3Jn 1:7 NET For they have gone forth on behalf of “The Name,” accepting nothing from the pagans.

"The Name" (singular/One)

And because there is only one Name- the name of the only Lord and Saviour (Jesus Christ), there is only one way to be saved…saved from sin and eternal damnation. This is stated in the book of Acts; Acts 2:38, …“repent and be baptized, everyone of you in the NAME of Jesus Christ (the way/the how), for the remission of sins (the reason) and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (your visa into Heaven….can’t get there without Him).

Search the scriptures, look at all the baptisms described in the Bible and tell me if they didn’t all baptize in the NAME of Jesus?

We should walk in obedience, and follow what is outlined in the Holy Scriptures!

Forget man made traditions and obey the Word of God.

Blessings to you!

To all my Apostolic brothers and sisters here, please get yourself a copy of this book. It will change your life! God has used the author to expound on so many principles that we’ve questioned for so long. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Freshness

Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of [the manna] until morning.” However, some of them…kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell.

Exodus 16:19–20, NIV

When the Israelites were in the desert headed toward the Promised Land, God gave them a fresh supply of manna every morning. It only lasted for one day, but some didn’t listen and tried to hold on to the old manna, and it spoiled.

When you hold on to old manna—what God used to do, friends who were right for a season, a job that you’re afraid to step away from—it spoils. It won’t feed you. You won’t grow. Maybe you’ve enjoyed a friendship for a time, but at some point, you realize you’ve outgrown the relationship. Or what used to challenge you about your career doesn’t challenge you anymore. You feel God telling you to stretch, to get out of your comfort zone, but you’re afraid. You wonder why you’re not passionate, why you’re not growing. It’s because that manna is old; it’s not feeding you. God has new beginnings. He’s a God of freshness. The manna was temporary provision. God has new provision coming. Don’t hang on to the old.

“Father, thank You for every good thing You provide for me every day. Thank You that when the time on one of these provisions has ended, You are stretching me and getting me out of my comfort zone to bring me into new beginnings. Help me to not hold on to the old, but just let it go. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Who are you? Are you a Thief?

John 10:1, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.”

What was Jesus saying here when He made such a bold statement and what door was He talking about? By the way, where have I entered? Did I enter through this door that He’s refering to or am I classified as a thief and a robber?

Jesus was referring to entrance into the Church How did you become a part of the Church, were you baptized (submerged) in water, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins were washed away, or are you still in sin because you were baptized in titles and therefore, you are still living in sin? If the latter describes the course of action you have taken, sorry my friend, He’s talking about you.

John 10: 9, “ I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

You see, you HAVE TO enter the kingdom through Him. In Acts 2: 37-38, the question was asked and the answer given about how a person can be saved. “…Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Yes, in His name and not titles. After all, what use are titles when we are admonished by God’s word in this way, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deeddo all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”- Col. 3:17.

If you are walking in a crowd at the carnival or airport with your dad and all of a sudden, there’s a surge in the crowd, and you get separated from him, shouting for dad may not help because many dads are in the crowd and your dad may have turned back to look for you, when you went forward looking for him. When you get to a security post to seek assistance, when you tell them you can’t find your dad they’re going to need his full name and if you don’t know your dad’s name, they won’t be able to page him to come and get you. If they knew his name, they could simply page him to come get you at the security post; problem solved. It’s a somewhat similar situation. When you’re in trouble, are you going to shout “father, son and holy ghost help me” or are you going to call on the name of Jesus until your deliverance comes? Use the name, best results!

Furthermore, the Word also says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”_ Acts 4:12. Therefore, as Jesus Christ had said, you are a thief and a robber if you “entered” by some other means and we all know that thieves and robbers cannot enter Heaven, so it would now be wise to turn back and enter through “The Door”, Jesus Christ before the the door closes and time changes to eternity.

The Lord bless you continually my friends.

Living life for Christ Part 1: New year, new me (Setting Godly goals)

Hello! Welcome to the first post for our January theme of Living life for Christ.

I thought a piece about goals would be fitting as I find that everyone likes to set new goals for the new year, though a lot of times they are not reached, I speak from experience.

