“They’re coming back, so we don’t have much time to talk,” Deaton explained before checking Scott’s wound, only to see a healthy scar beginning to disappear. “Delvoux blood. Powerful stuff, huh?”

“How do you know all of this?” Scott questioned as you stepped back towards Stiles, his hand instantly made his way to the small of your back. “Actually how do you know anything?”

“It’s a long story,” He replied. “What I can tell you is that I know about your kind. Your kind, I can help. Y/N, I can only tell you what I know. The rest is up to you. But this?”

He motioned over his shoulder.

“This is something different.”

“Do you know what did it?” You asked, desperately wanting to ask more questions about his previous comment but refraining due to the urgency of the situation.

“No. But the Argents will. And this is the crucial part,” Deaton looked back at Scott, speaking urgently. “They’ll have some kind of record or book. Little have descriptions, history, notations of all the things they’ve discovered.”

All the things?” Stiles whined. “How many different things are there?”

“They’re here,” Scott breathed. You both looked over at him with wide eyes before you all opted to run into the dark hallway that led towards the kennels. Scott made sure to stand the closest to the door in an effort to protect his best friends. His eyes looked over at you before slowly putting his index finger to his lips. You nodded.

“I’m starting to think I need to buy a more prominent close sign,” Deaton spoke, warning you all of their presence. Stiles noticed the fear in your eyes and took your hand in his reassuringly.

You all listened into the tense conversation; the creature had easily cut through bone and organs with a single swipe. It was evident that it was no longer just werewolves and hunters you needed to fear; this was an entirely new beast. Something faster, stronger, and more dangerous. It didn’t seek to eat prey like the usual natural predators; it’s only purpose was to kill.

After they left, Deaton told you all to go home. He didn’t want you to stay too long with this killer on the loose. You all crawled back into your car and made your way to the Beacon Hills car shop. You all spoke of the night before deciding to put a pin in the conversation so that you could all gather your thoughts and brainstorm ideas.

“Are you sure you don’t want us to come with you?” You furrowed your brows.

“Yeah, I’m sure. It’s gonna take about an hour anyway. You need to get the car back to your dad. I don’t want you to piss him off,” Stiles smiled. You sighed. “I’ll be fine. Get outta here!”

“Okay! Okay!” You laughed as he reached over to kiss your cheek before making his exit. Scott was quick to take the front seat. “God, I can’t wait to have my own car.”

“Join the club,” He chuckled before you drove away. You had intended on driving him back to his car but you took off into one of your usual conversations, stopping to sing along to one of your dad’s infamous burned CDs. You pulled into the school parking lot and parked next to Melissa’s car, only to spend the next hour and a half chatting and giggling. Once the much needed, lighthearted conversation came to a lull, you both decided to talk about the night’s events again for the next twenty minutes.

“I think it should be pretty easy to convince Allison to help us get that journal,” Scott shrugged, readjusting in his seat before sighing. “I’m actually still a little bummed that she canceled on me tonight. I was really looking forward to seeing her tonight.”

“Oh, I’m sure you were,” You rolled your eyes, making him laugh. “Hey, at least you got to spend time with your best friend!”

“Yeah, except he had to go to the shop,” Scott smirked. Your jaw dropped as you playfully punched his arm.

“Asshole!” You laughed.

“I’m kidding! I’m kidding!” He giggled. “This has actually been really nice.“

The sound of your distinct ringtone went off, reminding you that it had been well over an hour since you’ve heard from your boyfriend. You looked down and saw his caller ID.

“Hold that thought,” You smiled before answering. “Hello?”

“Y/N. Could you come pick me up?” Stiles’ voice sounded frantic.

“Yeah. What’s wrong?” You sat up, gaining Scott’s full attention. The car fell to silence, only the sound of the faint rainfall and phone call protruded through it.

“I saw the monster,” His voice was shaky. “I have no clue how it did it but it paralyzed me somehow.”

“Oh my god. Are you okay?” You felt your heart sink.

“Yeah,Iam but..” He trailed off. Just from the way he spoke, you knew he saw the monster claim its latest victim. He sighed. “Can you, uh.. could you come pick me up?“

“We’re on the way,” You responded. Scott buckled in again as you sped back towards Tucker’s garage. It didn’t take very long to arrive seeing as you frantically sped down the streets of Beacon Hills. You were greeted with a line up of cop cars and ambulances. “What the hell..?”

Scott looked over to catch Stiles walk towards the car before taking a seat in the back of your father’s car. You both turned to him, hearing his shaky breaths. The rain had now picked up. He was soaked.

“I saw it. I had temporary paralysis too but it didn’t come anywhere near me. I think it was from skin contact to its venom,” He began, looking at his hands. He went on to explain everything he saw and experienced that night; the reptilian beast, the way it crushed Tucker, the way it just ran away after seeing him. “Deaton was right. It’s not like you. I mean, its eyes were almost, like… reptilian. But there was something about them.”

“What do you mean?” Scott asked.

“You know when you see, like, a friend in a Halloween mask, but all you can see are their eyes? And you feel like you know ‘em, but you just can’t figure out who it is?” Stiles finally looked up, careful to avoid your gaze. Your soft, caring, ever-loving gaze; it would cripple him emotionally after witnessing the horrendous death of a man. You didn’t take it to heart, you knew him well enough to realize that he was trying his hardest to push off the impending panic attack.

“Are you saying you know who it is?” Scott furrowed his brow.

“No,” Stiles shook his head, looking back down for a second. “But I think it knew me.”

———

You dropped Scott off at the school once again before driving back to your place. The second he hopped in front, you didn’t pressure him to talk. You simply took his hand in yours and asked, “Your place or mine?”

“Can we drop by my house so I can pick up some clothes? I can’t drive us to school tomorrow because they’re impounding my Jeep,” Stiles’ eyes wandered to your delicate hand in his own, rubbing at the back of it with his thumb.

“I almost forgot about that. Yeah, for sure,” You nodded, making a quick stop at his house and quickly returning to your father’s apartment. You explained enough of the night’s events to your dad. He wasn’t angry and even agreed to letting Stiles stay the night again. You warmed up leftovers and ate in a comfortable silence before going to bed.

Stiles finally opened up about the night; not just the events but how they made him feel. The task that had been impossible in the past was effortless when he had you in his arms. Being vulnerable around you was second nature now, especially when you rubbed his chest the way you were in that moment.

You fell asleep before him, and with that, so did his racing mind. His thoughts slowly came to a stop the more he talked to you, but nothing calmed him down more than when he heard the familiar sounds of your drowsy breathing. He rested easy with your arm wrapped lazily around his torso as you slept peacefully beside him.

———

“I’m so sorry about the other day. I’m trying. We’ll get through this. Uh, I know, because I love you. I love you more than-“ Stiles cut himself off at the sound of your giggles, looking away from Scott before groaning. “Oh, my God, I can’t. You and Allison just have to find a better way to communicate.”

“Come on, you guys are the only ones that we can trust!” Scott pleased before shifting his attention to you. “Is she coming to the game tonight?”

“Mhm. She said she wouldn’t miss it for the world,” You smiled. “But we really need to get that journal. I’d offer to go talk to her but I have class in a couple minutes.”

“I think Deaton meant to call it a Bestiary,” Stiles replied.

“What?” Scott asked.

“A Bestiary.”

“I think you mean bestiality,” Scott giggled.

“No, dumbass. It’s like an encyclopedia of mythical creatures,” You chuckled.

“How am I the only one who doesn’t know anything about this stuff?”

“Okay, you’re our best friend, you’re a creature of the night… It’s kind of, like, a priority of ours,” Stiles explained.

“Okay. If we can find it, it can tell us what this thing is-“ Scott began.

“And who,” You chimed in.

“…We need that book!” The boys shouted simultaneously.

“Keep me updated?” You stood up, gathering your book and binder into your arms. “I really need to get to class.”

———

“She thought it was bestiality too?!” You threw your head back in laughter as you drove Stiles to the Lacrosse field for the game. “I do not want to know what’s going on in their heads.”

“That’s exactly what I said!” He grinned. “Thanks for the ride. I gotta go warm up! I love you!”

“I love you too,” You giggled, getting out of the car. The stadium was already filling up with eager lacrosse fans.

Your eyes panned over the crowd, seeing Allison sitting with her grandfather and making a mental note to steer clear until she gave you the signal for when she got a hold of the keys. You opted to take a seat next to Melissa, hugging her as you greeted her.

“Hi, sweetheart!” She grinned, holding you tightly before scooting over and patting the seat next to her. “I was saving you a seat.”

“Thank you!” You smiled, happily plopping down next to her.

“I find it so odd that you want to sit next to me instead of your friends,” She laughed.

“We’ve been lacrosse buddies since middle school! I’m not about to give up that title just because I made new friends this year,” You shrugged. “Plus, you’re cooler than they are.”

“You mind telling Scott that?” Melissa joked, making you chuckle. “Oh! It’s starting!”

You watched as the boy nicknamed The Abomination plowed through a good percentage of the team, leaving Coach no choice but to play the kids he would otherwise never give a chance. You looked over at Allison to see her holding out three fingers as the keys dangled from her hand. The signal.

“I’ll be right back,” You excused yourself.

“Okay, sweetie,” Melissa smiled. “I’m gonna go get some popcorn.”

You both got up and walked your separate ways. You made your way to Allison, reaching for the keys, only to see Stiles’ hand beat you to it. He looked back and smirked as you jogged to catch up to him, making his way to the school.

“Hey! That was my job,” You giggled.

“Sorry, I just couldn’t stand to watch that Hulk of a man break another set of legs,” He shivered.

Jesus, that guy is OP as fuck,” You huffed. “You think he’s a werewolf?”

“No, Scott would’ve noticed by now I think,” He shook his head.

“Oh, so he’s on steroids,” You smiled at the ground as you stepped onto the sidewalk.

“Oh yeah. Man’s roided up,” He chuckled. “Man, I really thought it was him too. I don’t think this is gonna be as easy as we thought it was.”

“What? Who said this was gonna be easy?” You laughed.

“Scott,” Stiles paused as you raised your brows. “Okay, yeah. That’s on me for believing him. He’s a dumbass.”

Such a dumbass. But he’s our dumbass,” You commented, making him chuckle.

You continued to talk for a few more minutes before you heard sobbing coming from a familiar car. “Oh my god. Is that Lydia?”

“Fuck,” You breathed. “I should probably go talk to her. You good going in by yourself?”

“Yeah, it should be easy enough. Go check up on her, I got this covered,” He smiled, giving you a quick kiss before jogging into the building. You drew in a breath, still a little bitter about the way she treated you the other night. Regardless, you swallowed your pride and walked up to her car.

“Hey, Lydia,” You said softly, making her jump. “It’s just me. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” She wiped her tears. “It’s okay if you don’t wanna talk. I’ve been such a bitch to you lately.”

“Yeah, maybe a little,” You smiled, making her chuckle through the tears. “But you’re still my friend. Can I hop in?”

“I don’t wanna talk about it… but, uh.. I could use some company,” She said as you settled into her passenger’s seat.

“Okay,” You nodded, placing a reassuring hand on her back. Lydia cried for a few more minutes as you gently rubbed up and down her back. Once she collected herself again, she apologized for her behavior at the rink. You smiled, hearing the sincerity in her voice alone was enough to forgive her. You spent the next half an hour trying to cheer her up by talking about anything that came to mind. You even began making her laugh towards the end.

“I really appreciate you, Y/N. This year has been…” She drew in a breath before continuing. “Rough, to say the least. You and Allison were the only good things that came out of it. Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Just for being you. Thank you,” She reached forward for a hug you gladly accepted. “But I’m really tired from the crying. I think I’m gonna call it a night.”

“Okay, drive safe. Call me if you need someone to talk to,” You smiled before getting out of the car. You looked at your phone to see if Stiles had texted.

