#feminism
This blog is not a safe place for bigots.
Get the fuck away from me if you’re a bigot.
Fuck you if you’re a fascist or enable it, too.
the kind of accusations i’ve seen from self-proclaimed radical feminists (most of them mothers of sons who don’t want to hear that male socialization is just about impossible to avoid) are absolutely out there like you wouldn’t even believe.
to recap, women and girls who don’t prioritize or want to be around your son are:
- soulless
- sociopathic
- cruel
- Nazis
- monsters
- mother-hating
- misogynist
- advocates of child abandonment, abuse, and/or murder
am i missing any?
Did you miss the person who wanted to coin the term MERF?
MERF
Don’t know if you have seen some of what has been said about mothers of sons - it’s been really ugly and inaccurate. I’ve been at the other end of some of it. Some of those descriptions have been used not because women don’t want to be around sons specifically but because of how they have treated women and what they have said about children, and what women should do.
Really, we can all step back and analyse it all dispassionately, while acknowledging that there are both women who want nothing to do with our sons and women with sons who try damn hard to bring them up in counter socialising ways.
Patriarchy loves dividing women. I’d rather resist that, personally.
luna, ginny, hermione, and their feminist bookclub. (this was a commissioned piece by sarah steelman and SO MUCH FUN to create!)
I hate the growing trend on the internet to associate atheism with the neck-beard variety of anti-feministic pseudo intellectualism.
It’s odd to me that those that argue against feminism feel morally and intellectually superior to those that do the same for religious reasons.
- it’s okay for you to like skinny girls
- it’s okay for you to like skinny girls with big boobs and a butt
- it’s okay for you to like curvy girls
- it’s okay for you to like heavier girls
- it’s totally okay to like thighs or thigh gaps and big boobs or small boobs and big butts or little butts
- what’snot okay is telling a woman that she isn’t beautiful or sexy because she doesn’t meet your personal body type preferences
FUCKING THANK YOU. LORD.
There will always be assholes that scold people for not fitting in their personal mould for attractiveness.
The big problem is otherwise well-meaning people who decide the only way to be happy with their/their partner’s body type is to disparage others or those who prefer others.
“Real women have curves.” No, real women have all sorts of bodies and who are you to say otherwise? Feel free to love your curves but don’t tell other women that don’t have them that they’re somehow “lesser.”
“Real men like meat, only dogs want bones.” Oh? So it’s not his right to decide for himself who he’s attracted to? He is somehow a worse person for preferring petite women?
The world will never be rid of the assholes who tell someone (man or woman) to lose some weight, eat a cheeseburger or undergo some sort of surgery as some overt critique of their body. Our only hope is to stop the good and kind people from doing it without thinking.