At this time a lot of people are jotting down in their notebooks that in 2019 they will eat healthier, run everyday, get up at 6am, or get a new job. And those are all great goals, but what about setting some more important ones that not only pertain to your life on this earth but to eternal life?

I saw a post on Instagram that said something along the lines of everyone is looking at their Spotify wrapped to see how many minutes they listened to music this year but have you opened up your Bible app to see how many days you read the word? It drew me to check my own Youversion stats as I was very interested in my Spotify ones and the comparison was insane, Spotify blew Youversion way out of the water. And if was crazy to me because I truly thought I spent a lot of time reading my word.

Honestly sometimes it just happens. You get caught up in the day to day of life and distractions come your way and you find yourself spending your time doing other things. Life is busy, I get it. You get it. We all get it. But it is important to make time for the crucial things in your life. So here is a list of goals for 2019 that I think you should considering adding to your list, and I’ll be adding them to mine too.

1.Read your Bible. Even if you read your Bible now you can always do more. Read every day. Do a Bible plan with friends or on your own. Do an in depth study. Find a new way to fall in love with the word.

Joshua 1:8 (NLT)

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

Matthew 4:4 (ESV)

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’"

Romans 15:4 (ESV)

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope

Psalm 1:2 (ESV)

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

Matthew 24:35 (ESV)

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

2.Pray everyday. Pray when you wake up. Pray before you go to sleep. Pray when you leave your house, when you’re on the bus, when you see an ambulance drive by. Go to prayer meetings at your church. Maybe attend an all night prayer meeting. In short, just talk to God.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)

Pray without ceasing

Ephesians 6:18

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Job 22:27

You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.

Psalm 141:2

May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.

3.Witness. One of the most important things for a Christian to do. Invite a friend, family member, coworker, or a stranger to church with you. It may be scary at first but it’ll be worth it.

Mark 16:15

And he said to them “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation”.

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Jeremiah 1:7-8

But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.”

Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

4.Complain less, be more thankful. No matter what you’re going through, God is still good. Try to stop and thank Him every now and then.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Philippians 2:14

Do all things without grumbling or questioning,

Ephesians 5:20

Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5.Be more forgiving. God forgives each one of us for every single sin we pray a prayer of repentance for. Who are we to hold grudges against other people?

Ephesians 4:32

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Mark 11:25

And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

Matthew 6:15

But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 18:21-22

Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.

6.Live selflessly. It’s important to do things for others and not just for ourselves.

Philippians 2:4

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Luke 6:35

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

Galatians 5:14

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Proverbs 3:27-28

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it”—when you have it with you.

1 Corinthians 10:24

Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

And those are all that I have for you. I hope you consider adding a few to your list and trying them out this year. God bless you and happy new year!

Still relevant today. Happy new year to all you wonderful people and may God bless you immensely in 2020!

Playlist 2019

It’s here! The end of the year and the end of a decade. I was truly surprised by how well my 2018 playlist post did so I decided to make one for this year as well. I tried not to repeat songs from last year but I definitely still listened to them. Hope you enjoy!

Hey all,

This can be a touchy subject, so feel free to keep scrolling.

I grew up pretty sheltered as far as religion goes, and I’d like to understand more of what’s out there. Not that I’m looking for a new church or wanting to convert anyone—though if anyone is looking for a church, please feel free to message me anytime—I just want to educate myself on what other people believe, and I’d love to hear if you’ve had any cool spiritual experiences that you’d be comfortable sharing. Even if you just reply with a link to a website that explains your beliefs like I did below, I’d rather that then try to find the right websites on my own.

I have a few specific questions under the cut if you’d like some ideas of where to start. This is an open invitation, even if you’re not religious, but please be respectful of others. I’m not looking to start arguments, just to learn.