7:32 PMStiles: THIS JOURNAL IS SO HARD TO FIND FOR WHAT

7:40 PM Stiles:oh, hope she’s okay lol

7:43 PM Stiles: i’m like 90% sure it’s not in here but i’ll keep looking :/

You chuckled at his messages, looking at the building to see the principal’s office lit up. You walked towards the entrance, only the sound of your feet to keep you company. The path was darker than usual, it seemed like a few light posts had gone out recently. You felt a funny feeling arise in your chest before you noticed a second pair of footsteps behind you. They were much too heavy and calculated to belong to your boyfriend.

You turned around and held out a defensive hand, ready to use any type of magic to ward off the potential threat. You watched Isaac gasp and flinch.

“Jesus! Be careful with that thing!” He breathed. “I’m not here to hurt you.”

“That’s hard to believe,” You scoffed, refusing to put your hand down. You wanted to make your hand ooze with black smoke to intimidate him but knew you’d probably end up hurting him on accident. You hadn’t gotten around to training your powers so they were incredibly unpredictable. Seeing as he hadn’t tried anything, that option seemed a little premature. “What do you want?”

“I’d like for you to put your hand down,” He chuckled. You didn’t cave in. “Or not. That’s fine. Look, I just wanted to apologize for the other day.”

“I don’t need to hear your heartbeat to know that’s a hot load of shit, Lahey,” You rolled your eyes, putting your hand down cautiously.

“I’m not,” He began. “I really do feel bad-“

“Feel bad for trying to beat up my best friend or siding with the bad guy?”

“Uh, both?”

“I have somewhere to be,” You spoke with annoyance.

“I’m serious, you know,” He called as you turned around. “Just know my intentions are never to hurt you.. or your friends. I’m following my alpha’s lead but I draw the line with you.”

“Because of my blood?” You narrowed your eyes.

“Not exactly. Remember that night when I first turned and you did that thing with your eyes to stop me from killing Stiles?” He looked around, stepping closer as he lowered his voice. “I don’t know what type of witchy bullshit that was but I literally can’t bring myself to hurt you. And I’ve tried. But it’s like I get paralyzed. And I can’t get you out of my mind. I’m constantly thinking of you to the point that it has been getting in the way of my training. I think you made some sort of bond that night.”

“Did Derek tell you to say that?” You scoffed, making his face drop.

“What? No,” He was offended. “He’d probably kill me if he knew I was telling you this.”

“I don’t believe you,” You shrugged. He paused, narrowing his eyes with an amused smile plastered on his face.

“Your heart skipped a beat,” He leaned against the stairway’s railing.

“Look, I’m sure I left some sort of impression but a bond would require us both to feel that way. And I don’t. But even if I do believe you, what do you expect me to do about it?” You snapped. “Did my heart skip a beat that time?”

“You’re pretty when you’re mad.”

“Wanna see how pretty I look when I send you flying into the parking lot?” You smiled sarcastically, making him quickly glance at your hand to make sure you weren’t acting on your threat. You smirked, almost feeling guilty at how much satisfaction his fear gave you.

You felt the familiar sinking feeling in your stomach pull your gaze towards stands before a panicked roar on the field erupted. You felt a magnetic pull towards Scott.

“You better go check on him,” He looked over at the field. “That didn’t sound too good.”

You quickly jogged back around the stands and to the field only to be greeted by a crowd that was making its way towards a wounded player on the ground. You quickly ran around them and saw Scott sprawled out with his right heel practically touching his right elbow. You darted up next to him and Allison, sliding a bit on your knees as you beat the crowd to him.

“Oh my god, your leg!” Your heart clenched empathetically.

“Pull me up,” Scott breathed as the crowd began gathering round.

“But-“

“Y/N. Pull me up please!” He pleaded urgently. You extended your hand as he rose up from the ground before wrapping an arm around you for stability.

“Don’t move!” Coach ordered.

“Scott!” His mother called.

“It’s okay! It’s okay!” He chuckled. “I’m fine! I’m fine.”

“I could’ve sworn I literally hear bone breaking from where I sat,” Melissa breathed.

Heard it? I felt it,” Coach added.

“Guys, seriously, I’m fine.”

“We should go,” Allison walked up to her grandfather.

“Hold on,” Gerard paused as the crowd dispersed. “I wanna ask him one more thing.”

You stuck around to hear Gerard invite you both to dinner, not taking any excuses as an answer. You were about to protest one last time before Scott agreed. You shot him a glare. “We’ll be there!”

“Ah! That’s what I like to hear!” The old man grinned, walking away as he called out again. “We’ll meet you there after the game.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?!” You hissed after he was gone, taking his hand off of your shoulder. “We?!We’ll be there? No. No, no, no. I’m not going with you!”

“Y/N, please? I-“

No, Scott!” You shouted, earning a few glares from the players who walked back on the field. You rolled your eyes and guided Scott back toward the sideline as the game started up again. “I’m tired of playing along with this stupid fucking charade! You saw the way Stiles reacted last time! No way.”

“Just this once!” Scott begged. “I mean.. This will be the last time! I swear to God. I’ll tell Stiles about everything, okay? I’ll send him a text right now. He can’t get mad if this stupid fucking charade saves my life! Not to mention, there won’t be any hiding or lying! Please!”

“Scott,” You groaned.

“Please. Please. Ple-“

“OKAY FINE!” You exclaimed. “Oh my god. Are you twelve? You fucking owe me big time! Call him and explain right now. And if he’s not cool with it, you’re on your own, got it?”

“Okay! Okay! I will! Thank you!”

You smiled and flipped the bird before taking your seat next to Melissa once again. You both chatted as Scott grinned and shot you a thumbs up, running back into the last couple minutes of the game.

8:14 PMStiles:i’m gonna kill him. those cold-blooded murder documentaries you watch will make a whole ass episode dedicated to me

8:15 PMY/N: dedicated to us*

8:15 PMStiles: THIS. this is why i love you

8:16 PMStiles: btw can’t find the journal. i’m gonna try to look around the secretary’s office now. i’ll call if i need you

You smiled and turned off your phone to watch the rest of the game.

———

“Oh, good! You’re back. Dinner’s almost ready,” Mrs Argent called from the kitchen as the four of you wandered into her home.

“How was the game?”

“Why don’t you ask the star player?” Gerard smiled. The couple’s gazes shifted disapprovingly to your best friend.

“Hi,” He pursed his lips.

The dinner was eaten in awkward silence. Small chat was attempted by Gerard to no avail. You kept your eyes low, smiling from time to time as you looked around.

“Alright,” Gerard wiped his hands off with a baby blue napkin. “Why is everyone so quiet? Is it that uncomfortable that they dated?”

You almost choked on the green bean you swallowed at the way her parents looked at Scott.

“Did you ask them if they’d be uncomfortable?” Chris questioned.

“Okay, I know it’s been a few centuries since I was a teenager, but even back then, we dated and broke up all the time!” His father smiled.

“We’re fine. Besides, they’re dating now,” Allison smiled. “Right, Scott?”

It took every ounce of you to hold back an eye roll when you saw the look of utter admiration on Scott’s face when he responded; he couldn’t help but to look at Allison as if she’d hung the stars. “Yup.”

“You two are dating?” Mrs Argent questioned. You smiled and nodded. “You will never cease to amaze me with the women you manage to pull.”

“That’s exactly what my mom said too,” Scott chuckled, choosing to ignore the obvious insult.

“Oh, I see,” Gerald sighed. “Y/N’s the reason you broke up.”

“No!” You all tried to speak at the same time, pausing when you realized how quick the unanimous response was.

“No, uh..” Scott wiped his mouth before continuing. “Things just got.. complicated between me and Allison. We broke up way before we got together. I only caught feelings for Y/N when we were both nursing each other’s broken hearts from our previously failed relationships. Our families are really close so they always said it was only a matter of time.”

That was oddly convincing, you thought, impressed at the effortless fib.

“Plus, Allison broke up with me,” He finished. You choked down a laugh at the way Allison’s mouth dropped open.

“No offense, Scott,” Chris spoke up with a forced smile. “But I think maybe Allison felt the two of you were just growing apart.”

“As if the father’s opinion isn’t biased,” Gerard interjected. “How do you know they weren’t as passionate as Romeo and Juliet?”

Your lips parted at his rude comment. Even as his fake girlfriend, that fucking hurt! Why would he even say that in front of his (fake) girlfriend?

“Well, Romeo and Juliet commuted ritual suicide,” You deadpanned, earning a smile from Chris.

“Exactly. They could’ve used a little less passion,” He agreed.

“Can we please talk about something else?” Allison blushed.

“Brilliant idea,” Her mother muttered.

“Scott,” Chris instructed. “How about you help me grab dessert from the kitchen?”

You turned to him with wide eyes as he got up, knowing that couldn’t be good. The two walked out of the room and disappeared behind the door, leaving the four of you alone. You smiled up at Allison, desperately trying to change the mood. “So, uh, how’d you do on the Econ exam?”

“A, you?” She mirrored your expression.

“Same,” You giggled.

“Smart girl,” Gerard chuckled. “Victoria, did you know Y/N is well on her way to becoming the valedictorian in their grade?”

“No, I actually didn’t,” She replied. “There’s a lot of new things I’m learning about her tonight.”

“She also knows French!”

“Oh?”

“Uh, yeah,” You laughed uncomfortably at the spotlight, not quite knowing how he knew that about you. “My dad taught it to me growing up. He worked internationally in France and Canada so I also picked it up when we traveled.“

“French!” Gerard grinned. “Our family comes from France!”

“Mine too,” You smiled and decided to compliment Mrs Argent on the meal. “Mes compliments au chef. C’est magnifique.”

Merci beaucoup,” She thanked you with a smile as the men returned with the dessert. The table fell to silence once again.

“Do you mind if we’re excused?” Allison asked. “There’s actually some notes from English I need to go over with these two.”

“Mhm,” Gerard responded sweetly before the three of you got up and followed Allison up to her grandfather’s room. You all looked around quietly for the leather bound journal for a few seconds before Allison pulled back a jacked from a piece of furniture only to reveal a safe.

“There goes that plan,” She frowned.

“Wait..” You furrowed your brow. “Scott, people use stethoscopes to crack the code on those things all the time. What if you-“

“Already on it,” He grinned, he kneeled down beside the safe and pressed his ear up to it as he fumbled with the knob, opening it only seconds after.

“Do you wanna hit a few banks later?” Allison asked, making you all chuckle. Scott grabbed the leather journal, seeing only old recipes written on the pages. “Oh my god. It’s a cookbook.”

He placed it back in the safe before your phone buzzed. You grabbed it to see Stiles calling.

“Y/N, no,” Scott ordered. “Shut it off. We can’t-“

“Hey, I’m a little busy,” You answered regardless. “Can I-“

“Y/N!” His voice echoed as the sound of water splashing filled the background. “That lizard thing is here and I’m trapped with Derek at the school’s pool. I need your help! Bring Scott!” He said breathless and with urgency.

“Okay, okay, we’re on the way!” You looked at Scott before the phone call ended. “We need to go.”

“What? What about the book?” Allison asked with concern.

“We’ll figure it out later,” Scott kissed her. “Stiles needs our help.”

You all ran downstairs to bid her family a polite farewell before you hopped back in Scott’s mom’s car and took off. You arrived in a matter of minutes, running straight in.

“WAIT!” Scott ran up in front of you. “Stay behind me. I don’t want you getting hurt.”

“Okay. Go! Go!” You turned him by his shoulder before you both took off running again, whipping corners and descending from stair cases similarly to when Peter kept you all hostage in the school for a night. Scott burst through the doors to reveal two very tired men in the pool. You saw Stiles reach for the diving post in an effort to stop swimming before he and Derek sank into the water. Scott growled, shifting into his werewolf self, and pulled them out.

