The Arena of Fire Battle Map

Tread carefully! My big, new battle map is of a stone arena on the brink of a fiery volcano. What might bring your players here? You can now find it on the blog …

Find it on 2-Minute Tabletop

Lava flows around an raised stone stage, seemingly carved for the express purpose of an epic boss battle.

Troy’s had a fire-themed monk encounter in the works for some time now, and this is my take on their dojo. I imagine it as an ancient ziggurat with some long-forgotten alternate purpose, but the sheer heat and scorching atmosphere might be irresistible for someone studying the blaze…

Davastis 6 – Planetary Mining Adventure Setting

Davatis 6 is a mineral-rich, system-neutral planet for mining-focused campaigns. This article will give you the tools you need to build the worksites of these miners, from the rocks they dig through, to the equipment they use, to the things they find in the uncharted depths.

In every era, one unceasing desire has driven man: Expansion. And in every era, expansion has required materials. In the space age, this is no different, and brave miners now descend into the hearts of alien worlds to bring back the materials humanity needs.

I’ve chosen to call the company in charge of these operations Stardust Solutions, but you are of course free to change or discard any of the corporate details as you see fit. Similarly, currency values are given in ¤, or “Scarabs,” but this should be easy to convert into any other fictional currency …

Rousing the Ruins – Desert Ruin Encounter for D&D 5E

Troy’s got a new D&D treat for you today: three new desert elementals, an NPC, magic item, battle map, and tokens by David! You can find it all in our new article.

Read it on 2-Minute Tabletop

An  encounter in a lost desert temple, including a character, location,  cursed magic item, and four desert elemental creatures with stat blocks  for use in D&D 5E.

A  temple hides, silently buried under desert sands, its entrance recently uncovered by the winds. It is an enticing, albeit risky opportunity for adventuring parties crossing the desert, particularly when a singular  voice calls out to them from the nearby, asking for their help in exchange for treasures. Surely the potential riches would be worth a quick look inside, regardless of whatever creatures might be lurking there?

We  hope you enjoy this adventure, or at least find plenty of loot for your  DM horde in the way of tokens, maps, stat blocks, and such! We’ve got  more art and articles in the works too, so you’ll be hearing again from  me soon. :)

TheAncient Desert Catacomb Dungeon Map

This is our new map by Connor, a dark dungeon below the sunny Ancient Desert Temple. Both are huge maps and only need to be populated with monsters and loot!

Find it on the 2-Minute Tabletop gallery

An underground space offers desperate relief from the desert sun, but you are doubtlessly not the only creature to think so…

This sandy dungeon is by Connor Johnston (CocosTreasuryOfTokens) and provides an exciting subterranean level to last month’s Ancient Desert Temple! It’s certainly an enticing place to hide some ancient treasure… And ancient guardians.

The Fallen Star Battle Map

My new battle map is now released! It is a fallen star; a meteorite with a fantasy twist. Beware the crackling energy – what effect would you give it? :)

Find it on my website

One of the celestial stones have fallen from the great ceiling above! It’s an event which happens once an age, and each time sparks a sudden bloodbath over the rare resource…

I wasn’t satisfied with my old Glowing Crater, and wanted to do something a little different the second time around. This take features a strict top-down perspective and a “shotgun blast” field of craters – I imagined a shooting star that exploded into pieces shortly before impact. It just so happens to make for a more interesting battle map, too!

What might be the properties of such a resource in your campaign? And what might be the effects of these sparking energy trails on your average player character? I’d love to hear what ideas you cook up, so please do share in the comments.

The City of Rowding

Garm’s new adventure setting – the modern-day city of Rowding – just went up!  It comes complete with gangsters, corporate intrigue, and a little bit  of weird! You can read it on our website, behind the big red button:

Read it on 2-Minute Tabletop

On  the flat plains of midwestern America sits a city called Rowding, the  capital of its state. Smoke from the Steelyard curls into the sky day  and night, motorbikes speed down the wide streets, and a couple hundred  thousand people just try to live their lives as best they can downstream  of an economic collapse.

Rowding,  as written, is set up for a modern crime game, but it could easily be  retooled to a superhero, magical girl or urban fantasy game. St.  Zdislava’s makes an ideal home base for a group of magical girls, while  Crystalightning’s experiments could make for a solid superhero origin.

In Walls that Talk, Part 3 – The Second Floor

It’s time to plunge once more into Troy’s terribly haunted MacHale Manor. Do you enjoy mansions, mystery, and awesome treasures? This one’s for you!

Read it on 2-Minute Tabletop

The  creak of the stairs echoes across the house’s second floor, shocking  the movement in the opposite room to silence. But the sound dissipates  without any violent retaliation. The group of nervous adventurers  continues through the dilapidated rooms. They watch for signs of danger  or any horrors waiting to strike, ever wary of what might still inhabit  the manor. There is nothing to be seen, of course, as the many spectral  eyes that watch the group do so from beyond the Material. They will bide  their time until the party has no chance to escape.

The  characters have already seen the house’s gardens, first floor, and  basement, but much remains to be found upstairs. The second floor has  many more rooms to discover and explore, bringing the party even closer  to the estate’s secrets. Each of the group’s interactions,  investigations, and the information they gather leads them towards  exposing and confronting Gabrien and finally reaching the house’s  treasure. But what they do with their discoveries may prove even more  important than uncovering them, as this adventure’s conclusion looms  ever closer…

Troy’s  doing a phenomenal job with these chapters, and I hope that they are  useful to you and your group! Even if you don’t need a haunted house,  there is plenty of treasure, stat blocks, and other resources to  pillage. ;)

The River Fort Battle Map

Welcome to my new River Fort battle map, a 32x44 settlement ready to be attacked or defended – your choice! What sort of encounter pops into your mind?

