7.16.21 | Things are good! Things are paying off! I have a 3.8 and a 3.9 in my dual degrees masters program, I just nailed 2 interviews in both job fields I’m aiming for at premier institutions, with one more next week. My thesis is outlined, research fitting my theory. Just celebrated a friend’s birthday, my parents are coming to the city next week. Life’s just good.
If anyone’s feeling burnt out, please know that the effort you put in does pay off!
7.14.21 | I’ve shifted my museum thesis around, and found a call for papers on my last topic. The workload and importance was going to be too large to condense into a master’s thesis. Maybe a book someday. Until then, I’ve been looking into authentication of modern art styles, and have to say, I’m loving studying old rock and roll flyers.
Wk 4 (21 hrs): I’m exhausted. I do not know why. Numbers are not helping. Maybe its the heat (were back to 90) but I’m downing coffee. Also figured out some names. Also my birthday is on the 20th and I’ve been scoping the books for that date.

Wk 3 (16hr) : I’ve reached out to local sites and libraries to help with the names. Also decidedly, account books in faded script give me mild headaches. Especially when the accountant used every scrap of paper he could, meaning there’s a few accounts shoehorned together. At least I’m through the free floating ephemera.

Found out the archival materials I’m preserving are actually the papers of a Revolution-Era Spy ring set up by George Washington?? Makes me wonder how on earth we won the revolution because these papers are a mess.
Wk 2 (10hr) : Worked through MCoun accounts. Set up metadata table in Excel, to bypass the Preservica cross reference approval. Hopefully this will speed up the green lighting process. Preservica issues with loading images, keeps booting me out. Working on reading old scripts, specifically these names and spelling conventions. Moderate concerns over what characters can be read in html.
07.04.2021 // ⚜️ I finished my archival intensive on audio visual materials! I’ve always loved digging through archives, and I’m so excited for the future of digital preservation opening access on these materials.
Anyone have any favorite material they’ve worked on? Or just a favorite album?
I know everyone cites Percy Jackson, Harry Potter or The Secret History as their entry into dark academia, but I think we’ve all been forgetting these??
Literally any modern academic, astrology, historian could be tied to these. The art in them and the interactive aspects?? Forget anything else THIS was the blueprint. We all wish our bullet journals and study notes looked like these.
And also make your own book like this for your subject specialty so I can enjoy learning like a kid again. Maybe I’ll present my master’s thesis in one of these bad boys, who knows?
hey everyone! I will be starting grad school next month, and I’m getting really nervous about the workload. I’m going for my PhD in neuroscience. does anyone have any advice for their first year of grad school? I don’t want to overwork and get burnout.
I was supposed to be working on the things on my to do list but I procrastinated by rearranging the furniture in the living room and now I’m reorganising the book case… why am I like this honestly