“Oh my god, are you alive?” You breathed out as you cupped his cheeks in your hands. He breathed heavily but nodded. “Derek, you alright?”

As you spoke you saw a figure on all four approach at an ungodly speed. You looked up in fear, holding your hands up and closing your eyes. You didn’t even think to use magic, but it seemed to come naturally when you were angry or afraid. It still controlled you. You felt the familiar black smoke surround your hands but were too afraid to open your eyes to reveal what you’d done.

“Oh my god,” Stiles muttered. “How the hell are you doing that?”

You finally opened your eyes to see the creature jump over a sort of translucent black mist surrounding the three of you, instead it went for Scott. You couldn’t tell if it was some sort of force field or if provided you al with invisibility. Maybe it was something else entirely. To be frank, you couldn’t care less. Because whatever you just did, it was working.

“I don’t know,” You shook your head, looking over in time to see Scott fly into a mirror. “But stay inside of it.”

“What do you mean? No, don’t go out there!” He shouted.

“I’m getting really tired of playing good girl and listening to everyone’s damn orders today,” You murmured as you stepped foot outside of the mist. “HEY!”

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?” Scott cried as the lizard looked over at you before approaching. You held out your hands, feeling them kick you back as you sent a force flying into the creature, sending it flying with bone shattering force to the opposite wall. It quickly got back to its feet and shot you a look of utter anger before charging once again.

You felt a bigger kickback when you sent another force out of your hands, sending it flying back for a second time. It landed with a thud, grunting a little before hesitantly getting back up.

It quickly snapped out of its fear. With a look of death, it ran at you with its full speed, almost not giving you enough time to prepare. Almost. You screamed, feeling the same black mist that surrounded Stiles and Derek begin to appear on your hands. This time it was darker than ever, hiding your hands completely in its smoke. You sent as much force into it as you could. It flew back and fell into the ground. Silence followed when the creature didn’t so much as twitch.

“What the fuck, Y/N!?” Scott shouted with anger from his wall. “We aren’t fucking killers. Why’d you do that?!”

“It’s not dead!” You argued.

“It looks pretty dead to me,” Stiles grumbled as the black mist around him dispersed.

“You need to get in control of your fucking powers. Don’t let them control you! You caved into your urge to kill tonight-“

“I don’t have an urge to kill!” You argued. “I’m not like you!”

“You’re right. Because I can actually control it,” He contended. Your lips parted in disbelief.

“Guys, maybe we should just-“ Stiles began.

“I recognized that look, Y/N. I was the same way!”

“I didn’t mean to fucking kill it, Scott!” You shouted. “I just wanted to stun it so we can get the fuck out of here. We’re wasting time! So let’s go!”

“There’s a teenager in there that you might’ve just murdered and you want to leave?!” He was persistent. He wanted to have one of your infamous arguments. At times, the two of you were capable of arguments that only siblings could bounce back from. Good thing you were bonded. “Own up to your actions!”

“I DIDN’T KILL IT!” You snapped. “Look, Scott! It’s breathing. And you should be thanking me because you didn’t exactly have that fight under control.”

“Guys?” Stiles’ spoke cautiously. “The monster-“

“Yes, I did!”

“No, you didn’t!” You spoke to him in a condescending tone. “I had it under control. And for that matter, I fucking savedyou!”

“Hey! Hello?! Guys!” Your boyfriend raised his voice to no avail. “It’s g-“

“At what cost?!” Scott pointed over to where the monster laid, only to see it was gone. “Where’d it go?”

Your heart dropped at the sight. You walked back towards Scott out of habit as you both looked around. He picked up a shard of the broken mirror as a defense.

Suddenly, the monster jumped from high ground and appeared beside Scott, hissing before it walked at an eerily slow pace. Whatever it’s next move was, it was calculated. Scott held out the mirror and snarled.

The monster took a glance and tilted its head. It seemed to be entranced at the sight. You both furrowed your brows in confusion before it jumped on the wall beside you and climbed out of the room, breaking the glass ceiling on its way.

“Now who saved who?” He said smugly.

“Can we just drop it? It’s alive, alright? The argument is over,” Stiles sighed.

“The argument’s not about the fact it’s alive. It’s about how she almost killed an innocent person.”

Innocent? Oh my god!” You scoffed. “I’m so tired of talking about this!”

“Then stop talking and listen!”

“All I’ve been doing is listening to you! The fake relationship, the dinner with the Argents- Scott, I basically obey your every command! Even when I know for a fact that you’re wrong!” You paused, seeing his face fall slightly. You breathed heavily from the force exerted, both from the yelling and the magic. “You know what? Never mind. I’m done with this conversation.”

You turned on your heels and marched out of the auditorium, making your way to his car. You barely held it together as you walked out of the building, feeling you vision blur as you looked at the empty parking lot. You wiped at the stray tears on your cheeks and tried to collect yourself before the whole group walked out.

You’d stuck through thick and thin with Scott. You defended him since you were children. You were his shoulder to cry on, his rock. You helped him master his new powers and never doubted his morals or his heart. Out of all people, you’d assumed that he would be the one to understand what it feels like to be controlled by supernatural abilities and the process of learning how to control them. He was doubting your morality simply because it didn’t align with his own. He was doubting you as a person, a friend, simply because you almost killed a beast that has claimed numerous victims and would continue to do so unless it was put down.

Yet, you didn’t know how to feel; betrayed because of his lack of confidence in you, or afraid. He was normally the last person to question your motives. Could he be right? Were your thoughts, your conscious, being corrupt by the black magic?

“Hey, you okay?” Stiles’ voice interrupted your thoughts. You turned around, making his soft smile fade at the sight of your tears. “Oh, Y/N..”

He reached out for you, pulling you into an embrace. His hands gently rubbed your back as you heard your faint sniffles against the crook of his neck. “Sorry it took me so long to come out here. I had to yell at him for a couple of minutes for being such a dick to you.”

“Really?” You chuckled, making him smile.

“Yeah, my voice actually feels a little hoarse now,” He cleared his throat as you giggled and pulled away slightly to look him in the eye. “And I normally don’t really get involved in your arguments but that was so out of pocket.”

“Agreed,” You smiled as he wiped the last of your tears. “Thanks for always standing up for me.”

“Of course,” He let out a breathy chuckle. “We’re in this together now, right?”

“Yeah, but you’ve done that ever since we were kids.”

“It’s because I’ve liked you ever since we were kids,” He admitted. “Scott never stood a chance when it came to whose side I’d pick in an argument. Especially after that one time he threw away that flash drive that had our fifth grade field trip pictures on it just because his hair looked weird. You were so-”

“Flash drive..” You repeated quietly.

“Yeah, remember? You took pictures of us at Disneyland-“

“Oh my god. Stiles,” Your eyes lit up as you looked back at the school. “Gerard’s keys had a flash drive! Do you think the bestiary was on it?”

“God, you’re so fucking hot when you do that,” He grinned before you both took off into the school. You quickly grabbed the keys from the principal’s office, ran past Stiles’ locker to grab his laptop, and darted back to Scott’s car to look at the contents.

Within a matter of a couple minutes, the two of you set up a makeshift desk on the hood of his car and scrolled through the documents on the flash drive. Scott made his way back over to the two of you.

“Is this the bestiary?” He spoke up hesitantly.

“If you can call it that. Is this even a language?” Stiles huffed.

“It’s Latin,” You recognized some of the words from the Romance languages you spoke.

“How long would it take you to learn Latin?” Stiles asked you.

“Using magic? I could probably learn it in a matter of a week and translate it.”

“A week?!” Scott asked. “I don’t know if we have that long. We need to figure out what this thing is now.”

“It’s called the Kamina,” Derek approached with his pets alongside him.

“You knew the whole time?” Stiles’ tone was nothing shy of annoyed.

“No. Only when it was confused by its own reflection.”

“It doesn’t know what it is,” Scott said.

“Or who,” Derek affirmed.

“What else do you know?” Stiles questioned. You slipped your hand in his for emotional support, receiving a squeeze.

“Just stories. Rumors.”

“But it’s like us?” Scott asked.

“It’s a shape-shifter, yes. But it’s not right. It’s like a..” Derek paused to think about how to phrase his next sentence.

“An abomination,” You finished, earning all eyes on you before Derek frowned and nodded. He turned to leave before Scott called his name.

“Derek! We need to work together on this. Maybe even tell the Argents-“

“You trust them?” He hissed.

“Nobody trusts anyone. That’s the problem!” Scott snapped. That’s rich coming from you, you thought. “While we’re here arguing about who’s on what side, there’s something scarier, stronger, and faster than any of us, and it’s killing people! And we still don’t even know anything about it!”

“I know one thing,” Derek lowered his voice. “When I find it, I’m gonna kill it.”

Your eyes widened, knowing it was a promise and not a threat. You looked over at Stiles who wore a similar expression.

“We have to save that kid,” Scott turned with a huff. “We can’t let him get away with murdering it.”

You stayed quiet. To be completely truthful, you disagreed. You thought it was morally wrong to keep it alive. It not only risked the lives of countless people, but you had a feeling there was no negotiation that could be done to lure it back to normal. It was unethical to keep it alive. The last thing you wanted to see was the people in this town, the people you loved and grew up with, torn to shreds one by one.

“You don’t agree?” Scott asked you. He scoffed. “When did you become so heartless?”

“Hey, back off, man,” Stiles stepped in as your eyes darkened with anger. “We can settle this when the topic isn’t so fresh. Let’s regroup tomorrow, alright? We don’t wanna speak out of anger.”

The ride was filled with tense silence. Scott dropped you both back off at Stiles’ house before leaving to pick Melissa up from her late shift.

———

“You okay?” Stiles asked, kneeling down in front of you. “You wanna talk about it?”

You shook your head.

“Wanna take a shower?” He followed up. You nodded and he grabbed a few of his old garments before you made your way to his bathroom.

The scalding hot water seemed to be the only thing that had relaxed your tense muscles. The anger slowly washed off with the grime from the day. You got to thinking about the night’s events.

When you got angry, it was hard to distinguish which thoughts were truly yours and which ones came from the magic’s toxicity. Every part of you screamed at you, telling you were right. That thing did deserve to be put down. And you would’ve done it yourself if it meant saving those you loved. You didn’t feel as if you were talking with your emotions or with a black-misted mind. It seemed rational. But if you couldn’t tell last time, what was the difference now?

You allowed these thoughts consume you as you mindlessly washed your body before turning off the water and drying off. You tossed on your boyfriend’s clean clothes and made your way back to his room to see him on his computer.

“All yours,” You mumbled, still deep in thought as your dried your hair.

“Okay,” He nodded, looking over at you. He noticed your shoulders and overall stance ease with the shower. “I’ll be quick.”

And he was. It was only a few minutes before he wandered back in, rubbing the towel fiercely against his hair and discarding it in the corner of his room. You laid on his bed, stomach down with your head resting on your hand. You were so zoned out that you didn’t even notice him enter.

“What’s on your mind, baby?” He sat down beside you and rubbed your back. “You’re worrying me.”

“Was I wrong?” You flipped on your side to look at him. “I feel like I can’t tell if I speak and act with my mind or my magic-intoxicated subconscious anymore.”

“Honestly? I have no clue who’s right or wrong. I don’t think it’s a question of if the magic is fucking with your mind, it’s more about the morality behind the situation. I mean, personally, my morals lie with the best interest of those I love, but I don’t necessarily know if that’s a good or bad thing. I guess you’re both right in a sense,” He shrugged, placing his hand on the soft curve of your neck. “It wasn’t an uncalled-for discussion. But the way Scott went about it was all wrong.”

“That was such a pageant girl answer,” You huffed, making him chuckle.

