I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving

modern les mis and associated songs part I

  • Shawn Mendes as Marius - “Everybody loves me” by One republic
  • Emily Lind as Cosette - “Kings and Queens” by Ava Max
  • Mats van Snippenberg as Enjolras - “Achilles Comes Down” by Gang of Youths
  • Jorge Lopez as Grantaire - “Everybody Gets High” by MISSIO

I Watched a Les Mis Parody at my Local Theatre and Now I Can’t Stop Guffawing

Highlights

  • Javert and Valjean have a telepathic connection
  • Victor Hugo, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Cameron Macintosh (in a kilt) all make an appearance
  • Terrible french accents
  • Valjean rescues Fantine from the cart
  • Javert thinking that nobody will be able to recognize him in his ‘generic blue face-mask’
  • Little Cosette = grown ass woman
  • Les Amis threatens to burn Javert at the stake
  • Jean Valjean dies by firing squad (A.K.A a nerf gun to the chest)
  • Lots of LDS jokes
  • Flamboyantly gay Javert referencing 'don’t ask don’t tell’ at the barricades
  • Valjean knocks Gavroche out with chloroform
  • Javert yelling “I’ll get you my pretty, and your little Cosette too!” before leaping into the sewer
  • Valjean sings the Forbidden Broadway parody “Bring it Down”
  • The Phantom of the Opera makes a brief appearance
  • Valjean ultimately pushes Javert to his death
  • Fancy hat contest between Cosette, Eponine and Fantine’s ghost (with garden gnomes)
  • Bishop Myriel: “You can kiss a nun, just don’t get in the habit!”
  • Javert waving his cheeks in your general direction

Overall, probably worth the $30 ticket

When your obsession starts bleeding over into work..

Is someone here able to tell me the extent of the changes following Cammack’s restaging of Les Mis? I’ve only ever seen bootlegs and local productions. All I know is that the turntable and barricade kinda got nerfed..

Me watching Drew Sarich and Alexander Gemignani’s confrontation:

This Canadian Prep school cast a production of Les Misérables starring a brother and sister duo as Valjean and Javert!!!

They also had a female Enjolras and Feuilly, but unfortunately the show had to be canceled because of Covid

Javert and Eponine, partners in crime

JavHair: An Illustrated Analysis ⭐

  • a) Standard Ponytail: Bless Philip Quast for popularizing this look. Historical inaccuracy aside, it’s become his signature both onstage and in fanworks. Bonus points if he ties it with a ribbon!
  • b) Braid!vert: Rumored to be a Bradley exclusive..
  • c) Wrapped ponytail: I’ve only seen this style on a couple Javert’s, namely Tam Mutu and Arai’s manga-vert. Jeremy Secomb also rocked it in the 2015 London production^^
  • d) Loose hair: Another common look for post-barricade Javert. Michael Ball had the front pulled back with a cute little bow, so I went with that style!
  • e) Curly!vert: So far I’ve only seen these pretty ringlets on the likes of Jérôme Pradon, Hayden Tee and Drew Sarich but there could be other examples. Sebastiao Saramago (French Javert) also had very nice natural curls (ꈍᴗꈍ)
  • f) Bun!vert: Bun-vert needs no introduction. I’ve seen a range, from high messy buns to half-updos. So far I only know of Bradley’s, PLEASE contact me if there’s info on any others!

Don’t get me wrong, I am quite partial to clean-cut Javerts with shorter hair (here’s looking at you, Earl). I grew up more accustomed to this style, having grown up with Crowe!vert and a handful of well-kempt Javerts at my local theatre (good ol’ Utah) before I was introduced to the glory of Philip Quast and the West End. I’ve also seen some hott mulletverts, and Roland Karl (French concert Javert) made bald!vert EXTREMELY sexy. Let me know which look is your favorite!