Check it out on my website

As political tensions rose, so did the palisades on the border. Now, travelers must deal with the garrison or find another way across the river…

This battle map was drafted by myself and my buddy Paul using a battle map planning tool called Valheim (by Iron Gate Studio). I’d highly recommend it! It really gets the mind in the right creative space for mapping. ;)

I imagine the River Fort as either a bandit HQ or a military installation; you can either play an “invade the fort” encounter or a “defend the fort” one depending on which you choose. It’s 32x44, so you should have plenty of room to maneuver.

What do you think of this map? Please leave a comment and let me know! It’s a little different up close to my recent style. That’s all for now though! It’s time for me to start drafting some December maps. :)

A traveling caravan has erected a gorgeous camp, their yurts bright and bold in the sun.

The Xenoforming of WalpurgiaToday Garm’s new article is up! It outlines an adventure setting

The Xenoforming of Walpurgia

Today Garm’s new article is up! It outlines an adventure setting with a unique crisis: visitors from beyond the stars who seem to insist on staying…

Read it on 2-Minute Tabletop

Welcome to Walpurgia, a system-neutral adventure setting designed to introduce a splash of sci-fi into a fantasy campaign.

The Kingdom of Walpurgia was like any other kingdom. A noble king did  his level best to protect the land and ensure the prosperity of his  subjects (while living lavishly, of course). Fields of golden wheat  waved in the wind. The seven legions of the Walpurgian military  protected their designated areas.

Then,  one day, a royal astronomer spotted something strange in the sky. A  moving star, crossing through the constellation of the Great Tree. Then  the Spider. And then he noticed it was getting bigger, and bigger…

This  was no star. This was a vessel from beyond the sky, and it slammed into  the ground mere kilometers from the Walpurgian capital. The force of  the impact destroyed the capital’s walls, even at that distance, and  soon strange creatures in metal suits spewed from the ship, accompanied  by an alien fog.

That  was three years ago. Now, Walpurgia is entirely under the control of  these strange creatures, and the only remaining faction of the Kingdom  of Walpurgia is the Seventh Legion, who are fighting a guerilla war  against the mad conquerors.

https://2minutetabletop.com/walpurgia-scifi-fantasy-setting/

I really enjoy Garm’s take on these aliens, and I think this is a solid  foundation on top of which you could probably build an entire campaign!  If you use it in any way we’d love to hear about it in the comments. :)

The Blood & Bodies Map Assets

Hey, my Halloween Patreon release just went up on my gallery! You can now download my collection of hand-drawn skeletons, blood, and bodies – link below.

This especially grim asset pack was this year’s special Halloween release on Patreon. That said, blood, bones, and corpses are useful year-round, with all the violent drama that goes on in your average campaign!

Download these from my website

This pack contains both bloody and clean versions of each asset [that bleeds], as I always want to try and offer a kid-friendly alternative. I highly recommend the skeletons too, in that case! Altogether there are 330 individual assets lovingly drawn, colored, exported, and named… and even more in the Patron Pack’s extended variants.

I hope you have fun decorating your dungeons, deadly locations, and tavern exteriors with these! Next up I’ll be working on some stone floor textures useful for dungeons, streets, and interiors.

The Forgotten Monastery

Welcome to the Forgotten Monastery, a ruin atop an inhospitable mountain peak… Who – or what – might live here now?

The Forgotten Monastery Battle Map

This battle map is a 33×22″ scene created by Rootyful. Time has worn this ancient monastery down nearly to the ground, and yet it refuses to disappear completely. Notably, the statue in its courtyard seems almost untouched…

In my mind, this ruin is completely inhospitable and the only people you’re likely to find here are fugitives and runaways. That said, the locals say it is haunted by much worse. Perhaps the rumors are true?

I’d love to hear what ideas come to your mind when you look over this map. Is the statue a key to some puzzle? Who (or what) might dwell here despite the climate? Does a certain monster come to mind? I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments.

Crunkle’sAvorio Mansion Heist Map

Today’s Community Spotlight is a HUGE estate by Crunkle, complete with 4 levels and day & night versions. Truly inspiring stuff – don’t miss out on adding this to your collection!

Read it on 2-Minute Tabletop

“I created this map with the intention of running a heist scenario for my  DnD players. Due to our many commitments, it is tough for my group to  come together for regular sessions. As a result, I rely on running  one-shots which are still tied to my main campaign setting in order to  keep the pace up and at least provide all of us with some regular  entertainment. I take great joy in designing these side-adventures –  they provide ample opportunity for me to take a deep dive in a certain  character’s backstory, and to foreshadow world events in the main  storyline…

… this map is not only limited to the running of heist adventures. Reskin  it into a haunted house scenario and run it dungeon-crawler style!  Organize a grand ball and have the players navigate through dense layers  of intrigue. Maybe use it as the party’s keep, a reward by the local  leadership for a good job done. Or take up arms to help the inhabitants  of the mansion defend against some fiendish threat, crawling in right  from the bowels of the building. Take it apart, repurpose it, and tweak  it to suit your needs.

I’d  like to make a shout-out to my friend Ken, who offered his time and energy to help playtest this map right from its infancy. It started as a  couple of boxes in a Google Slides presentation, and it took 2 months  and support from the awesome 2-Minute Tabletop asset packs to finally  bring it to fruition. After many nights just chipping away at it after  work, I’m glad and grateful to call it done.”

– Crunkle

I’m sure you’ll agree that this is an unmissable map! Crunkle doesn’t frequent social media, but please leave them a thank-you message in the comments. I think you’ll be seeing more from Crunkle soon too, so please stay tuned!