“You’re right. What I meant to say is you’re so right! Fuck Scott. You know what? Fuck morality and ethics for that matter! Let’s just run away and never come back!” He said, making you giggle. “What do you think? Scotland? New York City? Ooh, what about Mexico?”

“I hear Mexico is pretty this time of year,” You smiled.

“México it is!” He cheered before you both burst into a fit of laughter. You sat up, wanting to shift the conversation to a more serious topic.

“So what about you? How are you doing after tonight?” You asked.

“Exhausted. Sore. Traumatized,” Stiles admitted. “I don’t think I’ve exerted that much energy since like elementary school when we played that two week long round of tag.”

“That bad?!” You laughed, recalling the sweet childhood memory.

One summer, you all decided to play a ‘never-ending game of tag’. When you weren’t it, you’d avoid the boys like the plague. When you were tagged, be it from one of them hid in your closet or invaded your soccer practice to tag you, you’d sneak into their own houses, t-ball games, or ask their parents for a ride somewhere to try to tag them. You all barely slept towards the end in fear of one of your friends tagging you in your sleep.

At one point, you and Scott decided to chase Stiles around Beacon Hills for hours, not telling him who was it. You didn’t stop until he fell and sprained his ankle. It was only one of the various injuries you’d all acquired in the midst of the two week long chaos. All of your parents scolded you and forbid you from ever playing tag for longer than a few hours a week.

“Almost. I’d argue that last day of tag was still, to date, the most exhausting experience of my life,” He spoke as he got under the blankets, patting the spot next to him so you’d join. You gladly abided, taking your usual position; your leg lazily tossed on top of his own while you rested your head on his chest.

“I’m so sorry,” You sighed. “I can’t even imagine. I wish I would’ve checked on you earlier.”

“It wasn’t your fault,” He yawned and kissed your forehead. “Don’t feel bad. It led to us figuring out what the hell that thing was. I will, however, need two to four business days to recover before we even think about having sex though.”

“Damn it. I was hoping we’d do it tonight.”

“Really?! Because I was totally kidding! I’m fine. I’m not even sore!” He sat up quickly, making you laugh. “You were kidding weren’t you? That was a mean joke. Don’t ever do that again.”

“Okay, okay, I’m sorry!” You giggled, looking up at him. “I’m actually really drained from today anyway. Let’s just sleep tonight and maybe reconsider in two to four business days?”

“Okay, as long as you aren’t holding out for me. Because I could totally perform FYI,” He yawned, making it very evident that he could not. “I was just warming up in the pool earlier.”

“Oh? So you and Derek were-“

“I knew your dirty mind would say something as soon as the words left my mouth,” Stiles interrupted. “Goodnight, asshole.”

“I love youuu,” You smiled up at him. He failed at holding back one of his own.

“I love you too,” He grumbled dramatically before reaching over to turn off the lamp on his nightstand.

Chapter 3

S2Episode Three

SUMMARY: Y/N and Stiles keep getting cockblocked. The pack goes ice skating. Y/N can’t stop resisting the urge to use her powers.

WORD COUNT: 7000 (damn wtf i went OFF with this chapter. had so much fun writing this omg)

TW: Sexual language, cursing, blood. What else is new bitches

“A tail?” You furrowed your brow as you looked over at Stiles. “Like a dog tail? Did it wag?”

“What? Only you would ask if it wagged,” He stopped to look at you with sass. “No, it did not wag, and no, it was not like a dog tail! Scott said it was almost.. lizard-like.”

“Gross,” You mumbled.

“Anddangerous,” Stiles deadpanned, looking up at Scott and Allison. You both stood in silence for a moment before he spoke up again. “So about last night-”

“Oh my god,” You blushed, hiding behind your hands. “I’m so sorry about that. I seriously don’t know a bigger buzzkill than my mom.”

“I was gonna call her a cock block but that works too,” He smiled before taking your wrists into his hands and lowering them before looking into your eyes. “Hey, it’s alright! Don’t be embarrassed. I get it. She came home early and found you gone so you had to leave. I’m not in any rush. We can do this on your time.”

“You mean my mom’s time?” You groaned. “At least my dad’s coming home tonight. I don’t know if I could stand another day with her crazy ass.”

“Your dad’s coming home?” He perked up. “Oh, we are so going to his apartment tonight! He’s making dinner, right?”

“Yup, some sort of pasta I think,” You laughed. “You know you’re always welcome! He’s like in love with you.”

“Are you kidding? I’m the one who’s in love with him!” He smiled, making you giggle and roll your eyes. “Seriously! He’s the coolest person I know.”

“Hey!” You protested.

“I said what I said,” He shrugged, chuckling boyishly as you pushed him away.

“Alright, Y/L/N, Erica! You’re up!” Coach called as Allison climbed down.

“Saved by the bell, asshole!” You joked before walking up to the rock climbing wall. You strapped on the safety rope and looked over to see Erica nervously fumbling with it. “Here let me help. These things are so awkward.”

“Thanks,” She smiled, facing you so you could buckle her into the strap. You nodded once before making your ascent to the top. Though it was far from effortless, it was your favorite day in gym class so you had fun climbing. You hopped down again and raised your arms with pride.

“WOO!” Stiles shouted, making those around him jump as he looked over to Greenberg. “That’s my girlfriend!”

You laughed and blushed at the scene he was making before you look over to see Erica was still gripping at the middle of the wall, clenching for dear life as she hyperventilated. Your eyes widened as everyone approached.

“Erica!” Coach called, running up next to you. “Dizzy? Is it vertigo?”

“Vertigo’s a dysfunction of the vestibular system of the inner ear,” Lydia scoffed before looking up in annoyance. “She’s just freaking out.”

“Would it kill you to be a little nicer?” You returned her tone, making her eyebrows shoot up. She opened her mouth to speak before Coach spoke up again.

“Erica!”

“I’m fine,” Her voice trembled.

“Coach, maybe it’s not safe. You know she’s epileptic,” Allison informed.

“Wh-Why doesn’t anybody tell me this stuff?!” He huffed before looking at you. “Y/L/N, climb up there and tell her to kick from the wall! Just coax her down. Kick her off if you need to!”

You nodded before making your way up again, stopping right next to her.

“Hey, hey, you’re okay,” You smiled, placing a hand on her shoulder as you leaned against the rope. “Look, this thing’s pretty safe. I’ll climb down with you. Just tell me when you’re ready.”

She nodded and hesitantly let go of the rocks, quickly gripping the rope. You smiled. “There you go. Now just hop down like this.”

Her shaky breath relaxed a bit as she watched you descend slowly, following your lead. Once she landed, Coach began to speak to her softly and tried to soothe her before the crowd of students erupted in howls of laughter. Erica looked around before walking off in shame, making your heart drop at the sight.

“Thanks, Y/N,” Coach pat your back before dismissing the class. You all rushed to the locker rooms for a quick shower. Lydia gave you the cold shoulder for your comment so you stuck with Allison, waiting in the hallway for your boyfriends.

———

“What do mean tonight’s not a good idea?!” Stiles asked as he changed into another shirt.

“I don’t know. That thing that we saw last night, Isaac missing, Allison’s grandfather- All this stuff happening with Derek just doesn’t feel right. Y/N told me she had a bad feeling about something. I mean what are the odds?” Scott responded as he closed his locker.

“No, you’re not backing out! Do you wanna know why?” Stiles stood his ground. “Because you and Allison are obviously having quite a good time together. And you know who else wants to have a good time? Stiles! Stiles wants to have a good time. And for that matter, so does his girlfriend! Many, many times. Several times in a row. In several different positions!”

“Dude! Spare me the details, that’s basically my sister you’re talking about,” Scott cringed. “Besides, I thought you were gonna have a good time last night?”

“We were! We were on the fast track to having said good time. But I only got to like second base and a half before her mom called and told her to get her ass home!” Stiles sighed before realizing Scott’s aloof face. “Are you even listening to me?! This is serious!”

“Y/N,” He muttered before looking up with panic.

“Yes. I am talking about Y/N. Who the hell else would I be talking about?!” Stiles shouted before looking at Scott’s shaking hands and sighing. “What is that?”

“I think something’s wrong,” Scott said before the two took off, running back into the gymnasium to see you trying to pull the matt out under Erica who was halfway up the rock climbing wall again. “Oh shit!”

“Don’t help me! Go stand under her in case she falls,” You breathed as you continued to pull. Stiles quickly took the place beside you and began helping. “Thanks. I got this bad feeling in my stomach that led me back in here. I saw her on the wall and I think she’s about to have a seizure.”

“Put her on her side! On her side!” Allison shouted as she approached her boyfriend. You and Stiles let go of the mat and ran up to the girl Scott placed on the ground. “How’d you know?”

“I don’t know. I felt this pull. Like I needed to check on..” He whispered before the pack’s eyes landed on you. “You.”

Your lips parted, remembering something from an article you read recently. If a Delvoux connects with a supernatural being on a spiritual level, there’s an unbreakable bond between them. A twin flame. With time and trust, your blood no longer affects them, leaving you fully vulnerable to their attacks. In times of need, they feel drawn towards you. It takes a pure bond on both ends; something you shared with Scott since birth.

“The article,” Stiles whispered, pulling you aside. “It was true.”

“I hope not,” You scrunched your face.

“Why? Isn’t it a good thing?” Stiles furrowed his brows.

“Not if I go crazy,” You hesitated. “He’ll feel every emotion. All the chaos and the destruction, he’ll feel it on a spiritual level. It won’t look pretty for either of us.”

“It’s not going to happen,” He reassured, holding your shoulders. You sighed and looked back at Scott who held Erica’s head, trying to minimize any impact from her subconscious jerking.

“I fucking hope not,” You breathed.

———

“Ew, does being your twin flame mean we’re like gonna fall in love or something?” Scott cringed.

“Okay, first of all, ouch!” You laughed, throwing a green bean at his head. He, of course, caught it with a smile. “I don’t think you could sound any more grossed out at the thought of me if you tried! And second of all, ew! No, it just means we’re like platonically bonded. Think of it as siblings but with our souls instead of our blood.”

“So you can say ew but I can’t?” He took a bite from his apple. “And you call my ego fragile.”

“I’m saying ew because of the fact that we’re basically siblings. I didn’t call you gross!” You giggled, grabbing his apple out of his hands and taking a bite.

“Hey!” He reached for it as you pulled it away again. “Eat your own apple!”

“I ate mine already!” You shrugged before Stiles walked up and slammed a keychain on the table, making you jump.

“Got ‘em!” He smiled. “I’ll pick you guys up right after work tonight and we’ll meet at the rink, cool?”

“I’m not working tonight actually. I was planning on going to Allison’s after school to get ready together,” You said, looking up to see their eyes had drifted towards the doorway. You sighed and turned only to be greeted by a pair of long, tan legs. Your jaw dropped at the sight of Erica walking in, repping a new look. “Holy shit..”

She proceeded to walk up to a boy and take a bite from his apple, seductively wiping her bottom lip afterward. She looked good. Her hair fell into loose ringlets, her walk was powered with confidence, and her smile made everyone in the cafeteria stop what they were doing. It was like everyone was entranced by her beauty.

“What the holy hell is that?” Lydia slammed her hands on your table.

“It’s Erica,” Scott responded.

“She’s hot?” You mumbled, more as a statement, before feeling two dainty fingers slip under your jaw and push it closed. You looked up at Lydia who smirked down at you. Stiles’ eyes widened at the way she touched you, pinching himself to make sure this wasn’t a dream.

“I’m still hotter,” Lydia leaned down, only inches from your face.

“I was just thinking the same,” You smiled, grabbing her face and pretending like you were gonna kiss her. You both giggled and pulled away.

“I-Is this how girls joke around?” Stiles squeaked before Scott got up and walked after Erica. “Can I come with you to Allison’s after school? And every other day for that matter?”