(Throwing in some tags for a couple folks who I know like to talk about religion)

ok ok first i need to apologize that it took me this long to reply, it’s not because i didn’t want to respond, i just knew that I wanted my answer to be thoughtful and then my perfectionist tendencies took over and I never did it - my bad!

also, anyone who doesn’t want to read a l o n g statement of faith post feel free to keep scrolling lol

oh, and one more quick thing: I’m not ashamed of my faith at all but i really don’t want to argue with people on the internet about it. debating is not really my style so if you (and i just mean people in general, not OP) want an argument i’ll probably just ignore you. that said, if you want to ask me any genuine questions/what i said in this post doesn’t make any sense please message me and we can have a conversation :)

my faith background is “Apostolic and Pentecostal”…I used to just say “I’m apostolic pentecostal” when people ask about my faith background but i’ve come to learn that there are a lot of apostolic and/or pentecostals who believe things that I don’t, so I’d rather people just ask me what I believe - like you did, OP!

- What do you believe about God/deity?/What do you believe about Jesus Christ?

My basic answer is: i believe what the Bible says about God. and that may sound a little pretentious but i don’t mean “i have the right interpretation of the Bible and no one else does”, i’m just saying that i am constantly learning. Like, I know that God is loving and kind, but also just and fair. I believe that there is only one true God, and that He cares about me, personally, everyone else too.

that would bring me to the second question, “What do you believe about Jesus”. Well, I believe that Jesus is God in the flesh. Jesus and God and one and the same. There are a lot of scriptures that support this for me, but John 10:30 and 1 Timothy 3:16 are a few big ones.

but while I know and believe all this for sure, i think it’s really silly and vain to think that we, the flawed human beings we are, can truly understand the full essence of God using our human reasoning. In fact, I think the Bible straight up says “we don’t fully understand God right now” (1 Corinthians 13:9-10, 12). there are things that i’m still struggling to understand, and that’s ok. that’s where faith comes in.

I could go on all day about the “one-ness” of God, but if it seems confusing i would really recommend this video from the Bible project about how to understand the Bible saying “God is one” but also describing Jesus as God’s son, etc.

- What do you believe about baptism/ordinances/rituals?

I believe that being “water-baptized” should be your own choice, so my church doesn’t really do infant baptisms because they aren’t really old enough to decide, and we don’t force anyone to get baptized (or become a Christian at all, for that matter) because it absolutely must be a choice. I believe in being baptized in Jesus’ name because that’s how it was done in the Bible (especially the book of Acts.)

and I also believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as described in Acts 2, and the “gift of tongues”. I know for a fact that it’s still happening today because, well, I’ve experienced it for myself and seen in happen many times in others. this is where a lot of people might zone out and label me as a “crazy charismatic” but what can i say? how can I deny that it’s real when i’ve witnessed it myself? I believe receiving the Holy Spirit is an important part of becoming a Christian (see: acts 2:37-38) and it’s freely available, it’s not some exclusive gift that only a few people have access to (see: Acts 2:39).

can you tell that Acts chapter 2 is a pretty big deal for me? lol

- What do you believe about the afterlife?

New Heaven + New Earth where we (God’s people) will reign with God. what does that mean exactly? not sure, still learning.

- Do you have any books of scripture?

The Bible - for me that would be the Old and New Testaments without the apocrypha, just the 66 books.

- What do you believe about prayer?

very important part of being a Christian, gaining peace, and just existing honestly. but other than the few things that Jesus mentions (don’t pray just to look good in front of others, etc.), i don’t think there are very many rules. The point is that God wants to hear from you and He has things to say to you too!

- How is your church structured/organized? (i.e. who are the leaders? How did they get there?)

here’s the thing: outside of what’s specifically outlined Bible, I don’t think any specific structure is right or wrong. this is also a cultural thing because my ethnicity is often associated with a certain way of “doing church” but that’s not what really matters. anyway, i guess this is a long way of saying that i’ve seen to a lot of churches with different structures/the structure of my church has changed a lot over the years so i’m not attached to any specific structure

- Do you have any other beliefs or personal experiences you’d like to share

gosh, so many! but this post is so long already and i’ve been typing for longer than i meant to (why is it so easy to write tumblr brain-dumps, but so hard to write academic essays?) so if you made it this far, please message me if you want to know more! and thank you for asking, OP!
