This piece of paper went through a lot. Drawn on cut up glued re drawn gessoed more drawing. Sometimes when drawing I try to keep the surface immaculate and it works and other times I screw it up which often leads to a more interesting surface and mark making.

I noticed a plant on the side of the road. It was unusual. It looked like a houseplant growing outside among the grass. It was beautiful. Then suddenly it changed. It was huge and covered in thorns. Eventually it was as tall as me, twisted and thorny, like a monster.
