I’m so mad I didn’t think of this sooner!!!

For all of my witches out there that need their morning coffee/tea-

Take like 3 minutes out of your night to pick out which mug you’re gonna use in the morning, and then put a crystal in the mug overnight!!  I tried it last night by putting a blue lace agate in one of my mugs overnight to help me stay calm during my stressful day today and I think it’s a great way to infuse your mug with positive energies!!!

Omg YES! Thank you so much for this tip! I needed this.

Make sure the stone isn’t dangerous first though! Some stones are not safe around food/drink and care should always be taken regarding the craft and your health.

✨Use herbs that match your intent for the day in an omelette or scram: basil for harmony and warding, parsley for protection, Rosemary for matters of the heart, etc.

✨Sigil infused Pancakes. This can be done a number of ways. If you’re fancy, you can cook it into the pancake by doing pancake art with the batter in a piping bag, or you can cook it in with chocolate chips or berries. You can also simply do the sigil afterwards with some syrup or other toppings.

✨Enjoy a magical tea with your morning meal. Bonus, read the leaves to see how your day will go, and anything to look forward to or watch out for.

✨Keep something constant in your meal each morning, whether it be making the same order at a coffee shop, or sitting in the same place to eat, and use the familiarity and constance of that to ease stress and bring about stability during the rest of your day

✨Find a food that makes you feel great and use it to aid glamours when you want to feel more beautiful or confident.

✨Do you have a lucky number or number correspondences that match your intention for the day? Try cutting your food into that many pieces, dividing it up into groups of that many pieces, or chewing each bite that many times as you focus on your intention.

✨Use some color magic by choosing brightly colored fruits that match your intention: strawberries for vitality, oranges for self expression, blueberries for tranquility, and so on.

✨Share some food with your deities. It can be easy to rush and get stressed in the morning, but if you can make some time to talk to your deities in the morning, it can really brighten up your day. Offer a little of your food to them as well, if that’s something they like.

✨If you’re someone who likes to make tinctures or other preserves, you could try canning some magical jam and jelly mixtures to use on the daily.

✨Just have time for some cereal or toast? Sprinkle a little cinnamon sugar on top to sweeten your words during the day and get people to listen to you. Use salt and pepper the same way for protection through the day.

Birthday book haul! Over the weekend I headed over to Barnes and Noble to pick up some more witchcraft and Wiccan books, because my current collection needs some SERIOUS work! I ended up getting;

  • The Black Arts by Richard Cavendish; a theology book about the history and practices of the Occult, including witchcraft, numerology, Kabbala, etc.
  • The House Witch by Arin Murphy Hiscock; a book detailing the practices of hearthcraft, kitchen witchcraft, and cottage witchcraft, some of my favorite aspects of magical practices!
  • Besom, Stang, & Sword by Christopher Orapello & Tara-Love Maguire; a book about non-religious regional traditional witchcraft

Stuffed Apples for Mabon

Happy Mabon my greenies! I’m so happy to bring this recipe for you to enjoy during this festive time. Like all my recipes, these can be used with or without a chant, you can create your own, or if you’re not a practitioner. I want to bring joy and comfort for this time of year. This is a recipe I used last year and decided to post it for y’all. I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 5 Apples (I use honeycrisp)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • Dash of vanilla

For Topping

  • ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup old fashioned oats
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

Directions

  1. First cut off the tops of the apples and core them. Make sure you spoon out the insides and save them. (Also save all peels to use as offerings or compost) Use the inside of the apple and cut into small ¼ inch chunks.
  2. Mix together the apple chunks, cornstarch, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and vanilla. Put into the apple and make sure you leave a little space for the crumble topping. While mixing these ingredients, think on all you’re thankful for and fill the apples with love and hope.
  3. Cut up the butter into little pieces and put some inside the apple. Then mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt and place on top of the apple. While mixing, you can say the chant below or your own. Use the rest of the butter to sprinkle on top of the apples.
  4. Preheat ovan at 375 degrees F and place apples onto a covered baking sheet. Cover the tops of the apples with foil and bake for 15 min and the uncover and bake for 20. Wait at least 10 minutes before eating and enjoy with some ice cream.

Chant: While fog may cast in front of my eyes, the breeze of fall trails with browning leaves. A warm hand on my back and wisp of hair, let my future shine. Let my love rejoice and my mind rest with ease. My life, my hope, my dream.

Once again my lovelies, happy Mabon to you and your loved ones. I hope that with the shifting of seasons, brings change to our society.

With all my love,

Kenzie

Witch Tip Wednesday 4.4.18

Spray on Magic - Hydrosols

So my first official Witch Tip Wednesday mentioned hydrosols as being something to cleanse or charge/ground a room, alternative to smoke cleansing or incense, but what are hydrosols?

If you’ve made tea, then you’ve made a hydrosol, albeit a weak and unstable one. A hydrosol is an infusion made with water.

Hydrosols – herbal distillates or “flower waters” are water based and steam distilled concentrations of plants and flowers. During this alchemicial process, both an oil and the water are infused with the plant’s essence.

You can make your personal blend of herbs and spices and plant matter to achieve a goal, and depending on what you use aka, if you put toxic plants in, you may or may not be able to use as skin care as well.

One benefit of making a hydrosol is you can use fresh herbs without risking spoiling as you would in oil or fat infusions, and it’s an easy way to get into infusing herbs for magical uses. Read how to make them below.

What you’ll need:

  • Non-reactive stock pot (enamel or stainless steel)
  • A lid without a steam release hole
  • A brick, or vegetable steamer
  • Heat proof bowl (non reactive)
  • 3 litres Spring, or distilled water* (You can also use “living” waters such as moon, stream, snow water etc, but boil them first to sterilize them)
  • 10 oz fresh herb, or approx. 4-5 oz dried
  • Ice (optional)

The method:

Make sure all your tools are clean and disinfected

  • Place all your herbal material in the bottom of the pot, and pour in water
  • Allow to steep at room temperature for at least an hour
  • Place the brick in the center of the pot, or the steamer basket
  • Place the bowl on top and light your stove
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, and when it starts to simmer/steam place the lid upside down on the pot
  • At this point, place the ice in a bag on the lid to help the steam re-condense and drip into you bowl.
  • Allow the mixture to boil on a medium heat until you have the desired amount of hydrosol, or until most but not all, of the liquid has re-condensed into the bowl.

To make it have a longer shelf life, consider adding in a cap or two of rubbing alcohol 70%+ and/or store in fridge. If done properly, hydrosol should keep for up to 12 months!

You can spray around a room to cleanse, charge or prepare a space for ritual. Use your herbal correspondences for whatever purpose you have in mind.

Some combinations I enjoy if you need some I aspiration:

Citrus blossoms and pine needles for creativity and positive energy flow when I craft.

✨Sage, mint and rosemary for cleansing and charging a space.

‍♂️Witchhazel and a few cloves for skin care.

Lavender, chamomile and cinnamon for relaxation.

Cheers, Barberwitch
