One of my first explorations of 2017, with my friend Hayley Grant. We took some time during our photo shoot to explore the expansive areas of this old mill and captured some fascinating images.
This was a breathtaking place to step into. With ancient pipes enguling them like a rusted vascular system, unknown machinery rose to the ceilings high above and the shadows crept in from the lower levels.
This huge building was wide open in the center, but I wanted a focal point to pose a model on, so I found this big rusty ventilation piece and painstakingly dragged it over. Made for an amazing prop!
Accompanied by my awesome assistant, I filmed this entire building for an exploration video as well as shot every creepy shadowy space I could find. It was a boiling hot day and perfect to be wandering around in the cooler interior. Without a doubt one of the best road trips of the year.
Police cruiser parked out front and officers wandering around the property, so I flew my drone overhead to find a path around. Went in through the side and got some incredible shots of the lower level.

Polar bear Station Russian-based wildlife photographer Dmitry Kokh ventured to an abandoned meteorological station on Kolyuchin Island, where polar bears have taken over the station.
Sven Fennema is a German self-taught photographer. “Reality is a matter of view", starting with the search for the right motif Fennema transcends natural boundaries. On his photographic trips he travels across Europe where he finds unique treasures to photograph. The focus of his art are “Lost Places" – Deserted places and buildings, stripped of their functions. Each of his pictures is the result of the confrontation and connection with a place, it’s atmosphere and it’s history. From this impact Fennema shapes his concept of an image – Long before he places his camera and plans all the following steps according to his imagination. Special and unexpected compositions, full of atmosphere, the absence of artificial light and resulting natural atmospheric lighting effects characterize his work.
