“Fleeting Blooms” by Angela R. Sasser.

Created as an ink drawing inside one of my Ladies of the Months Limited Edition coloring books and also for the Month of Love theme of “Beauty”!

As each fleeting bloom dies, so does her breath bring life to new buds. Splendor and decay walk hand in hand in the cycle of a flower, always dying, forever beautiful if you know where to look.

Some inspiration cross-pollination happening with the Ladies with my piece for Month of Love!

Pictures of Women created by Female Artists using a variety of mostly found, all natural materials. Many of theses are collaborative creations by a duo of artists known as Sister Golden, while others seem to be from different artists. Vicki Rawlins, part of Sister Golden explains some of their creative technique

Nothing taped, nothing glued, just Mother Nature balancing delicately on itself. The actual act of creating each piece, for me, is therapeutic, spending lots of time outside walking and foraging, truly in the moment … There’s a freedom in knowing everything I’m doing is temporary … After I finish the piece, I document it with a photograph … The last step is to recycle it all back into the earth or into my next piece.

Fruit of the Womb: The Botanical Classification of Fruit

I created this illustration to tell the story of where fruits come from. Turns out they come from flowers, and that’s why a tomato is technically a fruit. What started as a fun conversation over dinner this summer spiralled into a deep exploration into pomology, carpology, and botanical literature. Here is my attempt at visualizing all the information I’ve synthesized over these past few months into a useful reference guide.

Hope you learned something new today.