“Come on,” You laughed, taking his hand and running behind Scott. He followed behind you but not without a smart remark.

“Wait, I wanted to see what the two of you were going to do!” He whined as you pulled him behind you.

“Keep dreaming,” You looked back before running into Scott, bumping back into Stiles. You looked past him to see Erica getting into Derek’s black Camaro and driving off with him.

“Well that’s not good,” Stiles muttered.

———

“What about this?” You asked, twirling to show your outfit off to your friends.

“Try the red dress!” Lydia smiled. “That one looks really good on you!”

“Okay,” You giggled. “Unzip me.”

She gladly abided before pausing to look at the door. You glanced over to see Mr. Argent knocking as he entered the room. He pulled Allison away for a few moments as you continued to play dress-up with Lydia. She added a few accessories on you and worked on your makeup as Allison entered the room again.

“So you have a date?” She grinned, looking at Lydia.

“Well, I did,” She grumbled. “He just texted saying he can’t tonight. Can I just tag along with you guys?”

“Uh,” You raised your brows and looked at Allison. “I mean-“

“If you don’t mind hanging out with a group of couples, then sure!” She laughed, almost positive Lydia would back down at her comment.

“Beats being alone,” Lydia shrugged. “This is gonna be so fun!”

“Yeah,” Allison looked over at you with wide eyes. “Sofun..”

———

“Lydia,” Stiles forced a smile as she walked past him. You walked up to him and pressed a kiss on his cheek. “You invited Lydia?!”

“Lydia invited Lydia,” You corrected, watching her walk into the rink. He groaned. “Don’t worry! My full attention is yours tonight.”

“I don’t think you even believe that,” He grumbled. You smiled and gently took his cheek into your hand. “Fine. But you owe me.”

“I texted my dad and asked him to make your favorite tonight,” You tilted your head sweetly. “He can’t join us for dinner though. He‘s going out with a few college buddies tonight.”

“Damn it, I was actually looking forward to seeing him,” He sighed. “But I’ll settle for lasagna.”

“Stiles.”

“Hm?”

“He’s leaving the apartment to ourselves for a few hours.”

His eyes shot wide open with excitement.

“Okay, you’re forgiven! For everything you’ve ever done ever and everything in the future,” He spoke quickly, making you throw your head back in laughter before you waltzed into the arena. He stayed behind to watch the way your hips swayed as you walked up and got a pair of ice skates before proceeding to do the same.

“You know,” Lydia started you took the seat next to her. “I know I’ve given you a lot of shit in the past for dating Stiles. But he’s actually really cute.”

You looked up at her only to see her eyes on your boyfriend as he chose a pair of black skates. As much as you hated to admit it, you felt a spark of jealousy ignite, a feeling you hadn’t gotten in a long time. Not because of her words, but the way she said them. It was a challenge.

“Thanks,” You smiled, lacing up your skates. “I think so too.”

“Likereally cute!” She giggled.

You knew bringing her was a bad idea. She wasn’t going to let your little comment from earlier slide as easily as you thought she would. You hated her psychological warfare but had no choice but to participate.

“What’re you guys talking about?” Stiles smiled as he took the seat next to yours.

“Nothing,” You smiled.

“You, silly,” Lydia corrected. “Well, you and Y/N, that is. God, it’s so cold in here! Do you have a jacket I could borrow?”

“Uh, yeah, I think I have something in my bag,” Stiles responded, completely oblivious to her attempt at flirting. You clenched your teeth, holding back any sort of smart remark. “Here.”

“Oh, she hates orange,” You commented. “She thinks it clashes with blue. What were the words you used, Lyd? The worst color combination ever?”

“But it’s the colors of the Mets,” Stiles pouted.

“I don’t remember saying that! I love the Mets!” She smiled, taking the jacket. You rolled your eyes and looked over at your boyfriend.

“Oh, before I forget- Look at what I brought you!” He grinned, reaching in his bag to grab a Reece’s peanut butter cup.

“I love Reece’s! Thank you!” You perked up, reaching for the orange package.

“I should’ve eaten before I came,” Lydia sighed. “My stomach is growling like crazy.

You looked over in annoyance, only to receive yet another smile.

“Oh, give it to Lydia. I don’t mind,” Stiles mindlessly spoke as he laced up his skates. You pressed your tongue against the inside of your lip before holding it out to her.

“Thanks, Stiles!” She smirked, taking the package from your hands and opening it.

You looked over at your boyfriend and watched as his hands fumbled with the laces, getting an idea. You leaned over and kissed the spot behind his ear that drove him crazy, making him look up at you with an amused smile.

“What are you doing?” He whispered. You shrugged before rubbing your hand on the base of his neck, using your thumb to stroke softly as his jaw.

“Nothing,” You responded innocently. “You’re just really attractive.”

“Oh?” He smiled as you leaned in. You placed your lips on his own, almost instantly deepening the kiss. He wrapped his hand in your hair, almost forgetting where he was for a moment. You pulled away with a grin before turning to face Lydia again.

“You two are so cute,” She forced a smile.

“Aren’t we just?” You scrunched your nose and smiled back. She bitterly hummed in response before walking onto the ice.

“What was that about?” Stiles chuckled.

“I’ll tell you later,” You shook your head before standing up. “Ready to skate?”

You spent the first few minutes holding on to each other, giggling every time one of you almost fell.

“Hey, I think I’m starting to get the hang of it!” Stiles called as he let go of your hand to skate ahead a little bit. “This isn’t so- Oh my god. Oh my god! I’m falling! Y/N! I need you! HELP!”

You laughed and reached out for him as he stumbled around, trying to stabilize him through your laughs. He finally stood still before his feet went out from under him. He yelped and subconsciously grabbed your waist as he fell, taking you down with him. You both lost it, wheezing as you laid on top of him.

“Ouch,” He chuckled. “You’re so mean!”

“Me? I tried helping!” You barely could get the words out. “You’re the one who took me down with you!”

“Yeah, but like the fantastic boyfriend I am, I cushioned your fall!” He argued, smiling as he pushed a few stray hairs behind your ear.

“That was so not on purpose!”

“Uh, it so was!” He shook his head, pretending to be baffled by your comment. “But don’t thank me. Thank my tailbone. He really took most of the blunt force.”

“Aww, are you okay?” You said, getting up and holding out your hand. He gladly took it.

“Yeah, I’m good. I’d be a lot better if you kissed me though,” He grinned before puckering up and tapping his lips with his pointer finger.

“Ah, okay, well just as long as it makes you feel better,” You smiled as he pulled you towards him and placed a sweet kiss on your lips.

“Y/N! Stiles! Watch this!” Lydia called before she performed a whole ass figure skating routine. You both looked over as she twirled away on the ice. You rolled your eyes for what seemed like the millionth time. “Y/N, can you do that?”

“Y/N,” Stiles warned. “Don’t do it. It’s not worth wasting your magic on-.. and she’s gone. I’m talking to myself now. Great.”

You channeled the familiar part of your brain that you used for school, using it to guide you elegantly on the ice. You began skating and twirling and jumping around, performing a perfect routine. Lydia watched, jaw agape, with utter shock. You skated towards her with a smirk.

“Canyou do that?” You asked innocently, making her give you a look of annoyance. Stiles reached out for you as you skated by, stopping you. “Sorry. I know, I know. That was reckless.”

“I think you mean awesome!” He shouted with glee. “Oh my god! That was seriously like something out of the winter Olympics! I wonder what else you can do!”

“Thanks! But I’m not trying to find out,” You grinned. “Wanna go take some pictures in the photo booth?”

“Uh, ch’yeah!” He laughed before you both skated off. Scott and Allison crawled out of the booth and smiled at you two. “Hey! Come take pictures with us!”

“Stiles, it’s only meant for two people,” Allison giggled.

“That’s what we’re for!” Scott offered, taking a seat and patting his lap.

Allison looked up at the two of you and shrugged before happily plopping down. Stiles sat down next to them and held out his arm for you. You laughed at how ridiculously small the space was but took a seat on his lap regardless.

You all posed, smiling for the first picture and growling like a wolf for the second. The third one was a shot of the four of you laughing at the previous pose and the fourth was one of each person kissing their significant other, still evidently laughing. Two photo prints came out, one of which you took for yourself.

“Scott, your eyes!” You laughed at the way they flashed back with the flash. He looked at the one in Allison’s hands before tearing off the top half and handing her the normal side.

“Keep this one,” He smiled. “I like this half better anyway.”

The moment was suddenly interrupted by screaming. You all looked at one another and stumbled out of the photo booth to run back to Lydia. You all saw her gripping the ice and sobbing, skating up to her to calm her down. It took a few minutes to snap her out of it, but when she finally came back to reality, she spent the rest of the night looking as if she saw a ghost.

Allison drove her home shortly after. The rest of you shuffled into Stiles’ Jeep and drove back to Scott’s to drop him off before driving back to your father’s new place.

You sighed as you entered the vast and empty space that was your new home. A note was laid neatly on the counter that read: Lasagna’s in the fridge. Pop a slice or two or five in the microwave. Love you!

“Hey, so you wanna tell me what was up tonight?” Stiles spoke up from behind you. “What happened to not wanting to use your powers? I thought you needed to reserve them.”

“I do,” You sighed. “Lydia was taunting me all night because of the small remark I made about her in gym class. She knows exactly how to piss me off enough to make me want to show her she isn’t superior or better than me.”

“Damn,” He raised his brows. “What’d she do?”

“She was messing with my head,” You opened the fridge and popped a plate in the microwave before turning back to him. “Okay, I know how stupid this is going to sound. But she was flirting with you and it was driving me crazy.

He laughed. “Lydia. Flirting with me? When?!”

“All night!”

“Look, I don’t want to sound like I don’t believe what you’re saying is true but I really don’t think she was,” He smiled.

“Oh, please! Stiles, can I borrow your jacket? I’m so hungry! Y/N, your boyfriend is soooo cute! I love the Mets! She doesn’t even like baseball!” You huffed, crossing your arms. “And she took my fucking Reece’s cup!”

“Not the Reece’s cup!” He gasped before laughing. You lowered your jaw and gave him an unamused look. “Aww, don’t get mad! I’m sorry! I believe you. I guess it just went right over my head. I was so focused on you that everything she said was like background noise. All I kept thinking about was how hot you look in that dress.”

“Whatever,” You giggled.

“No, I’m serious!” He responded. “She can flirt all she wants but it won’t get her anywhere. I mean I genuinely didn’t even realize she was doing it because I am so, utterly captivated by you. It’s actually really annoying, thinking about you all the time. Yeah, it’s like a million times as bad when around you too. Hence the flirting going right over my head. She really doesn’t stand a chance.”

“You’re so cute,” You smiled, walking over to wrap your arms around his neck. “How do you know exactly what to say all the time? It actually baffles me just how perfect you are sometimes.”

His eyes danced between your eyes paired with a smile that teased the corner of his lips. He shrugged as a response.

“You’re really cute when you’re jealous,” He said softly.

“Am I?” You let out a breathy chuckle. “Well, I definitely don’t feel cute when I’m jealous.”

“Your competitiveness really comes out. God, and that kiss was so hot. Please, for my sake, be jealous more often,” He begged.

The microwave went off, but with the way he was looking at you, your mind barely registered it. His hazel eyes were focused completely on your own before they made their way down to your lips. You simply smiled and leaned in.

The kiss that started so soft and sweet slowly deepened, as if you were mutually agreeing to take it further. The second you slid your tongue on his lower lip, asking for entrance, he walked you into the wall behind you and the night began.

You felt his hands slowly trace your figure from your hips, up to your shoulders, and down to your wrists, taking a hold of them and pinning them on top of your head. He took his time kissing your neck before he let you go and entangled his hands in your hair, tugging slightly with desire.

