Van abban valami ijesztő, amikor a rengeteg fotós dúvadként járkál fel-alá és jobbára próbálunk nem beleállni egymás kompozícióiba. Ennyi felajzott tekintetű, izgatottan fújtató embert is régen láttam vezetett sétán, még a Dreher gyár pincerendszere sem dobogtatta meg úgy a szíveket, mint a Vám- és Pénzügyőrség Múzeuma a Budapest100-on.

Mert a Vám- és Pénzügyőrség Múzeuma, leánykori nevén Schiffer-villa a magyar szecessziós Gesamtkunstwerk prémium ligájában játszik. Schiffer Miksa, a mágnás, a Palatinus Építő Rt. társtulajdonosa, számos bérház építtetője a bizalomgerjesztően csengő “importekszport” tevékenységgel alapozta meg vagyonát. Számomra teljesen mindegy, ez az importekszport legális, vagy sumákolós tevékenység volt-e, a lényeg, hogy Schiffert ritka jó ízléssel áldotta meg a Jóteremtő, ezért amikor családja számára új otthont kívánt, megbízta Vágó Józsefet, hogy tervezzen neki egy nem túl hivalkodó villát egy köpésre az Epreskerttől.

A ház külső megjelenése valóban szerény, majdhogynem minimál a korstílushoz képest: az archív felvételeken jól látszik, hogy egy szimpla hasáb megtoldva a bástyaszerű kinövéssel – sajnos az épületet alaposan megbolygatták, történt egy szintráhúzás meg tetőtérbeépítés és mögé egy melléképületet húztak fel, de rengeteg értékes berendezési tárgy, nyílászárók, bútorok, burkolatok úszták meg a viszontagságos időket szinte a csodával határos módon. Ennek köszönhető, hogy annyira azért nem nehéz elképzelni, milyen volt a ház, amikor még lakták.

Vágó mesterien fogta össze a belsőépítészeti munkákat is és kiváló alkotókat kért fel egyes dekoratív részfeladatok megvalósítására. Így hagyta rajta Kernstock Károly, Fémes Beck Vilmos és Kisfaludy Stróbl Zsigmond is keze nyomát a házon. Totális művészi egységre törekedtek, mégis, a monogramos kilincspajzson kívül nemigen tudnék stilisztikai vagy motivikus egységet felmutatni: az elveszett Árkádiát ábrázoló falfestmény, az ugyanebben a stílben tartott nagy üvegablakok és a havasi gyopáros, harangvirágos intarziák, “jappáni” nyomott textilek és magyaros csempék kevéssé hozhatók összhangba.

De tulajdonképpen tökmindegy, engem halálosan boldoggá tesz a tény, hogy a művészetpártolás e szép példája ilyen kivételes napokon megmutatkozik a közönség előtt. A magyar narancs klasszikus alapesete, mert bár szanaszéjjel átépítették, mert bár kevesen tudnak róla egyáltalán, hogy létezik, azért a miénk, és hirdeti Vágó József zsenialitását, amíg csak áll.

A vezetés egyébként szinte élvezhetetlen volt, a történelem fakultációs múltam kísért újra, amikor évszámokkal teletűzdelt száraz beszámolókat hallgatok, de ez is mindegy. Még sok ilyent, mint a Budapest100!

Conceived by French exhibition curator, journalist and author @marionvignal as a dialogue between architecture and contemporary art and design, the first edition of @geniusloci_experience took over @villa.angevolant, a 1920s neo-Palladian villa on the outskirts of Paris designed by the father of modern Italian design Gio Ponti. Bringing together work by more than twenty international artists and designers, several of which were specifically commissioned for the exhibition, the 9-day event not only revitalized the century-old residence and highlighted Ponti’s major inspirational themes, but also enabled visitors to experience it as a true Gesamtkunstwerk — a complete work of art.
