A quick process of my last illustration, Winter is here

My scanner rioted, but it still gives a little insight.

1/ I do a rough sketch, using Photoshop, and keep is messy and loose, then I print it and…

2/ …I clean up the lines, using an ink pen.

3/ I add values to determine my lighting and have an idea of where I’m going before starting inking.

4/ Ink ! Several layers of ink on 300g/m2 watercolor paper. Using salt for the snow flakes in the background !

5/ Scan, edit, add more values to help the eye reading the picture.

And voilà !

Winter is here.

I made this piece as I got so thrilled watching the new Game of Thrones season, where everyone is incredibly concerned (also, dragons). Can’t wait to see what will happen next to the Worried Squad ©

Lady Laena Velaryon

92 AC - 120 AC

Daughter of Lord Corlys VelaryonandPrincess Rhaenys Targaryen, wife to her cousin Prince Daemon Targaryen, dragonrider to Vhagar. She had silver-gold curly hair with a length up to her waist. She bore her husband twin daughters named BaelaandRhaena Targaryen. She gave birth for the third time, a deformed son who was short-lived. She never recovered and after three days, she died before she attempted ride her dragon.

Queen Aemma Arryn

82 AC - 105 AC

Daughter of Lord Rodrik ArrynandPrincess Daella Targaryen. She was wed to her cousin King Viserys I Targaryen. She had multiple miscarriages, then gave birth to a short-lived son. She gave birth to a healthy daughter named Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in 93 AC. She gave birth to another son named Baelon Targaryen but died the day after her death in 105 AC.

Prince Baelon Targaryen, The Spring Prince

57 AC - 101 AC

Fourth child and third son of King Jaehaerys IandQueen Alysanne, husband to his sister Princess Alyssa. He is the dragonrider of Vhagar. They had two living sons together, King Viserys IandPrince Daemon. His wife died before him due to the complications of giving birth to their third son, Aegon. The child died just months before his first birthday. He became the heir and the Prince of Dragonstone when his brother Prince Aemon died. Sadly, he died from a wound he got from a hunting trip.

King Jaehaerys I Targaryen, the Wise, the Old King

34 AC - 103 AC

The fourth child and third son ofKing Aenys IandQueen Alyssa Velaryon. Husband to his younger sister, Queen Alysanne, and together they had a total of thirteen children. He was a dragonrider to Vermithor. He became king at the age of 14 since his older brothers (AegonandViserys) were killed during his Uncle Maegor’s reign. He outlived his children and also his sister-wife. He was the longest reigning Targaryen monarch, and it was a prosperous period in Westeros. He was succeeded by his grandson, Viserys I.

Princess Daella Targaryen, Lady of the Eyrie

64 AC - 82 AC

Daughter of King Jaehaerys IandQueen Alysanne. She looks younger than she really is. Despite her kind and gentle nature, she was described as a shy girl and easily gets scared. She was married off to Lord Rodrik Arryn at the age of sixteen. She died shortly after giving birth to her only daughter, Aemma Arynn.Princess Daella is the grandmother to the famous Rhaenyra Targaryen.

First of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros: King Aegon I and his Queens, Visenya and Rhaenys.

(Planning on putting them in one picture)

King Aegon I Targaryen The Conqueror

27 BC - 37 AC

Brother-husband to VisenyaandRhaenys, father to Aenys IandMaegor the Cruel. He had purple eyes and silver-gold hair. His dragon was the black dread, Balerion. He was the first king to unite the kingdoms of Westeros.

Well, boys/men aren’t my forte when it comes to drawing. I’ll practice more on the beard tho

Princess Alyssa Targaryen

60 AC - 84 AC

Daughter of King Jaehaerys I &Queen Alysanne, sister-wife to Prince Baelon Targaryen, mother to King Viserys I&Prince Daemon, and dragonrider to Meleys. She was described as long-faced, skinny, had dirty blond tangled hair, lopsided smile and big ears. She had one eye color violet and the other color green. She broke her nose when she was six and it healed crooked. Alyssa had a warrior’s heart, she’s not a lady-like type of princess. She died from the complications of childbirth of her third child, Aegon. The child died a few months after her.

Lady Jocelyn Baratheon

54 AC - 92-129 (?) AC

Daughter of Lord Rogar BaratheonandDowager Queen Alyssa Velaryon, wife to her nephew Prince Aemon Targaryen, and mother to Princess Rhaenys Targaryen the “Queen Who Never Was”. She had dark eyes and black hair. She was one of the most beautiful woman at their time. She was the dark lady to her pale princeAemon.

I don’t know the color of her eyes. I just colored them dark bluish-violet with a hint of blue. Turned out pretty good.

Princesses Aerea & Rhaella Targaryen

42 AC - 56 AC (Aerea)

42 AC - 73 AC (Rhaella)

Twin daughters of Prince Aegon the Uncrowned&Princess Rhaena Targaryen. Aerea had silver-gold hair while Rhaella had silver hair, both had purple eyes. Aerea was the dragonrider of Balerionfor a time, and it was because of this that lead to her early demise. It was a tragedy what happened to their family and they never really bonded well together, not even with their mother. So many “what ifs” if their father Aegon survived and became king.

Princess Rhaena Targaryen

23 AC - 73 AC

Eldest daughter of King Aenys I TargaryenandQueen Alyssa Velaryon, sister-wife to Aegon the Uncrowned, mother to twins RhaellaandAerea, and dragondrider to Dreamfyre. She had lilac eyes and silver-gold hair. She was also known as one of the Black Brides for she is one of Maegor the Cruel’s wives. Her third husband was Androw Farman but like her previous marriages, it didn’t end well. Despite all the unhappiness in her life, she’s one of the strong characters in the book Fire and Blood.

“She dreamed of wolves most every night. A great pack of wolves, with her at the head. She was bigge

“She dreamed of wolves most every night. A great pack of wolves, with her at the head. She was bigger than any of them, stronger, swifter, faster. She could outrun horses and outfight lions. When she bared her teeth even men would run from her, her belly was never empty long, and her fur kept her warm even when the wind was blowing cold. And her brothers and sisters were with her, many and more of them, fierce and terrible and hers.” ~A Storm of Swords
