Alchemist Cookie from Cookie Run is Pansexual!

!!! Main Story Spoilers !!!

(Part 2) Lychee’s Powers

As we saw from the first half of the story, Mangosteen (Lychee) was able to charm cookies and get them to do whatever they wanted them to

To do this, Lychee apparently takes their souls like Lotus sort of did and puts them in a cage

Lotus and Lychee seem to be similar in that aspect

They both manipulate cookies to get what they want that involves harming the cookies they’re manipulating:

Lotus (sort of?) fakes the promise of wishes coming true to drain the life force of cookies to keep their paradise beautiful

Lychee disguises themself as an innocent child and uses their charm to get close to cookies and take their souls which lets them control the cookies that fall for it

Although Lotus’ motives seemed pretty clear (maintain paradise), Lychee’s are still a mystery

They seem to be doing it for fun, but there’s also an underlying motive that we don’t know yet

Their “grand plan” as they’ve put it

Here’s a retranslation of the Breakout Yogurca storyline, from Korean to English.

There’s lots of little personality things changed, as always. Alchemist is more expressive, and Yogurt’s a bit more… bratty? Rude and naive? (I’M AMAZING!). That’s pretty fitting considering in every version besides English, he’s referred to as a (multi)millionaire from a rich family, and that’s a pretty common trope for such characters. English puts the “collector” aspect as being more important, and also came up with him being from a “merchant family,” which I don’t see anywhere else. Lilac, well you can’t gather much from the “…” he has in all languages, but it does originally sound like he actually come close to hitting Yogurt instead of just preemptively panicking.

One of the things I think is interesting is that Yogurca is referred to as the birthplace of alchemy, which actually has some neat connections to the real world myths. Alchemy comes from an Arabic word (al-kimiya).It originated from and was popular in the Islamic world from Egypt to India before translated texts hit Europe, particularly the Kitab al-Kimya… maybe that’s what Alchemist was looking for /joke.

Anyway, that’s just some neat little history. You can read a direct comparison between the English and Korean here. You can also check out Yogurt’s localizationandconcept artposts.
