Aang and Korra’s struggles

i feel like earthbending never came fast to aang because earth is such a tough element LITERALLY.

to be an earth bender you have to be rough and head on, not really thinking but just doing, you know?

and aang is an air monk. he was raised to be focused and more connected spiritually, which is what air is all about. since he was so light on his feet, he didn’t know how to be headstrong and rough, which is why i believe he struggled with it so much.

and we all know that’s why airbending didn’t come right away to korra as well.

korra is a headstrong and rough avatar who’s totally hot tempered. she wasn’t connected to her spiritual side not one bit for half the series, and her air bending finally came to her at literally the last minute. in the words of meelo :

Aang - Fashion design major

• after all she is a prodigy

• Mai goes to all of her plays, literally she doesn’t miss not one

When Azula killed aang in the avatar state katara was able to revive him. Not only saving aang but saving the avatar state from seizing to exist. aang wouldn’t be here without katara. the AVATAR CYCLE wouldn’t be here without katara.