Your now free hands mindfully and seductively traced up and down his chest before pulling him in closer by his belt loops. He groaned into the kiss, sending vibrations through your skull and a shiver down your spine.

“Let’s go to my room,” You said in between kisses.

It was your turn to grab onto his own wrist, guiding him towards the first room on the left. As soon as you closed the door behind you, his lips were on yours again.

“Are you sure?” He pulled away breathlessly, making you smile. “We don’t have to if you aren’t absolutely-”

“Stiles.”

“Yeah?”

“Take off your shirt.”

“Yes ma’am,” He grinned, abiding your word before guiding you towards the bed, laying you down gently. He raised your dress up and left wet kissing on your stomach before you reached behind you to unzip it. “Wanna step out of that dress for me?”

“Mhm,” You hummed against his lips before you flipped positions, leaving you straddling his hips as you pulled off the red dress. You were left in nothing but the lacy black panties you’d bought for tonight.

“Woah,” He muttered, taking a moment to soak in your breathtaking figure. “Just.. wow. You’re stunning.”

You felt your everlasting smile widen before leaning down to kiss him once again. The pace slowed down; you both wanted to take your time and do this right, making sure to continue with enthusiastic consent.

Right as you began rubbing your hand up and down over his pants, you heard the front door open and close. You both paused before pulling away and looking at each other with wide eyes.

“Did you hear that?” You whispered.

“No,” He said a little too quickly. “I heard absolutely nothing.”

“Y/N? Honey, are you home?” You heard your father call out, making your boyfriend groan in frustration.

“Yeah, I’m changing into my PJs. I’ll be right out!” You called before lowering your voice. “Hide in my bathroom.”

He looked around, seeing it was the only place to hide, and nodded. He quickly collected his shirt and checked to make sure his shoes were still on; a rookie mistake he made in the past. You turned on the light as he rushed to your bathroom. You reached past in your bag to grab an oversized t-shirt and a pair of shorts to throw on before quickly checking and fixing your appearance in the mirror.

“Hey, Dad!” You greeted with a smile as you walked bag into the living room. “How was your night?”

“I’m very drunk,” He slurred before giggling. “Man, oh man, those boys know how to make the best apple martinis. It tasted like juice so I downed them like water. Did you know we used to water down your apple juice when you were little so you wouldn’t get hyper?”

“You got drunk off of apple martinis?” You chuckled, taking the lasagna out of the microwave.

“Who knew they were so delicious? Here I was drinking beer, never knowing the delight that was mapple tinis,” He paused before thinking. “Mapple.. Apple martinis.. I meant apple martinis!”

“Yeah, I got that,” You smiled as he clumsily took off his shoes. “Did you have fun?”

“So much fun!” He grinned before stumbling over to the counter. “Can I have that lasagna?”

“Go for it. I’m not that hungry anyway,” You giggled, pushing the plate towards him as he took a seat at the island. “I was actually about to hit the hay.”

Boo!” He grumbled. “That’s boring!”

“It’s a school night! And from the looks of it, you should probably go to sleep too,” You reached in the fridge to grab him a bottle of water. “Drink this before bed. I don’t wanna nurse your hangover tomorrow.”

“I’ve got the liver of a 21-year-old athlete, foo,” He hiccuped before taking a bite. “Damn this is the best lasagna I’ve ever tasted in my life! Of course it is, I made it! Thanks, me.”

“Goodnight, Dad,” You laughed, walking over to kiss the top of his head.

“Goodnight, sweetheart. Sweet dreams,” He responded before drawing in a big breath. “GOODNIGHT STILES!”

You froze before hearing a small voice from your room.

“.. Goodnight, sir,” Your face fell into the palm of your hand.

“If you sleep with the door open, I won’t tell your mom that he’s over so late,” Your dad offered. “He can borrow my Star Wars PJ bottoms. They’re in the top drawer. Oh, and you can take the car to school tomorrow! I won’t need it.”

“Really?! Thank you!” You grinned.

“No problem, kiddo,” He said with a mouthful of lasagna. “I’m gonna watch movies and eat popcorn.”

“You do that!” You said as you walked into his room to grab the pajama bottoms before going back to your own bedroom and throwing them at Stiles who sat on your bed. “Rain check?”

“Raincheck,” He affirmed before shifting uncomfortably. “How does he always know I’m here?“

“Maybe it’s the Delvoux blood,” You shrugged before smirking. “Or the fact that you literally parked your car at the entrance of the building.”

“God damn it!” He huffed, recalling his obvious parking spot of choice. “The Jeep! Fuck, I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay,” You giggled, placing a sweet kiss on his lips. “Now we know what not to do next time.”

“It sucks knowing what we could’ve gotten away with tonight if we’d thought it through beforehand,” He grumbled as he made his way to your bathroom.

———

“Y/N, we think Boyd is Derek’s next victim. Wanna go with Stiles to check to see if he’s home or with me to the rink?” Scott approached quickly as you shut your locker, Stiles right on his heels.

“I think you already know my answer,” You laughed.

“No, no, I need her to go with you,” Stiles argued.

“What? Why?” You both questioned.

“She needs to stop using her powers, dude. You can protect her better than I can,” He turned to Scott. “Plus, she brought her dad’s car so she can drive you there. It’ll be quicker.”

“But-“

“He’s right. I think it’s better this way. I’m almost positive he’s at the rink anyway so Stiles should be fine,” Scott grabbed your wrist and gently pulled you behind him. “Call if you need anything!”

“Will do!” Stiles shouted before running out to his Jeep. You and Scott made a beeline to your dad’s car, hopping in and speeding off.

“I don’t have a good feeling about this,” He mumbled. “Am I getting it from you?”

“Yeah, I think so,” You nodded, gripping the wheel.

“So why can’t you use your powers?” He asked as you made a sharp turn to the left.

“I don’t know if it’s true, but there are some articles that say the more you use it, the more likely it is to like.. make you go crazy in a sense,” You spoke up, looking over at his stunned face.

“So that’s the secret you’ve been hiding from us,” He mumbled. “Have you felt any different?”

“I honestly can’t tell. I mean, normally when Lydia tries to get under my skin, I can just laugh it off. Last night though.. It’s like I had this overwhelming urge to outdo her and I kind of channeled the magic or whatever to compete with her,” You sighed. “But I’m also just competitive. So who knows?”

“Maybe it’s triggered by anger the same way it is for me,” Scott pondered for a moment before speaking up. “You might be able to ask Allison if she knows something. Her family’s gotta have some sort of book. And it’s not like she’ll tell anyone or anything.”

“You mean my worrywart of a friend? I don’t know, Scott. She’s got a lot on her plate right now, I’d hate to worsen her anxiety,” You breathed.

“She’d hate to see you not ask for help. She’d rather see you reach out than go crazy,” He shrugged. “But it’s up to you.”

“Yeah, I’ll think about it. It’s not a bad idea,” You nodded as you pulled into the rink. “Now, come on. Let’s go get Boyd.”

Scott rushed into the building before you, scanning the vast space for any presence besides for the boy who sat on top of a Zamboni.

“Boyd!” Scott called as you walked in behind him. “I just wanna talk.”

He continued to drive the ice resurfacing machine, ignoring the two of you.

“Hey, come on, Boyd. Please,” You spoke.

“Did Derek tell you everything?” Scott asked. “And I don’t just mean going out of control on the full moon, I mean everything.”

“He told me about the hunters,” The boy broke his silence, grinding the machine to a stop.

“And that’s not enough for you to say no?“ You questioned, without judgment but with genuine concern. He fell silent once again.

“Whatever you want, there’s other ways to get it.”

“I just want to not eat lunch alone every day.”

“If you’re looking for friends, you can do a lot better than Derek,” Scott shook his head.

“That really hurt, Scott,” The familiar voice boomed behind the two of you. You turned to see Derek standing with his newly formed pack behind him. “I mean if you’re going to review me, at least take a consensus. Erica, how’s life been for you since we met?”

“Hmm. In a word, transformative,” She said before showing her teeth and growling. You rolled your eyes.

“Isaac?” Well, I’m a little bummed about being a fugitive, but other than that, I’m great,” He smiled at you, looking at you up and down.

“Okay, hold on. This isn’t exactly a fair fight,” You scoffed.

“Then go home, kid,” Derek smirked.

“She meant fair for them,” Scott slammed his fist into the ice below him before growling. You took your stance, hoping your magic wouldn’t fail you now. The two betas approached, Isaac going for Scott and Erica towards you.

“Didn’t he tell you, sweetheart?” You smiled. “You can’t hurt me.”

No, I just can’t make you bleed,” She scoffed before running and throwing you back. You landed on the ice with a thud, groaning a bit as you slid before standing up again. “Doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun.”

“You shouldn’t have done that,” You chuckled before feeling the power run through your veins in a way that it never has before. It made you feel unstoppable. You could see how this could be addicting; it was euphoric.

She launched at you again but you jumped up, managing to kick her on the side of her head and knocking her down. “Woah..” You smiled.

“Youbitch!” She growled, coming at you again. You waited for her to approach before manipulating her force against her to flip her into the ground below you. “That’s it!”

She whipped out her claws and stood up.

“Make me bleed. I dare you,” You taunted. She paused, realizing who she was up against. In the moment, she let her anger take over her judgment before she continued to march towards you with her claws fully retracted.

The power in your nerves surged excitedly through you. With it, came a feeling you’d never had before; you wanted to hurt her. You wanted to show her your power and frighten her to the point of pissing herself. You didn’t care at the moment if it killed her; you wanted retaliation to the extreme.

You saw a black flame-like aura appear on your hands as she continued towards you, you held them out as the black aura grew, bursting a black flame towards her chest. It sent her flying into the Zamboni headfirst, knocking her unconscious. You turned in time to dodge Isaac as Scott launched him back next to Erica.

“Don’t you get it?!” Scott shouted. “He’s not doing this for you! He’s just adding to his own power, okay? It’s all about him. He makes you feel like he’s giving you some type of gift when all he’s done is turn you into a bunch of guard dogs!”

“It’s true. It is about power,” Derek spoke. You looked at him breathlessly as you wiped your nose. Your eyes widened at the black blood that now decorated the back of your hand. “You look tired, Y/N. Let the big boys take care of this.”

He approached Scott, eyes now glowing red as he slowly transformed into his werewolf form. You saw as Derek head-butted him before slashing his claws through his stomach.

“Scott!” You yelled, feeling something drip out of your nose.

“Stay out of this, Y/N! You’re bleeding!” He shouted before receiving more blows to his chest and jaw, returning them back to Derek and sending him stumbling backward.

You wiped at your nose and saw black blood smeared on the back of your hand. Maybe the whole black aura thing wasn’t such a good idea. You couldn’t help but wonder if your body was warning you against the type of magic you’d summoned. You’re thought were interrupted by Derek’s growl.

The alpha smiled before beating Scott senseless, sending him into the ice. He stepped up to him, pressing his heel into his throat. You looked up a Boyd, taking the keys from his hands and clenching your eyes as you sliced through the palm of your hand.

“Goddamn,” Boyd cringed as you approached Derek from behind. You grabbed his face with your bloodied hand before he turned around with shock.

“Oh shit,” You muttered before he flipped you over his shoulder, sending you flying forcefully into the ice next to Scott and knocking the breath out of you. He quickly took a small, silky fabric out from his jacket and wiped the blood off of his face, seeming to be just fine before walking back to his pack.

“Don’t,” Scott breathed as Boyd approached the two of you. “You don’t wanna be like them.”

“You’re right,” He lifted his shirt to reveal a bite, making you sigh and drop your head back in disappointment. “I wanna be like you.”

The four werewolves gathered before making their exit. Scott rolled over to look at you.

