Most of the original footage of these is from filming a friend in a white suit while things where projected onto her. Then, the footage was edited in After Effects. The heart footage was done using an original illustration of a heart by Simba Joslin, also edited in AE.
Kimchee and Chips, is a collaborative art studio based in Seoul founded by Elliot Woods (UK) and Mimi Son (S. Korea). Their works combines technical media and/or primitive materials to create interactive exhibits. They use disciplines of visual technology such as projectors, cameras, graphical computation as well as utilizing code with traditional art materials.
“Light Barrier” (2014) is a light installation consisting of convex mirrors and light to create projection of floating graphical/animating objects.
“Line Segments Space” (2013) is a spectacular light and sound installation using projection, nylon string and code. It very much resonates with works from our past 7E featured artist Jeongmoon Choi.
“Lunar Surface” (2014) is a projection image created by a vertical flag of fabric moving in wind, displaced by curves of air pressure, swinging back and forth. “As it sweeps, it extrudes a trail of light which draws a moon floating in space. The flag renders this moon from another reality, the silk surface acts as a boundary between 2 realities, intermediating the laws of the 2 realms.”

Quadratura was the technique used in the baroque to extended architecture through trompe l’oeil and perspective constructions generated with paint or sculpture. This immersive site-specific installation follows the same principles but manipulating space by means of projected light. The main axis of the room is extended and the limits of the physical space dissolved.

Quadratura fue la técnica utilizada en el Barroco para extender la arquitectura a través de la perspectiva a construcciones generadas con la pintura o la escultura. Esta instalación específica para este lugar e inmersiva sigue los mismos principios pero manipula el espacio por medio de la luz proyectada. El eje principal de la habitación se extiende y los límites del espacio físico se disuelven.

Perspection is an audiovisual installation exploring the perception of space through the use of projection on a series of specifically oriented projection surfaces and spatialized audio. Trompe l’oiel has been used throughout the history of image making in order to transport the viewer outside their physical location in the same way that contemporary CGI and virtual reality propose experiences outside one’s body or the virtual transportation of the viewer through technology. On the contrary, Perspection seeks to embed the physical experience of perception in place and create a hyperawareness of the act of perception versus a disembodiment or virtual screen space by correlating screen space with physical space.
Perspection es una instalación audiovisual que explora la percepción del espacio a través del uso proyecciones sobre una serie de superficies orientadas específicamente y audios espacializados . Trompe l’ oiel se ha utilizado a lo largo de la historia de la toma de imagen con el fin de transportar al espectador fuera de su ubicación física de la misma manera que CGI contemporáneo y la realidad virtual proponen experiencias fuera del cuerpo o el transporte virtual del espectador a través de la tecnología. Por el contrario, Perspection busca integrar la experiencia física de la percepción en su lugar y crear una hiper-conciencia del acto de percepción frente a una desencarnación o espacio de pantalla virtual mediante la correlación de espacio en la pantalla con el espacio físico.
