#sabbat
From my altar to yours, wishing you a happy Yule.
Happy Midsummer’s eve! I’m celebrating today since I’ll be busy tomorrow. Baked cookies and redecorated my altar.
Wishing everyone a meaningful Juneteenth as well.
Midsummer is a good day to reflect on power structures, taking action, and where best to direct your energy.
A new beginning✨
Samhain ideas !
- go for a walk! either thru the woods, city or a trail. just make sure you’re outside to enjoy the air.
- pick up leaves cause hey they’re all beautiful
- light candles. either to let the spirits know you’re welcoming them in or just to cleanse the air.
- light incenses (seasonal?)
- meditate ! ♀️
- a feast! if you’re into it or can do so this is a great way to celebrate
- release old energies and attitudes
- best time to practice divination! do a tarot spread, scrying, runes, tea reading or palmistry.
- put a protection spell or sigil all over your house
- read !! expand your mind and always fill it with knowledge
- decorate your room or altar with seasonal colors!!! (orange and black preferably. black for death and the fading of light. orange for the dawn of light.)
- bonfire of course (if possible) if not you can burn paper or draw sigils on the paper or better yet write the things you wish to set free or let go off and burn them.
- carve pumpkins, paint pumpkins and/or make pumpkin seeds
- have a small ritual or gathering with other witches
- visit (or make) your ancestor altar or their grave
- CONTACT THE DEAD! of course this is here and samhain is when the the other side is “thin” to contact the spirit (but beware of your energy and make sure it’s not bad energy before you start talking to spirits)
- write you’re intentions down and get ready for the year to end with your resolutions set.
- write something you want to start or continue, put it under your pillow aans sleep on it
- Give bread to the poor to honor the dead (even if you’re not honoring the dead just be kind)
- TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR HISTORY OR THE PATH YOU DECIDED TO FOLLOW!

️ Celebrating Imbolc ️
CANDLEMAS | February 1
️Decorations: white flowers, candles, seeds, daffodils, broom, cross
Incense: vanilla, basil, bay leaves, hay, straw, wormwood, jasmin
Food: crêpes, poppy seeds muffins, sunflower seeds, waffles, scones, garlic, onions, chia seeds
Imbolc means “in the belly”, and it is the time when life stirs in the belly of earth. It is a feast of lightness and brightness, but also a time for cleansing, to make way for the new. It is sacred to the celtic goddess Brigid, as she is associated as a deity with spring, fertility, healing, light and poetry.
Rituals to celebrate:
With people, have a walk outside and look for signs of spring’s return.
️In the kitchen, bake poppy seed muffins.
Get crafty, by weaving a Brigid’s cross.
Dress up, using white and bright outfits to celebrate the return of light.
Write in your journal, how you plan to take care of nature and the environment this year.
Meditate, about what healing means to you.
Other ideas to celebrate:
- Start planting your garden.
- Declutter and clean your living space to prepare for spring.
- Light white candles to invite the sun to come back.
- Open the windows to let fresh air in.

Hello my dears! Despite the snow still piling up outside (here in N.Y we have about 2 feet) it is almost time for the Spring Equinox!
The Spring Equinox is also known as the Vernal Equinox, and is considered the first official day of Spring. The sun is crossing the celestial equator, transitioning the Northern hemisphere into Spring.
For Wiccans and other pagans, this day is celebrated and often called Ostara (or Eostre). I look at this as “Wiccan Easter”, though I know little to nothing about Easter. For Ostara, a major symbol of the holiday is the egg, which is also seen on Easter. Ostara is all about new beginnings, fertility, and the coming of Spring. It is a time to plant the seeds of change and hope (both literally and figuratively).
Here are a few things you can do to celebrate Ostara:
❀ Dye Ostara eggs (there are tons of resources online, like this one, that show how to naturally dye eggs).
❀ Decorate the house/altar with fresh flowers.
❀ Meditate about your goals and dreams for the coming spring.
❀ Try to stand an egg up-right, during the Spring Equinox you can balance an egg!
❀ ❀ Plant little seeds of flowers or early spring plants (check outthis resource!) When you plant the seeds, give each one a special meaning, a wish or goal, and tend to that seed. As the months progress you can tend to your seedling and your goals, and watch them both grow! In time you will be able to pick the fruits of your labor.
❀ ❀ In my tradition, we bury our best naturally dyed eggs at the gate to our garden as an offering. This is something that was done a long time ago that was said to promote a healthy garden! I have also heard of people burying the eggs at each of the cardinal directions.
Have a wonderful Ostara, everyone. As always…Be safe, Be happy, and Have fun!
✨OSTARA✨
(CORRESPONDENCES)
MAGIC:
Ostara is the sabbat of new beginnings and life. Fertility magic (especially through the use of eggs and garden and seed blessings are commonly performed during this time)
Use this Sabbat to perform magic to break away barriers, start new projects or inventions, and breathe new life into your home and garden. This is also a great time to celebrate balance as day and night are equal on this day. Color eggs to attract different things such as love, fertility, wealth, and prosperity. Then plant them in the garden to slow these things to grow into your life.