“Are you okay?” He asked, wiping the blood from under your nose and looking back at you. He took your wrist in his hand, seeing that the blood from your hand was still red. You nodded and sat up. “You have to be more careful. But I’ll admit- that last stunt you pulled? That was a killer move.”

“Literally and figuratively,” You smiled, looking down at the cut. “I wonder why it didn’t work though.”

“If you ask me, it probably has to do with that rag he wiped his face with,” Scott looked back as the door swung closed behind the last of them. “We need to find Stiles.”

“We need to take you to the clinic,” You argued, looking at the nasty bash in his stomach making him wince and hiss in pain as you lifted his shirt to take a closer look.

“It’ll heal,” He shook his head.

“Wouldn’t the healing process have started by now? He slashed it at the beginning of the fight,” You furrowed your brows, seeing it bleed a significant amount compared to his more recent wounds. You got up, helping him up before you both made your way back to the car. “Try to keep the blood off of my Dad’s seats.”

The drive to the clinic was quick but it was enough time to call Stiles to check his location. You drove with your left hand as Scott pressed your old hoodie against the wound on your right palm, keeping it from bleeding more. You swung by an alleyway and watched Stiles crawl into the backseat of the car, reeking of garbage.

Jesus. What happened to you? You smell like shit,” Scott gagged.

“Erica happened! That bitch is ruthless,” He huffed, leaning forward to see his gaping cuts. He looked over at you to see your upper lip covered in dry blood and your hand covered by a blood-soaked cloth. “Oh my god! What happened in there?! Are you okay?”

“Derek happened. He happens to also be a ruthless bitch,” You smiled before driving towards the clinic. “Look, I know I need to stop but I had no choice but to use my powers this time. It was Derek’s pack versus us.”

“It’s okay! But you just have to be careful. We don’t know how to control it yet,” Stiles reassured.

“I get what the articles mean by magic controlling my bloodline,” You breathed, remembering the feeling it gave you. “It came so naturally. And it felt like a drug. It was like utter power and euphoria pumping through my veins. I think it could be addicting. I really need to stop using it.”

“Bro, you should’ve seen her though! Her hands were like covered in this black mist, dude. She beat the living hell out of Erica,” Scott looked back smiling. “She was like a jujitsu master before her hands started smoking. Then she just knocked Erica into the ice smoothing machine and knocked her out without even touching her!”

“Damn,” Stiles’ brows raised, he was impressed. “What happened to her hand?”

“Derek knocked Scott to the ground and held him by the throat with his foot,” You began to explain before Scott chimed in with excitement.

“Y/N sliced her hand open with Boyd’s keys, dude. Then she came up behind Derek and grabbed his face, smearing her blood all over him!” He all but shouted. “It was awesome!”

“Yeah, except for the part where it didn’t phase him and he flipped me over his shoulder,” You mumbled. “My back feels like it got snapped in half now that the adrenaline is going away.”

“Wait, it didn’t phase him?!” Stiles’ jaw dropped. “How?! That shit knocked Scott on his ass with just the fumes or whatever!”

“He wiped his face with this like silk cloth. Scott thinks it has to do with that. I feel like it was because I over-exerted my powers fighting. Who knows,” You shrugged, pulling into the vet clinic’s parking lot. You all got out and proceeded to walk in. “It’s not like we can test it. Scott’s basically immune to my blood now.”

“God, why isn’t this thing healing..” Scott winced as he walked beside you.

“Because it came from an alpha. And that’s not true, Y/N,” Deaton’s voice echoed as he saw the three of you walk in. You froze, how did he know? “The blood of a Delvoux can help cure those she’s bonded with. The women in your family were well known to join werewolf packs as an alliance. They protected your ancestors and your ancestors healed them in return. All it took was love and trust. Mixing the blood of a bonded werewolf with your own can heal you too. Physically and mentally.”

“You know?” You muttered, making him smile. “How?”

“I know everything about this town,” Deaton shrugged. “We have a lot to talk about. I wanna show you something. But before I do, unwrap your hand and rub it on Scott’s wounds. I have to warn you, it’ll burn.”

You nodded, hesitantly taking the hoodie off of your hand as Scott lifted his shirt. You looked up at him as if to ask for permission; he nodded. You placed your bloody hand on the beginning of the top gash. You removed your hand across every gash, feeling a warm sensation in your hand.

“Oh, that’s not too bad!” You smiled as you pulled away.

The second your hand left his final scratch, you felt it. Both you and Scott screamed in pain, feeling as if you were being branded. You held your wrist and fell to your knees, clenching your eyes in midst of the blistering pain. And just as quick as it appeared, it went away. “Fuck, remind me never to do that again.”

“Agreed,” Scott said, trying to catch his breath.

“How do you feel?” Deaton chuckled.

“Like I just placed my hand on a stove,” You looked down at your hand. All that was left from the wound was the dried blood where the hash previously laid.

Mentally. How do you feel?”

You took a moment to realize that your head suddenly felt light. The anxiety, the anger that boiled deep within you, the darkness that loomed in your mind- it was gone. Your eyes widened at the silence in your head. You didn’t realize just how bad it had gotten until it was gone. It snuck up on you, eating at your mind silently and subtly. The gravity of the situation finally sank in; you were well on your way to insanity before that moment.

“Holy shit,” You whispered. “It’s gone.”

“Come with me,” Deaton’s tone darkened before he led you to the back room. Before you laid a corpse, slashed through like he’d been through a human cheese grinder. “I think we better have that talk now.”

So Much For “I love you”-Part One

Summary: (Y/N) (Y/L/N) a girl that soon realized her world was about to come crashing down all because of a blue-eyed wolf…

(Y/N)= Your Name
(Y/L/N)= Your Last Name

Isaac Lahey x Reader

Requested: Yes (A long time ago, I might add)

——————————————————————————————————————————-

(Y/N) POV:

*Then*

“Isaac I can’t just leave. What about the pack, what about my family” I exclaim. He walks towards me a soft look evident on his face, he takes a hold of my hand and interlocks them together. I sigh and move away from leaving him confused.

“I know this is a lot to handle, Isaac. We’re all still hurting but you can’t expect me to up and go. I love you, Isaac, I do. But I can’t leave not now not ever” I explain.

“ (Y/N) I know you don’t wanna leave Scott, the pack, and your family. But you, Scott…Derek you three are the only family that I have left and I can’t watch you die in my arms, (Y/N). So please” Isaac pleads.

“Isaac…"I whisper. I take his hand and place it on my cheek comforting the distressed wolf.

“I’m not Allison… I miss her so much, she was always there for me whenever I needed her… I miss her, Isaac just as much as you do but I’m not her. I’m me…(Y/N) (Y/L/N), your girlfriend. She’s a human girl with a human family. That gets average grades and is hopelessly in love with a guy named Isaac freaking Lahey” I begin to say ever so softly. A tear escapes slowly streaming down my face.

“And if he loves me as much as I love him… He won’t leave me here alone, he won’t make me go somewhere I don’t want to go because if he truly loves me he’ll stay and fight beside me till we fall to the ground cause we were protecting someone that mattered” I continue to say.

“I can’t leave them here, my family is human, Isaac. They can’t fight like me, they can’t heal like you or Scott. So they need me to protect from whatever danger is coming their way because they matter to me” I finished. Tears were uncontrollably streaming down my face.

“And you matter to me… (Y/N) please don’t make me go without you” Isaac cries.

“Then don’t go” I respond.

“It’s not that simple (Y/N)” Isaac says.

“But me leaving my family is. What made you think that I was just going to leave my family, my friends, my hometown…I can’t, I don’t think I have the strength to leave” I reply. He looks at me in defeat, the look of desperation washes over his facial features.

“You mean everything to me, Isaac. And I love you to the moon and back but all of this is too much to ask an emotionally wrecked girl. I lost my best friend, I almost lost Stiles tonight I don’t wanna lose him again, he’s like a brother to me Isaac” I cry. I cup his face, everything slowly becomes drawn out as I look into the icy blue eyes.

“I’m sorry (Y/N) but I’m not going to stay here and watch you die” Isaac says. My heart breaks in two, I step away and turn around not wanting to see him.

I hear him pick his bag up off the ground. I try to block it out every little sound that he made. Everything was becoming too unbearable for my heart to handle.

“I guess this is goodbye” He says. I take a deep breath and wipe away the tears. I turn to face the boy I love, my arms folded loosely across my chest.

“I guess so” I say bluntly. He drops his bag and runs towards me, his hands on my hips and our lips connected as he kissed me goodbye. I push back and fold my arms once again looking at the floor.

“Please come with me” Isaac pleads once again.

“You know I can’t do that, Isaac. Scott, my parents, Lydia…. I can’t leave, Isaac. They mean too much to me” I reply.

“(Y/N)…” Isaac says. I turn away not wanting him to see me cry.

“Please, Isaac just go, your leaving me whether I come or not. So please make this easier for my heart and leave” I yell.

“But (Y/N)…” He says. I turn around once again to face him, my emotions suddenly all over the place.

“Isaac… go” I plead. He walks towards his bag and picks it up once again. He slowly closes the door behind his eyes never leaving mine. He abruptly stops and says one more thing.

“I love you” He says and shuts the door. I collapse onto the floor in tears, my body slowly starts to become weak as I continue to repeat the love of my life leaving me. I look up at the door and replay those three words in my mind.

“I love you too” I say….

*Now*

“Hey (Y/N)”

“Hello…”

I shake my head as the sound of a very familiar voice wakes me up. I turn to look at Scott and Stiles, one gives me a concerned look and the other one looks at me annoyed.

“What?”

“The plan remember” Stiles says. I roll my eyes and lay back onto the jeep.

“Look I’m glad I’m a part of your plan, Stiles. But I’m not even sure if I wanna go to college yet” I say. He gasps at my response cause both me and Scott to laugh. I sit upright and look at the boy beside me.

“Something is seriously wrong with her. Scott what does she smell like” Stiles says. I glare at him and stick my tongue out.

“She smells…-” Scott begins to say. He looks up at the sky thinking.

“Sad, Scott I’m sad. Thought you’d be used to it by now. It’s basically a common state for me” I answer.

“Whats wrong?” Scott’s ask concerned. I sigh and face the alpha next to me.

“I was thinking about the night Isaac left” I begin to say. Stiles looks at Scott with this I told you so look on his face causing me to glare at him.

“I keep asking myself what if, you know” I finish.

“Hey, you’ll be okay. My mum said to this to me when me and Allison broke up "They’re you’re first love everything will be amazing and exciting-” Scott begins to say but I cut him off.

“But you’ll end up finding someone else that’ll end up being just as amazing as the first” I finish.

“See you’re getting it” Scott says nudging me in the process. Stiles waves his arms in frustration causing both me and Scott to look at him.

“Dude the plan” Stiles says.

“Don’t worry Stiles you can have him back I’m gonna talk to little wolf anyway” I say. I jump off the jeep and walk towards a chained up Liam.

“(Y/N) you’re a part of the plan as well” Stiles yells behind me.

“Love you” I yell back casually . I stand beside Liam and look up at the sky.

“How you feeling?” I ask.

“I feel great by the way” Liam yells.

“He’s busy at the moment little wolf, Stiles is currently discussing the ‘plan’ aswe speak” I mock. Liam groans in annoyance and rests his head on the tree stump.

“Ughhhh it was only one time I seriously don’t know why I’m even here” he exclaims annoyed. I roll my eyes thinking about all the other times he’s done something stupid during the full moon.

“You sure about that” I reply with giggling. His face turns red in embarrassment as he start looking up at the the stars. I join him in this little activity thinking about the times where me and Isaac would do the same.

“The stars are quiet beautiful tonight, they just sit up there slowly burning throughout the night peacefully and without a care in the world. You know Me and Isaac use to do this all the time it was my favou-” I start to say without thinking. My eyes go wide as I fully process what I just said.

“Isaac?” Liam says while looking at me intrigued.

