Summary: The relative small size of this cap suggests it would have been made for and worn by a boy. Although younger children tended to have fun and colorful hats decorated with images of animals, as they became older it was common practice for children to wear smaller versions of adults’ clothing, as this cap was intended to be.
Headgear were not merely part of a man or boy’s outfit: especially in the northerly parts of China they were also important for keeping the head warm in colder climates.

Summary: This robe was made to adorn a statue of the Chinese deity, Guan Di. Guan Di, also known as Guan Yu, was an important General of the Eastern Han and Three Kingdoms era. On this robe we see symbols from the twelve insignia used by royalty (such as the symmetrical fu symbol in the centre of the robe; millet; flames; mountains; axes and pheasants). Since he was considered to be equal to an emperor, it is woven with many of the symbols seen on the emperor’s yellow clothes of the same period.
This robe would have been one of a set of clothes of different colors made for the same statue, to be changed according to seasons.

Designer Jin Chen’s light-filled apartment in Taipei combines the tenets of wabi-sabi: aesthetic minimalism and imperfection. In addition to Chen’s newly launched ECRU Studios the designer is the owner of Delicate Antique, restaurant Xiang Se, and private member’s bar Staff Only
In the living room natural, raw textures in the form of original concrete walls, an antique stone bust, a marble sculpture, a mid-century table and an antique wooden chair from Denmark combine with plush soft furnishings.
Above the sofa is an abstract painting by an unknown Dutch artist; an unusually shaped chair from an antique dealer in Belgium sits before a brocaded 18th-century French screen. The slab of carved stone was purchased from a dealer in Ghent.

This time, I am making an exception and writing about menswear since I have fallen in love with the Fall ‘13 menswear collection of Giorgio Armani!
In this collection, you may find several styles that a man can adopt; however, they all align with Armani’s approach of powerful and striking masculinity eventually - what I actually like when it comes to menswear :)
Instead of focusing on suits, the designer chose a well mix-and-match approach. So, it is possible to see distinct combinations of several pieces and different fabrics, such as mohair sweaters, brocade waistcoats, shearling and velvet coats, leather jackets, …
The surprise about the color palette -including black, navy and grey as expected- is claret. The designer combined claret with velvet on some pieces which are my favorites in general. Infact, the colors rendered the pieces -even more casual ones- quite masculine. Claret seems to make the collection be more dynamic:
Shoes and accessories were also remarkable. Loafers, leather gloves, black tie, huge handbags and aviator sunglasses are some of them.
And God said, let there be Armani.
