it’s really disappointing how people’s critique of jkr starts and ends with her transphobia, and they completely ignore her blatant antisemitism, racism, homophobia, slavery apologism, sympathy for the wizard nazis, (the wizard nazi incel) snape’s redemption, the villain of fantastic beasts trying to stop the holocaust, and the new game literally being a rehash of the blood libel myth.
&her ableism, fatphobia, classism, and general naked imperialism(look at things like the “thunderbird” in fantastic beasts, or anything and everything she’s ever said or done about Scotland, for example)

So…JK Rowling’s essay basically boiled down to this:
“I looove trans people. I know a trans person! But loads of autistic girls are told they’re trans and they can’t be trusted to make their own decisions!! Women transition to men so they don’t have to face their own womanhood!! I’m a sexual abuse survivor and domestic abuse survivor which means I am allowed to be a TERF and to attack a minority group that are already abused and face danger daily! Men only say they’re women because they want to break into women’s changing rooms and r*pe them!! Ofc trans women are women BUT BUT BUT it’s not that simple!!1!”
Anyway, I never thought I’d say this, but I hope she shuts the fuck up. I truly do. At this rate, it wouldn’t shock me if Fantastic Beasts got cancelled because of her.

Since some people are unaware of the breadth and depth of JKR’s ableism:
In her award winning(!!!) essay, Rowling explained that she believes autistic trans men and boys (like myself) are not mentally competent to consent to our own medical care.
We’re easily influenced, you see. Gullible. Liable to be led astray by militant trans activists, social media, and the glamour and popularity that comes with being transgender.
JK Rowling, outspoken feminist and champion for the rights of women, wants to deny medical autonomy to “girls” because she thinks we’re overly-emotional, frivolous, and susceptible to peer pressure.
She has spoken directly about her belief that autistic “girls”, especially, should not be allowed to transition because we’re intellectually incapable of forming, recognising, and articulating our own identities, and especially vulnerable to “social contagion”.
But, of course, the law doesn’t (shouldn’t) discriminate, and if autistic teens and/or adults can’t legally consent to treatment of gender dysphoria, we can’t legally consent to the treatment of anything. We won’t be able to access any treatment or medication without approval from a responsible adult.
The ability of trans kids to consent to their own medical care has already been the subject of a court case (Bell vs Tavistock). It was overturned on appeal, but one of the potential consequences of that specific case was that cis teens could have lost access to hormonal contraception without parental consent.
If Rowling gets what she’s said she wants, the knock-on effect may well be that autistic people in the UK lose the ability to live independently.
This is one of the things she’s putting her social and financial clout into. Her ongoing activismisa danger to the lives and wellbeing of all trans people and all autistic people in the UK and abroad.

The more it seems like she actually did get wrongfooted by fans’ positive response to her queercoded characters Remus Lupin and Tonks and decided as punishment for queer fans to squash any prospect of those characters being queer by hurrying them into a heterosexual marriage, having them have a child and then quickly die offscreen - giving both a book full of angst beforehand.
The fact that they had to get married first before having a kid also speaks volumes…

After Harry frees Dobby from enslavement, making him nominally ‘a free elf’ who can be paid for his labour, supposedly because the concept of someone being enslaved is wrong and horrible… he himself never pays Dobby for any of the tasks he then asks of him!

Just Some Random Anti J K and Fantastic Beasts Rambling
The Harry Potter franchise has been tainted for me by J K’s bullshit. I’m happy for everyone who can separate the art from the artist but more and more, I find I am unable to do this. But one thing that frustrates me most of all as an ex-fan, is that they could have written such an amazing series if they had left Fantastic Beasts as it’s own light hearted adventure and made a separate series about Grindlewald with Dumbledore as the main character.
One of the key points in the books was that a lot of Dumbledore’s life was a mystery, meaning they could play around a bit without messing with canon. They could have properly explored an already established character and build up to the great battle between him and Grindlewald and how he became the man we now know. And most importantly, we could have had an epic mainstream fantasy with a gay lead that doesn’t focus on his sexuality, while also allowing him the same romantic plot lines any other heterosexual lead would have gotten.
Instead we get a six second clip that can be deleted at a moment’s notice. We get characters that are pushed to the side, rushed and messily slapped together for the bare minimum and it just sucks.
I sometimes wonder if they had done a story of Dumbledore and done it well (especially his feelings for Grindlewald) would I have watched it? I think it’s important not to help fund transphobics work, but I would also say it’s important to support films and series with LGBT leads, especially with other genres. Thankfully I don’t need to worry about that decision because they bombed any chances of actually writing that story.
