Today we planted our seeds! This is our first year starting from seeds. Our fingers are crossed and we’re hoping for an abundance! I said a prayer for these little guys and will continue to talk to them and encourage them. Sage, Lavender, Heirloom tomatoes, a variety of peppers, some watermelon, and more! I just love one pan meals! Hubs hasn’t been getting home until 7:30-8 pm all week so we’ve been kinda winging our meals. Last night I figured we were due for a good one, even if we ate late. Fresh carrots and potatoes out of my garden and a good homegrown chicken made one heck of a meal with little work.

A variety of seedlings have been prepared. Beans are a favorite kind because, well… also easy. Green beans, yellow. Italian, capucijners, broad… a bit of everything. They are now indoors because it still gets pretty cold at night. But, small steps are taken forward.

Speaking of easy crops: redbeets!! I have never had issues with redbeets. And once I learnt you can eat root, stalk AND leaves… I was totally sold!! what else do you want than a crop that can provide so much food for so little effort! If you don’t have a garden with earth, you can try to make one raised bed (1m2) or deep flowerpots. The more ground, the bigger they get.

We started up some radishes seedlings too this weekend. If you are starting a veggie garden, you are new to growing your own food -and happen to like radishes- it is a great crop. Grows without much effort and has a long season. Some tender leaves can be eaten in a salad and if you let them go to flower, afterwards you get these little beans. Peppery and fresh. They make a great snack.
Rabanitos is the word in spanish.
