DIY Starry Orange Light

This is so pretty and you could make it with an LED Light to make it safe for kids. Of course the parents could do the knife work, and the kids could help do the rest.

DIY Mini Food

Updated Link 2019

Cool post from The Unconfidential Cook here on “Emma’s Tiny Treats”.

How to make the donuts:

The box of donuts is really a pill box….Emma’s holding her favorite, a cheerio dipped in chocolate, then sprinkles. The others are cheerios dipped in confectioners’ sugar and cheerios rolled in cinnamon sugar.

How to make the mini cakes:

The mini cakes are really oreos with a layer of frosting between them, then more frosting on tops and sides…plus decorations.

The cakes should “rest” before anyone tries cutting a slice so the oreos have a chance to soften and become, yes, cake-like. Emma used a small pastry tip to make florettes and tubes of colored gels for the lettering.

*NOTE: Mini Food inspired by and recipes from an American Girl book, Tiny Treats here.

Updated 2019

To Make these DIY Optical Illusion Wooden Gems, you only need three colors of paint for each color of gem - white and black being two of them. Really good tutorial for mixing your shades of paint plus these wood rectangles are so cheap at at any craft store.

*EDIT*After I posted these DIY Optical Illusion Wooden Gems on truebluemeandyou, cw.art was inspired to make polymer clay faceted gemstone canes using roughly the same color mixing technique.

3 Ingredient Flourless Fluffernutter Cookies

Don’t have marshmallow cream? From Hip2Save:

If you have marshmallows, you can combine them with light corn syrup to make your own marshmallow creme, according to SpoonUniversity.com.

Find the recipe for Flourless Fluffernutter Cookie Recipe from Hip2Save here.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup marshmallow cream
  • 1 large egg

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep a sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Use a fork to mix together peanut butter and egg.
  3. Gently fold in marshmallow cream so that you can still see streaks of marshmallow.
  4. Scoop cookie dough onto pan using small or medium sized cookie scoop. Bake for about 11-13 minutes, until slightly browned. Makes about 12 large cookies. Enjoy!

Here’s a video showing how easy these cookies are to make:

Who What Wear calls it “crafty jewelry” or jewelry you’d make at camp. I’ve posted some of their retail picks at the very bottom. Here’s what they say about this trend here:

Consisting of mismatched colorful beads, charms, flowers, letters, and more, this jewelry trend can be defined as many things, but my favorite descriptor is nostalgic.

truebluemeandyou:

DIY Tissue Paper Dyeing Fabric

Honestly WTF posted this Tissue Paper Dyeing Fabric DIY a few days ago, and I haven’t been this excited to try a new dyeing technique in months.

Some Things to Know:

  • You have to use spectra tissue paper because it will bleed onto your fabric.
  • Honestly WTF experiments with silk and synthetic fabrics. Natural fabrics work better, and I’d like to experiment using old 100% cotton to see what happens.
  • All you need is fabric, spectra tissue paper (cheap on Amazon), white vinegar to set the dye, and a spray bottle.

You could also try dyeing silk and making it into wall art - I think that would look beautiful.

Find the tutorial for dyeing you own fabric with tissue paper from Honestly WTF here.

If you read Honestly WTF’s post, you will see how easy it is to tissue paper dye fabric. I wonder if you could tissue paper dye water color paper and make cards or miniature art works.

DIY 4 Styles of Friendship Bracelets

I love friendship bracelets, but haven’t seen many being posted in a long time. I especially love the Pura Vida Inspired Multi Strand Friendship Bracelets.

DIY 3 Macrame Friendship Bracelets from Curly Made here.

I settled on 3 styles of bracelets all of them closing with a button and using waxed cotton cords. If you want them to have a more grown-up look you can make them with a satin or nylon cord and close with crimp ends and chain.

I love these friendship bracelets: DIY Pura Vida Inspired Friendship Bracelet from Curly Made here.

Besides string, you won’t even need glue or any type of hardware so these will be super inexpensive, and perfect to whip up a bunch for your friends.
