I’ve just started Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. I’m loving it so far! ❤️
Just one quick question. When we first see him get off the helicopter in the first episode, did anyone else for a split second think that Kenji was Masrani’s kid? They were even dressed similarly! Or was that just me?
Like, I would say someone stop me but I’m flying on this now. Seeing Dominion really got me excited to finish and I have a new epilogue planned. I just want to binge write this fic!
The reunions are teary and desperate, dead children coming back, changed but alive.
(Kenji and Brooklyn stand to the side, waiting for people who will never come)
They hug each other goodbye, with promises to stay in touch.
(No one notices how their smiles are too tight, how their hands linger on each other, how once they part their hearts beat fast like when they were on the island)
(No one notices when they wake up silently screaming)
They have calls after school every day.
(They talk about how they see shadows in the halls, how their peers smiles are too sharp and predatory, how they may have left the island but a part of them will always be there)
They tell the people who ask that they are doing fine, better than they were, at least.
(They don’t talk about the calls at midnight, full of reassurances and tears that last until morning)
(They don’t need much sleep, anymore)
They talk to their therapists, trying to come to terms with what happened.
(They don’t talk about how Kenji reaches for a pack that isn’t there)
(They don’t talk about how Ben keeps a swiss army knife in pocket)
(They don’t talk about how Yaz always carries First Aid supplies)
(They don’t talk about how Sammy’s hands clench around the air unconsciously)
(They don’t talk about how Darius reads more survival books than dinosaur books now)
(They don’t talk about how Brooklyn’s hands shake when she holds a camera)
(They don’t talk about how sometimes, they wish they hadn’t come back, because the terror on the island was familiar, and this terror is new)
They go about their lives.
(As though they are normal, as though they can ever be normal)
They grow up, and they move out, and away.
(They still wake up screaming)
Kenji buys a penthouse, and lets them all stay there.
(They tried to refuse, but they saw the bags under his eyes. They agreed)
(After all, they all had matching ones)
They each have a bedroom, but the living room is the largest.
(They asked how Kenji could afford this place. He grinned sharply and said that his father had paid for it)
(They grinned back)
More often than not, they all end up sleeping in the living room.
(They make a circle, with Sammy and Yaz cuddling, Brooklyn and Darius holding hands, and Kenji gripping tightly onto Ben)
I really went into this show thinking it was gonna be a cheesy kids show and then by episode 3 there were 2 on screen deaths and like 20 off screen ones
So… Camp Cretaceous season 2, but Ben isn’t mad at the group and doesn’t want revenge, they all hug and cry happily when they find each other and also Kenji and Ben are angsty and in love and so are Yaz and Sammy. Deal?
