DAY SIX: Intersectionality
There is more to a person’s life than just their orientation. How does being aspec interact with a character’s other identities and experiences, such as race or disability or religion? DAY FIVE: Relationships
Aspec people can have many different kinds of relationships, including romantic and sexual ones—but some kinds of relationships are more unique and common to the aspec communities, such as queerplatonic ones. Queerplatonic relationships are deeply personal and beautifully uninhibited by nature, yet are often overlooked in fanworks: this is an opportunity to remedy that! And of course, let’s not discount the other relationships that make up our lives; familial and platonic relationships are important too! Today is a day for exploring all these different kinds of relationships in the context of Arda.
Secondary prompts: Companionship, Intimacy, Queerplatonic

Once again I’d like to remind everyone that tumblr’s tagging functions are garbage, and that if it’s been over 24 hours since you made your post for the event and I @arofili still haven’t given it a like, I haven’t seen it! Please message me or this blog directly with a link if that’s the case; I don’t want to miss anything!!

Chapter 2: only time will tell

YT 1403: Finrod, Erion, Curufin (and Celebrimbor, technically…)
4A 254: Ausir & Elmo
TA 3018: Gwaihir & Gandalf

Finrod frowned in wonderment. “Is that- is that the baby?”

“Indeed!” Erion bent fully into a crouch and smiled, full of teeth, which always discomfited Finrod greatly. He stroked his chin and gave him a look before focusing back on Curufin. “They have power, but I do not know how much they will be able to do. You are really their blood father, after all. I only enabled their existence.”

“You must count in part as a parent,” Finrod protested half-heartedly. They all knew that Curufin was not going to consider Erion the babe’s father, but he felt indebted to the Maia for agreeing to the insane request. A little pandering never went awry.

Happy@aspecardaweek 2022 everyone! Elmo is totally aroace and Curufin is somewhere on the aroace spectrum. Gandalf is probably as well but I haven’t thought about it lol

@aspecardaweek DAY TWO: LEGOLAS

The only child of ThranduilwasLEGOLAS. Legolas was known for his skill with a bow and for his great love of the forests of Middle Earth. Histories tell us most of Legolas’ time as a member of the Fellowship of the Ring and of his valiance in battle during the War that followed.

The great love of Legolas’ life was not that of a spouse, as is told of AragornandArwen, but rather that of his friends; Tauriel, whom he had befriended in childhood, Aragorn, with whom he had braved many perils, and Gimlihis most stalwart and beloved friend. In his heart these loves were more than the equal of a spouse.

@aspecardaweek DAY ONE: GIL-GALAD

Upon the death of Turgon in in year 510 of the First Age, EREINION GIL-GALAD ascended to the throne of the Noldor. Strangely, accounts of the former High King’s parentage vary within the histories. By some records, he is said to have been the son of Fingon, and by others the son of Orodreth. Records agree, however, that Gil-galad was a scion of the House of Finwë who reigned throughout the entirety of the Second Age until his death in combat at the hands of Sauron in SA 3441.

Throughout this long reign, Gil-galad never wed. Several times this became a matter of political import, wherein councilors and advisors urged their lord to marry that he might produce an heir. The High King flatly refused them all. A king he could be for his people, he said, but the task of being a husband was beyond him.

@aspecardaweek day one | asexuality |ace andreth

Andreth was a woman of the House of Beor, the sister of Bregor father of Barahir (whose son was Beren One-hand the renowned). She was wise in thought, and learned in the lore of Men and their histories; for which reason the Eldar called her Saelind, ‘Wise-heart.’
