Another Day of Life (2019)

An official Cannes selection and winner of festival prizes and awards worldwide, Another Day of Life is a daringly ambitious dive into the chaos of war, based on the book by the journalist Ryszard “Ricardo” Kapuscinski, one of the world’s most compelling chroniclers of conflict.

Intercutting a graphically bold animation style with interviews and archival footage, the visually striking film conveys a rare immediacy as it tells of the outbreak of civil war following Angola’s independence from Portugal in 1975. Against all advice, Kapuscinski is intent on driving south into the heart of the bloody conflict to find the isolated rebel leader Farrusco. His animated trip through corpse-strewn roads conveys an undeniable urgency, while the documentary testimony reminds us that we are watching actual history.

Directed by:   Raul de la Fuente & Damian Nenow

Release date:   September 13, 2019

The Getty Images Instagram Grant, run in collaboration with Instagram, supports visual artists using #Instagram to tell important stories about communities underrepresented by mainstream media.

Ismail Ferdous, a Bangladeshi documentary photographer using #Instagram to cover social humanitarian issues, received a grant in 2015 for his project “After Rana Plaza.”

“This project came from a very personal place, as I live among those affected by the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh’s garment industry. Seeing the workers every day, coming and going, is a constant reminder of the collapse and its effects still linger more than two years later.” -@ismailferdous

: Rahela Begum lost her son at the 2013 Rana Plaza garment factory collapse: "Whenever I go in front of Rana Plaza, I feel like my son will come back suddenly. My elder son told me to change our house but I denied him. I told him this house is attached with my son’s memories and I will not leave this place at any cost."

The Getty Images Instagram Grant is accepting applications until April 12. Learn more and apply at gtty.im/grants

Prehistoric Planet

Releasing May 23rd on Apple TV+

Just want to add this real quick because it’s important.

I know it’s tempting to want to pirate this series but if you have the money then PLEASE don’t. Apple TV+ is only $5 a month so you can just pay for a month, watch the series (maybe multiple times) and then cancel. You could even just use the 1 week free trial if you need to. But please, let’s show the creators of the series (including actual paleoartists and scientists!) our support so that we can maybe see a season 2 or even a renewed interest in paleo media in general.
