Let’s talk audiobooks. I mentioned in a post last night that I’ve got a new audiobook out. And this is the big announcement. Over the course of the year, I hope to bring you lots of new audiobook content and I’m starting with my first book from 2022: Starting Over.
This was a fun way to start the new year of writing and now it is available for all of those people who prefer to listen rather than read. I may not be one of you, but I understand and I fully believe that listening to audiobooks is reading.

A quick casting call!!
This is for a side project that I’m doing— mind my fellow tea servers are right here helping me, because they are my therapy tea servers— but it’s going to be a big project.
This is for the Dramione fandom, a dramatic reading of massive fic. (Measure of a Man, by @inadaze22 — if you are not up on this fic, what are you even doing with your life?) It does have adult themes and language, but not as the majority or even main aspects of the story. I’m in need of some male voices. I might end up making a BTVA post for this, if need be, but I’d like to put the call out here before that.

Let me be an unabashed idiot for five minutes and tell you that I discovered HHP has a—second? third? fourth? idk this dude has so many cashflow streams going on—career as audiobook reader. This is 16 hours of listening to him talk, and holy shit, this book is 18th century Gothic in the best way. Some Spanish abbot who’s very famous and revered for being smugly abstinent and a real jerk about it gets CURSED BY A NUN and as a result has “voluptuous dreams” about a sexy woman with the face of the Madonna that results in “riotous indulging” in picturing her breasts, among other things. Harry does VOICES for the characters, the most memorable of which so far is a Romani woman who foretells people’s doom in extended ABAB rhymed poetry that turns into AABB poetry when she switches talking to different people.
It’s the best $13 I’ve ever spent, go forth and collect your royalties, Harry

First of all, I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!!
Ramona Blue is one of the best books I have listened to in a long time. Sometimes you read a book that just hits so close to home that it is unreal, and this was one of those books. This book is for any teenager who has ever felt like they were stuck in their hometown, who is afraid to hope for something more, and who feels the weight of the world on their shoulders. I don’t feel like there was much in the way of traditional plot, but it was realistic in the sense that it follows a young girl trying to figure out life after she thought she had everything figured out. So many things are addressed in this book—poverty, natural disasters, questioning sexuality (without the bisexual erasure that is so typically found in YA books), heartbreak, absent parents, and learning to live for yourself. I saw myself in Ramona, and I know many other teens will be able to see parts of themselves reflected throughout this novel.

Middle-earth March - Day 21
There are so many brilliant adaptions of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, it is easy to pick a favorite. Do you know the animated movie of “The Hobbit” by Rankin/Bass? If not, you should really watch it! Even if it’s just for the landscapes and the music! Rankin/Bass also produced “The Return of the King”, a movie that follows where Bakshi had left off the story in his “Lord of the Rings” adaption. Then of course, there are several amazing audiobook versions of both works. For the Germans among us: If you haven’t yet, go listen to “Der Hobbit”, an audiobook produced by WDR – it’s magical!
