Hey authors, illustrators, or anyone working on a creative project. I recently opened my book trailer/audiobook/voice over service and if you need someone to produce any of these please contact me at [email protected]! I have worked with clients like Candlewick, HarperCollins, KidLit TV and more and have been working on this service for 4+ years. Here’s what I work on:

- A book trailer for your picture books, novels or comics/webcomics.
- A voice over for your project.
- An audiobook for your picture books, novels or comics.

I use professional programs and have an in-home studio for the best quality work. We will discuss prices by email! Please share the news, especially if you have any friends who need something like this created for them. For more information visit: https://katyastecva.com

Thank you!

@wayfarers97 tagged me to post 3-5 books I want to read next year, and I had the hardest time figuring out which books to pick! I usually just wing it and grab whatever is in my floor pile or go on hold sprees at the library. But then I remembered some upcoming books that will publish this year that I’m eagerly anticipating.

-Solnit because I’ll always read her stuff, and I lucked into a copy of Orwell’s Roses recently and should probably get around to reading it in January.

-The upcoming Nevermoor book should come out in September!

-Mina, Matt Forsythe’s next picture book (out in spring) looks to be in the style of Pokko, which I absolutely loved.

-My friend recently got me hooked on The Inheritance Games, which we both found out is mystery trilogy (curses! I hate a mystery trilogy! I don’t like the unanswered suspense! This is a repeat of what happened with the Truly Devious trilogy. *cries*) and not a duology. So now, like a dummy, I’m waiting for the third book to come out in August.

Tagging anyone who’s up for sharing 2022 tbrs! (@the-forest-library, if you want to do this one!)

- The Merman - I’m very excited to share a personal project of mine that I’ve been working on. A real passion project that has been brewing in the back of my mind for quite some time. They are a series of picture books that are queer revisions/explorations of classic fairytales. The first is titled THE MERMAN, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid. This is an early drawing, and I’m still experimenting with the final look and feel, but some of the inspirations I’m drawing upon are old Man Ray and Brancusi photographs, and Chris Marker’s La Jetée. My hope is to express a more artistically free, but also more personal style and narrative, while at the same time crafting a beautiful art object. The stories diverge from the originals they are inspired from,  though they start with the same premise. It will be coming out this year, and I will share updates here, so keep an eye out if you are interested! :)

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, Carolrhoda Books has released Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre by celebrated author Carole Boston Weatherford and award-winning illustrator Floyd Cooper. The first of its kind, this picture book has already received six starred reviews and is a testament to the people who perished and those who survived one of the worst incidents of racial violence in our nation’s history.

In the early 1900s, the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma was home to a thriving African American community. But all that would change on May 31 and June 1, 1921, when a mob of armed white Tulsans attacked Greenwood. They looted homes and businesses and burned them to the ground as Black families fled. The police did nothing to protect Greenwood, and as many as three hundred African Americans were killed. More than eight thousand were left homeless. News of the Tulsa Race Massacre was largely suppressed and no official investigation occurred for seventy-five years. Cooper’s powerful illustrations and Weatherford’s poetic narrative offer a sensitive and compelling introduction to this devastating piece of American history.

Unspeakable will help young readers understand the events of the past so we can move toward a better future for all.

The squirrels began collecting damaged clothing from around the city. They looked for clothes that were no longer worn. Some were full of hole. Others were thrown in the garbage.

My Family Four Floors Up written by Caroline Stutson, illustrated by Celia Krampien and published by Sleeping Bear Press, 2018.

I got some copies of the most recent book I illustrated in the mail. It’s a sweet story about a little girl, her puppy and cat and follows their day with lots of rhyming, repetition and references to colour. Here is the cover and some interior spreads that I like. The book is available via the Sleeping Bear websiteorAmazon.com (product ships to Canada as well from Amazon).

The Bronx is Writing: Bronx Writers To Read for Bronx Week

May 5-May 15 is Bronx Week, the celebration of the culture and heritage of what makes this borough of New York City truly great. It’s always great to celebrate my home borough but instead of highlighting the great institutions that come out of the Bronx, but also wanted to take the time uplift the Bronx writers that are gracing our bookshelves! I’m so proud to say that there are so many great…

Dear friends, I’m happy to post here about my new book that was published at the beginning of this month.

“My color is rainbow” is a children’s picture book, written by Agnes Hsu, illustrated and designed by me.
The artwork in this book was created manually in ink and assembled digitally.

“Follow Little White Arch on his journey as he wonders what his color could be. Along the way he meets many colorful characters who help him realize the answer. A playful story about kindness, acceptance, and openness that celebrates how we are not defined by one, but many wonderful characteristics.”

If anyone is interested in buying this book directly from me, you can proceed to one of my shops etsy andbig cartel. I have a very limited amount of books and they all will come signed by me (and can also include a special note if its a present).

Thank you for following along and supporting my projects :)

A Bit of Bother is a storybook I wrote and illustrated based on characters from A.A. Milne’s Winnie-The-Pooh, which is now public domain! It’s about sealing with negative emotions. It was read by Sarah Golding. Music is by Evan Schaeffer.

I wrote two other books as well, and I am giving them away all this month to anyone who donates any amount to Adopt A Classroom.

Both A.A. Milne’s Winnie-The-Pooh and Felix Salten’s Bambi, A Life In The Woods are now public domain! So I crossed them over! This story was written and illustrated by me, and read by Sarah Golding. Music is by Evan Schaeffer.

Picking the best books for toddlers can be daunting, and they can be a tough crowd for storytime. Sitting? Not their favourite. Listening? Also not an activity that they are known to excel at.

But these books will do the trick: http://bit.ly/2P5Oi9t
