California. 2014. Akurat ten wrzut będzie tylko z jednego wyjazdu. Wcześniej i później w Kalifornii byłem, ale niestety nie mogę odnaleźć wszystkich zdjęć. Zagubione skany, 3 negatywy zrobione w 1998 i jeden może z 1999 - wtedy miałem minoltę x300s i 10 filmów na cały wyjazd (USA, Mexico, Guatemala). Mega bieda.
W 2014 po sesji foto wraz z @ababinek pożyczyliśmy auto i ruszyliśmy w trip z Palm Springs, przez 21 Palms, Joshua Tree, Mojave, Dolinę Śmierci aż do HWY1 i potem przez Big Sur do LA. 4-5 dni mega intensywnego bycia w drodze, dziwne motele, opuszczone miasteczka, rezerwaty Indian. Bez planu, bez zatrzymywania się, po prostu przejechaliśmy dość sporą pętlą po Kalifornii aby zdążyć na samolot do domu.
Wtedy fotografowałem na sony a7r, miałem canonowskiego zooma 24-70mm 2.8 i to wszystko. Mega wygodne takie szkła, świetnie sprawdza w pracy - kiedy nie ma czasu na żonglowanie szkłami - szczególnie jak robisz video. Moja uwaga jednak jest taka, że nowe zoomy są zupełnie bez właściwości. Są dobre i zupełnie bez jaj - generyczny obrazek wychodzi, który trzeba na lightroomie zniszczyć, zmiękczyć, dodać ziarno. Teraz z perspektywy czasu myślę, że fajnie mieć 3 różne małe aparaty - stałe szkła, jeden 28mm albo 35mm, jedna mała 50tka, ale jasna f1.2-f1.4 i jeszcze jakiś dłuższy 75mm albo 85mm - ale tu może to być zoom 70-200 i najlepiej f4 (bo takie szkła są bardzo lekkie, łatwo się je przewozi, a także niedużo kosztują - np 70-200 f4 canona z lat 90tych - mały, lekki, tani). Do tego dla urozmaicenia jakaś mała lampa błyskowa - ja preferuje manualne lampy, tanie sanpaki, metze - nie potrzebuję nowoczesnych lamp z TTL, które są ogromne i zajmują w torbie masę miejsca. No ale o pakowaniu, sprzęcie, tips and tricks zamierzam więcej napisać w e-booku, który powstaje, ale jeszcze chwilę.

I met Rhombie, a Californian photographer, a couple of months ago while travelling down the West coast on a bike tour. We spent a weekend taking photo’s while cruising around Joshua Tree in her old Volvo. We shot these portraits of each other that have just been published on the Swap Project, an ongoing series of portraits by pairs of photographers.
