Donald’s family is composed of three branches. The McDuck Clan, Coot kin and the Duck family.
Coots are smaller birds that often get mistaken for ducks and while Coot can be used as a last name like how Duck or Mouse are common last names in the duckverse (like Johnson or Smith etc) I doubt that Barks and Rosa went out of their way to give them a last name without it having some biological meaning as well.
Donald’s dad, Quackmore Duck, is the son of Elvira Coot and Humperdink Duck. Now, unfortunately we don’t know much about Humperdink’s parents but we’re given enough tools at our disposal to figure enough out.
Donald’s mother is Hortense McDuck, a fiery duck from Scotland. As far as I can tell, duck is all she has.
So that’s it right?? Donald is part duck part coot??

The guy who looks high at the bottom left corner of the picture there?? That’s Gus Goose. He’s a semi-distant cousin of Donald’s related to him from his father.
Now it’s implied from the family tree that the goose part for Gus came from Luke Goose which is fine and dandy and it could very well have been from him. But again, it doesn’t have to be the only source of goose in his family. (and it already isn’t considering Gladstone Gander canonically being half goose half duck)
Humperdink’s parents are unknown right?? Who’s to say he isn’t part goose as well? Maybe he got it from his dad or mom who knows they’re not in the tree. And if he’s part goose part duck, then Quackmore is goose-duck-coot mixed.
Going by all of this, we can say that Donald Duck is 2/4ths Duck, ¼th Coot and ¼th Goose.
I took part in the Ducktales Secret Santa this year. My recipient asked for a picture of Donald and Della celebrating their first Christmas together, but I wasn’t sure if that meant “first at the mansion” or “first after returning from the moon” so I did both. Kinda!

Some may recognize this from a sketch I did a few years ago, but this was a cover for a story idea @the-original-antlerbrows and I came up with. The prompt is pretty much that Scrooge and Fenton get invited to a billionaire’s club affair– McDuck always using any chance he can get to find and make new business associates. At the event there are a bunch of celebrities and other cream of the crop type of people. Scrooge is there to talk shop, and the host insisted Scrooge bring his now husband, Fenton. (This would be a part of the Snark and Moonie ‘Real Values’ series, taking place after a couple other stories that haven’t been written yet.)
While there, Fenton uncovers a devious plot– which I won’t spoil what it is– but he and Scrooge end up tag teaming to save the day while dangerous criminals lurk around the old castle. Wishing he had brought his Gizmosuit after all, Fenton does his best to help his husband take down those that wish to do them harm. Who says the adventure has to end just because the honeymoon does?
I wasn’t quite happy with my last attempt of capturing Rockerduck in my style– it was that dang hair– so I decided to give it another whirl. I think I got something I can work with now!
I am a short tempered person, so drawing a character with almost the same personality can help. I was suppose to draw Donald, but I love Uncle Scrooge and this is the first time I’d drew him wearing his Ducktales 2017 reboot design! Great, I need to draw more ducks. ;____;
