DISAPPEAR BEFORE DAWN // Vol. Two

Here’s another little playlist/mixtape that i had recently posted on Instagram. It’s sort of a continuation of the mix that I posted a couple of days back. Once again, think of it as an autumnal primer. Something to listen to as the leaves shift colors and fall away. Once again, this one was put together at Spotify, so you can stream this collection over there. Enjoy!

Disintegration turns 28 years old today. Back then, I wasn’t the music obsessed weirdo that I am today - but then again, i was but a child. That being said, i was lucky enough to have older siblings who left cool shit lying around for me to pick up and call my own, which would ultimately help mold me into the music lover that I am at this moment. Back then, it was the just the tape with “Love Song” on it, that my brother left behind as he left home to discover his path. Later it would be a starting point to seek out similar sounds. Even later, it would become the anchor of many conversations about what a perfect album sounds and feels like. Today, it’s just an old hoodie that I never get tired of wearing. A dark, yet warm blanket that reminds me of home. And as always, it’s a towering work of beauty that shows little sign of age, and still, hits like a freight train if you’re willing to let it wash over you one more time. The singles are flawless, but the title track stands as one of my favorite songs of all time. Disarmingly lovely and haunting in equal parts. A high water mark of a band overflowing with mountainous peaks.

Mae Powell “Weird Dreams”

/ We all get ‘em. Mae “writes music for the moon and is on a mission to spread love and magick across all dimensions.” Keep 'em comin’, grrl.

Grubby Little Hands “Surf Lullaby”

/ As a long-time Philly friend of Donnie Felton, I swear I don’t just post it because we’re bud buds. He’s always ripping out this kind of mellow space jams for years. So proud of him for keeping them fresh and flowing with musical color. Ltd 7", y'all!
