#bisexual people of color
As I say daily, “Bi is not binary” (thinking of making t-shirts and a banner at this point).
So grateful for the consistent advocacy of so many fellow non monosexual community members working hella hard to disprove a fallacy that murders bi, pan, fluid, queer (bi+) people by isolating them from each other and the full embrace of a 50 year old bisexual movement started by self described punks, freaks, and waaaaaay outside the binary box thinkers. How dare anyone try to redefine our identity against us.
I’ve decided to protest that wherever I go, wherever I be…sorry/not sorry, if that bothers you…

On September 26, 2016 the White House held its 2016 Bisexual Community Briefing on advancing equality for members of the bisexual community.
The event concluded with Dr. Loraine Hutchins offering a poem in honor of former Starr King Provost the late Dr. Ibrahim Farajaje … AlthoughDr. Farajaje is still deeply missed by many at Starr King School for the Ministry, it brings them strength knowing his legacy continues to be uplifted by those whose lives he touched.

Shout out to the bisexuals out here slutting it up. Shout out to the bisexuals who enjoy threesomes (or foursomes+) and take advantage of those opportunities. Much love to the polyamorous bisexuals and the bisexuals who say they’re bi-curious and those who don’t like sex at all.
Glory be to the trans, gender non-conforming and nonbinary bisexuals. Y'all foine AF.
Hugs to the bisexual+ women/femmes who leave their lesbian partners and eventually end up with male partners and vice versa. Relationships of all orientations end and don’t let anyone make you feel guilty for getting out or for moving forward with whomever you please. It’s your life. Fuck their judgment.
Bowing deep to all my black and brown bisexuals who have been shining in every way since humanity was a thing. Sending prayers of protection to all my immigrant and refugee bisexuals, restorative justice to my indigenous bisexuals and two-spirit folks, profound respect and recognition to all the elder bisexuals who got us here, and access to every single differently-abled bisexual on this planet.
Protection and healing to all the closeted bisexuals who feel like they have to use gay, lesbian or straight labels to survive. We’re here for you when and if ever you decide to take the glorious and terrifying leap.
Love to the bisexual+/pansexual/polysexual/omnisexual/asexual/biromantic/aro/fluid/no label/queer/questioning/OMG-I-don’t-know-sexuals just trying to find their way. Shout out to all the bisexuals under the vast bi+ umbrella who feel like a more specific label suits them a little better.
Love and light to the bisexuals who will hold onto their bi+ label and you’ll have to pry it from their cold dead hands. Bi+ is not binary (or transphobic) and pan is not sanctimonious (or transphobic). We are a community and we had better act like one because we can’t win without each other.

A female-id’ing person kissing another female-id’ing person doesn’t ALWAYS mean one (or even both) of them self-identifies as Lesbian … Bisexual+ People exist!

Bisexuality is the attraction to more than one Gender, or to Genders similar to- and different from- one’s own.
It includes people of ALL Genders & Gender Presentations including but not limited to: Cis Intersex, Genderfluid, Genderqueer, Nonbinary, Trans and so many more.
Bisexual+, Biromantic+ (Bi+ or BiPlus for short) is the commonly used “shorthand” for the entire Non-Monosexual or otherwise MSpec (Multiple Gender Attraction Spectrum) Community including but not limited to: Bisexual/Biromantic, Ambisexual, Flexisexual, Fluid, Heteroflexible/Homoflexible, Multisexual, No Labels, Omnisexual, Pansexual, Plurisexual, PoMoSexual, Polysexual, Same-gender Loving (SGL), Sapiosexual, Queer-identified, and so many more.
SoPlease remember to ALWAYS include the “B” in LGBTQ+

Attention conference coordinators: Unless your stated theme is “White people are the arbiters of what constitutes knowledge & expertise” there is absolutely no reason to have that many white presenters. None. NONE.
And the few POC presenters need to be presenting on something other than racism.
I want all healing conferences to literally “flip the script”. Most of the presenters should be other than cismen, and most of the presenters should be POC.
If your lineup isn’t like this, it tells me you do not take the dismantling of White Supremacy seriously & therefore the lens that you approach healing—especially healing from trauma—is morally bankrupt and cannot lead us to liberation.It’s fucking 2020, fucking get with the goddamn program.

As it’s Pride month and as I don’t think people realise the Pride flag has been adapted a lot over time (I’ve seen over 20 versions so far). I thought it would be nice to shine a light on a few of the alternative versions of the Pride flag.
As a community, we should be working together to battle inequality. POC don’t feel part of our community so if having the More Color More Pride flag helps even slightly then please don’t stand in anyone’s way. It’s not replacing the Gilbert flag, just like none of these flags have replaced it.
Also, just consider this comment I found on FB:
‘The “But we don’t need it because it already represents everyone” complaints sound very much like the straight people who are uncomfortable with the attention we get and try to put on straight pride.’

Andrea Jenkins, Board Chair at Minneapolis Minnesota’s Intermedia Arts is an artist-activist, and award-winning poet and writer. She has been awarded fellowships from the Bush Foundation, Intermedia Arts, and the Playwrights Center; has won writing and performance grants and scholarships from the Givens Foundation, Intermedia Arts, The Loft, the Napa Valley Writers Conference, and Pillsbury House Theater.
Ms. Jenkins a Bi-identified Trans Woman of Color (BiWoc + BiToC) who was a keynoter at the Midwestern USA’s 2015 BECAUSE Conference. She is the co-curator of Queer Voices at Intermedia Arts, the longest-running series of its kind in the nation, and currently works collecting oral histories from hundreds of people in the Upper Midwest transgender community as an Oral Historian in the Jean-Nickolaus Tretter Collection in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Studies.
