Okay, let’s do this properly. Let us accept an axiom that ‘words mean things’. Indeed, it’s beyond an axiom, as it proves itself.
Let us expand this statement to ‘words (in other languages) mean things’.
Now, let us expand it to ‘Authors WRITING SHIT DOES NOT CHANGE THE MEANING OF THE WORDS!!!’
‘Avada Kedavra’ does not fucking mean ‘let the thing be destroyed. Yes, ‘Avada’ in Aramaic is ‘(be) destroyed’, but ‘Kedavra’ is not ‘this thing’! ‘Davar’ is ‘thing’, but in Hebrew, not Aramaic! Even if it was ‘thing’ in Aramaic, the structure of the statement means what you’re saying is ‘(be) destroyed like/as this thing’, as ‘ke’ is a modifier indicating ‘like, similar’ and also ‘as’.
However, ‘davra‘ also means ‘word, speech’ (though it can also mean boat when pronounced ‘dovra’), and so we have the logical statement ‘(be) destroyed as this word/speech’, which, condensed into day to day speech gives us the statement ‘Be destroyed as I said/spoke’.
Tl;dr: Avada Kedavra means ‘Be destroyed as I said’. NOTHING MORE. NOTHING LESS. WORDS MEAN THINGS. AUTHORS SHOULD NOT TRY TO INTERPRET LANGUAGES THEY DO NOT FUCKING UNDERSTAND.
