually multiple men) or timid and “the damsel in distress”. There’s usually no in between those two personalities for the main female lead (πーπ)

大家好!我最近很忙,我学了很多语法。我觉得语法特别难,但是很有意义。我可以看到我在进步,这很令人兴奋!简单趋向补语,复合趋向补语,可能补语,描述补语,程度补语,数量补语,(动量补语,时量补语,名量补语)。。。我的大脑被炸了!

Recently I’m learning a lot of grammar, it’s really hard but also very rewarding! There’s so many complements in Chinese grammar, it’s really hard to remember them all! 加油!

hanzillion:

艺 = yì = skill, art

So there’s two sides to this character — skills and arts — but they’re somewhat similar related.

艺术 (yì shù) is art itself, so 艺人 (yì rén) is a performing artist, 艺术品 (yì shù pǐn) is a work of art and 艺术节 (yì shù jié) is an arts festival.

When you move over to the skills, you get words like 厨艺 (chú yì) cooking skills, or 园艺 (yuán yì) gardening… but in truth, aren’t those a kind of art too?

With a bit of 才艺 (cái yì) talent and some perseverance, you can 学艺 (xué yì) learn any skill or art. :)

忍 ren

(as in 忍受 or 忍耐) means “endure”. It is made of two core chinese characters stacked on top of each other.

  1. dao, which means “knife”;
  2. and 心 xin, which means “heart”.

It is my favourite word. Enduring anything literally is carrying on with life while the knife is hovering over your heart.

三人行,必有我师

When I walk with two others, there must be one whom I can learn from

“三人行,必有我师” 的意思是三个人一起走路,里边一定有一个人可以做我的老师。这句话用来比喻别人身上可能有我们没有的优点,我们要学习别人身上的优点。

“三人行,必有我师” means “When I walk with two others, there must be one whom I can learn from”. In the metaphorical sense, it means everybody may have some merits that we lack, so we should learn from others.

站得高,看得远 Zhàn dé gāo, kàn dé yuǎn

The higher you stand, the farther you’ll see

“站得高,看得远” 的意思是,站在高的地方,就能看到更远的地方。这句话也用来比喻不能只从一个方面看问题,多考虑几个方面,才能更加全面。

“站得高,看得远“ means the one who stands higher takes a broader view. It is also used metaphorically to indicate that we should view a problem from more than one aspect to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of it.

The adverb “从来” (cónglái) indicates something has always been like this from the past to the present. It is usually used in negative sentences. For example:

  1. 我从来没去过美国。
  2. 她的健康从来都不好。
  3. 谢谢,我从来不抽烟。
  4. 老张这个人开会从来不迟到。今天到现在还没来,可能是有什么事情,你打个电话问问他吧。
  5. 虽然我们认识的时间不长,但我从来没这么快乐过。
  6. 这家面馆儿从来只卖一种东西: 牛肉面。因为面做得很好吃,而且不贵。很多新客人变成了老客人,老客人又带来更多新客人。

一步走错步步错 Yībù zǒu cuò bù bù cuò

One wrong move makes all moves wrong

“一步走错步步错” 的意思是,下棋的时候,如果有一步走错了,那么以后的每一步都是错的。这句话用来比喻如果我们开始时做了一个错误的决定,那么以后的每一次决定都会是错的。这句话告诉我们,做事情的时候每一步都要谨慎,避免出现错误,尤其是开始的时候。

“一步走错步步错” means that in a chess game one wrong move will make all the moves after it wrong. In the metaphorical sense, it indicates if we’ve made a wrong decision, then every decision following it would be wrong. This saying tells us to be prudent when doing something so as to avoid mistakes.