“Ahhhhh it’s nothing don’t worry about it little wolf, You know what I’ll meet you in the jeep” I say. I quickly walk towards the jeep and get inside. I lean back against the chair slowly sliding down my mind is filled with thoughts.

“What did he do?” Stiles asks as he walks up to the door.

“Nothing, Stiles. He done nothing” I reply.

“Then why do you look like you’re about to cry” he says.

“Seriously stiles don’t worry about it okay I’ll be fine” I say.

“Pfffft a nd I have a six pack with biceps the size of your head. Now come on, whats wrongs” Stiles says. I laugh at his reply and sit up in my chair.

“If you really wanna know I started thinking about my time with Isaac okay and how we’d use to look at the stars, see I told you it was nothing okay” I reply.

“Look you need to talk about him whether it’d be with me, Scott or Lydia but you need to talk about him (Y/N)” he says. I nod my head and usher him out the jeep. I lean back into the seat and close my eyes thinking about what Stiles had just said.

After a while, I get out of the jeep and sit next to Scott. They both look at me concerned looks plastered onto their face.

“I thought about what you said and you’re right. I need to talk about him so why not do it now” I say. They both send me small smiles.

“Where do I begin. Isaac was my first everything, my first love, my first kiss etcetera, etcetera. And I loved him so much… He was there for me when you were the nogitsune, Stiles” I begin to say. Scott puts his arm around my shoulders in order to comfort me.

“Things were great you know. I even saw a future with him, then everything turned sour when Ali died. She was the glue that held everything together. I didn’t know what to do after that and neither did Isaac or that’s what I thought. When he asked me to go with him I was surprised. Deep down I wanted to jump into his arms and scream yes at the top of my lungs but then I thought about you two, my family, Lydia… the pack. I begged him to stay, I begged and I begged but just like that he was gone and I was standing there cold and alone. I tried so hard to forget about him but all I do is end up missing him even more it’s like I’m going crazy and I haven’t figured out how to get over it” I finish. By this point, I was balling my eyes out. Scott was hugging me, rocking side to side as the night continues to tick away

“No matter what (Y/N) you’ve always got us okay” Scott says with a stupid grin on his face. I laugh lightly and hug them both.

“I don’t know what I’d do without you two, seriously” I say. I let go of the hug and chat to them for a little while as some time passes stiles begins to say something.

“Hey you think it’s been long enough” Stiles says referring to the chained up wolf.

“Yes” Liam yells. We all walk towards the little wolf, Scott puts his hand into his pocket and begins to take the keys out.

“Are you sure you’re okay” Scott asks.

“Yes, I’m fine” Liam replies.

“Well if we see your naked butt running around town again I’ll be dragging you here myself little wolf” I say with my brows raised slightly.

“I said I was hot” Liam replies.

“Yes well my grandparent didn’t appreciate seeing a particularly naked young boy running outside my house at two in the morning. Now let’s get going we got things to do”

*skip rest of car ride*

Me, Scott, Malia and Stiles finally make it to the school. We wait for Kira as she was the only one that wasn’t here.

“I’m going to get her” Scott says.

“How are you going to go through all the traffic” Stiles asks.

“I have a way. You guys go to the library, I’ll go back home and get my bike” Scott’s says. We nod our head and wave bye to Scott.

“You guys go ahead I need to do something that I haven’t been able to do in a long time” I say. I play with the necklace Isaac gave me for our anniversary.

“Oh hell no. Do you really think I’m gonna-” Stiles begins to say but Malia cuts him off.

“We’ll meet you at the front of the school” Malia says. Stiles begins to protest but Malia motions her hands to the necklace. Stiles looks at it and then finally understands what I meant. They both walk away, I smile a little as they both remind me of the relationship I had with Isaac.

I walk towards the lacrosse field, my hair and clothes drenched in water. I stand there, the necklace firmly in my hand as I begin to think about the memories we made together. After a while, I look at the necklace a tear slides down my face.

“I love you and I let you go, Isaac Lahey”I throw the necklace far away. My heart finally feeling at peace. I turn around and come face to face with a man.

“You look a lot like the girl in the photo” he says. I move away from him my heart racing. I look at his hands and see long claw protruding from his fingers.

“What are you?” I ask.

“Someone wanting to know where Scott McCall is” he says. I try to run past him but he grabs my arm and pulls me towards him, he then puts his claws up to my throat.

“Look I don’t know where he is okay” I say.

“Now that’s a lie isn’t it” He says. He digs his claws into my throat causing me to flinch.

“You won’t find him and even if you do you won’t even know what hit you” I say threatening. He chuckles and leans into my neck.

“Oh, naive little girl… just you wait and see” He whispers into my ear. We walk to the tunnel that we were under before Scott went to pick Kira up. Coincidentally both Scott and Kira were there. He growls causing the both of them to look in our direction. He pushes me out of the rain, his claws digging into my lower back.

“Hey, Kira. How was the trip?” I say trying to lighten the mood. The strange man pushes me to the side and runs at Scott and Kira. Everyone begins fighting, Kira takes out her sword while Scott takes out his claws. I crack the bone in my neck and get ready to fight.

“How cute. You all think you can actually beat me” He says. I raise my brow and pull my knives out.

“Of course we can. Afterall your just another one of our useless obstacles” I say.

I run up and attack, he dodges some of my advance causing me to attack him even more. He grabs my arms and kicks me in the stomach making me fall to the ground in pain. Scott and Kira then proceed to fight him, he pushes Scott to the side leaving Kira. She takes her sword out and slashes the air and then proceeds to attack, he easily blocks her moves and hit her back causing her to fall.

“A true alpha. Where’s your power, Scott” He says.

“Who are you?” Scott asks.

“A devoted fan. Show me the man that took down Deucalion, the man who broke the Argents. I came for that alpha, COME ON” He replies. Scott roars and then attacks him. Kira gets up and then attacks him once again but he blocks every move.

“I didn’t come just to claim your status” He starts to say.

I stand up and ready my knives once again but I was pulled back by some guy. He attacks him landing a few blows here and there but not enough to take him down. Scott stands up and dodges every throw taken towards him but that guys grabs him by the throat and lifts him into the air. Then he impales Scott with his claws, Scott slowly kneels onto the ground his eyes flashing back to his normal eyes.

I push past Kira taking her sword and run towards Scott getting ready to attack once again. Scott then grabs him and stands up his eyes back to his alpha ones. I smirk to myself and aim her sword at him while he lays on the ground.

“I don’t know who you are or what you thought you were gonna do but I’ll give you a choice. You can stay and I’ll break something else or you can run” Scott threatens. He looks at us and then turns his to face Stiles. I kick his leg getting his attention, I then lean crouch down in front of him the sword now on the ground.

“I’d run” I whisper. He stands up, holding his broken arms and runs. I stand up picking up the sword and throw it back to Kira. We all walk towards each other, I turn around to face the guy behind us curious as to who he is.

“You don’t remember me do you” he says. We all stand there silent, I fold my arms across my chest.

“Nope not one bit” I say. He chuckles and starts walking towards us.

“I always liked that about you, (Y/N)” He replies. I take my knives out and aim them at him.

“How do you know my name” I threaten.

“I guess I look a little different since the fourth grade” He says.

“…Theo” Scott says. He nods his head a smile slowly emerges onto his face. I put my knives down and place them back into my boots.

“You know him” Malia says. I smile to myself as the memories of us begin to flash through my mind.

“Yeah, we use to know him. We were best friends for three years” I reply. I look around the group of people everyone reactions seem so different.

“Trust me I thought I’d never get to see you guys again. A couple months ago I heard of an alpha in Beacon Hills… When I found out his name was Scott McCall… I just couldn’t believe it. Not just an alpha but a true alpha” He says.

“What do you want?” Scott asks.

“I moved back to Beacon Hills…back home with my family. Cause I want to be a part of your pack” He answers.

“That was a really nice speech, Raeken. But all I wanna do and I’m pretty sure most of you agree is to sign our stupid initials onto a library shelf in the school, okay. Now if you don’t mind we’ll be going” I say before anyone could say anything I left and started walking towards the library. We all walk to the library in complete silence, all that could be heard was the sound of rain hitting against the ground.

“That was interesting” Malia says breakining the silence.

“Yeah” I reply.

“What were you doing anyway (Y/N)”Scott asks.

“I was letting someone go” I reply. He looks at me confused, i just pat his shoulder and continue walking ahead. We make it inside the school all of us sigh in relief.

“I’ll be back. I have to go to my locker” I say. They nod their heads and stand there talking.

I jog towards my locker and grab whatever I needed and began jogging my way back to the group of teens. I frown as I approach them as they all sounded like they were arguing with someone.

“Hey what the hell is going on” I yell. Everyone turns around and looks at me with a sad expression. I look at them weirdly, not sure whats going on.

“Hey, (Y/N). What the hell happened to you” I hear a very familiar voice say. He booked to walk towards me cupping my face as he examines my injuries from the fight. I push him away my emotions suddenly all over the place as the love of my life stands in front of me after all these years.

“Don’t start caring now Isaac it’s too late for that” I reply coldly. My hearts racing over a thousand miles per hour while my mind is all over the place, Why now, why here, why me…

“I don’t know why you’re here or why you’re back Isaac but I’ve had a bad night so if you’d like you can go back to France and never return. Oh yeah and this is for leaving” I say, I punch him in the face as the sudden urge of anger starts to raise inside me. He stumbles back a shocked look plastered on his face, he wipes the blood of his nose and fixes his composure, He looks at me with his beautiful blue eyes still full of love and it made me even more angrier.

“I’m here because of you” He says. I roll my eyes and scoff as I continue to glare at the boy in front of me.

“Don’t give me that bullshit, Isaac. It’s been years since you up and left me, I needed you, I relied on you Isaac… so what makes you think that you could come back and think that everything would be okay. I’m still healing mentally and emotionally so I really don’t need this at the moment Isaac so leave… its what you’re good at” I yell tears streaming down my face with every word.

“(Y/N) please listen to me” he begins to plead with me. I scoff and roll my eyes once again, no matter how much I’ve yearned for him touch or to see him once again I’m not going to fall for his lies anymore, I’ve let him go so I need to stick by it.

“Isaac stop I’m done with this conversation and I’m done with you. Let’s go guys Lydias probably waiting for us” I say, I walk away the pack following behind as we make our way towards Lydia.

“Sooooo that was interesting” Stiles says while he catches up to me.

“Ugghhhh don’t even get me started, seriously this night couldn’t t have been any worse. I just wanna write my initial on that stupid library shelf and go home, my grandparents are probably worried” I reply annoyed. He laughs and puts his arm around my shoulder.

“Well it seems like your wish just came true cause I spot Lydia right now actually so library here we come” he says. I smile and hug him once more before letting to go met up with Lydia a bit quicker than the others. I give her a big hug and she hugs me back surprised.

“Took you guys long enough and what was that for even though I’m not complaining” she says with a confused yet concerned look on her face.

“I’ll catch you up tonight, sleepover?” I reply.

“Uhhhhh of course” she replied, I laugh at her response and hug her once more while we wait for the others to catch up.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Isaac Lahey was my first everything, he was my first my love and also my first heartbreak. I had given that boy everything I could and yet that still just wasn’t enough my heart wasn’t enough because when I needed him the most he left…

I hate him so fucking much, that it hurts to still be in love with him. He left me, abandoned me, threw me away like I was simply nothing but trash to him, so how dare I still love him… how dare he still be on my mind after all he’s done to me, how dare he not be hurting still after all these years apart, how dare he make me feel the way that I do, how dare he expect to me to fall into his arms like he never left or none of it never happened…

I hate him so much that my heart can’t seem to stop being in love with him and it hurts, it hurts so much and I’m not sure if I fully let him go…“I love you”… yeah so much for that.
