I’m the Dude, so that’s what you call me. That or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.
How do you film a conversation? Most likely, you’re going to block the actors, set up the camera, and do shot/reverse shot. But where do you put the camera? What lens do you use? And how do you cut back and forth? Today, I consider the Coen brothers — Joel & Ethan — and see how these choices lend a particular feel to their version of shot/reverse shot.

White Russian Milkshake
1 c ice
½ c coffee ice cream, softened
¼ c milk
2 oz kahlua
1 oz vodka
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Cover and pulse on and off until the mixture begins to swirl evenly. Blend on high for 20 seconds, or until completely smooth. Top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

Pink Peppermint Russian
2 c milk
1/8 tsp peppermint extract
½ of a 3.5 oz White Chocolate/Peppermint candy bar
1 oz kahlua
1 oz vodka
ice
Andes Peppermint Crunch bits
In a saucepan, combine milk, extract, and candy bar pieces. Heat and stir until hot and chocolate is melted and combined. Do not boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature. In your glass, pack with ice and add in the vodka and Kahlua. Ladle in milk mixture to fill remainder of glass. Sprinkle with peppermint bits.
