The drama was so frustrating and the main pair so boring! I only kept on for KuanKuan, hanging onto the hope to see something happening between these two!! So much potential wasted!
Random HCs for this AU: JYL and NMJ knew (of) each other since childhood (with LXC) but only got close during the Sunshot Campaign. / JC and WWX kinda hero-worship NMJ and despise JZX, they would support this budding relationship. / Having JC as baby brother, JYL see easily past NMJ’s gruff exterior and is touched by the way he treated his people and the war refugees, as well as how much he loves his little brother. / NMJ sees how caring and dedicated JYL is to the war effort, how she loves her brothers and how his own little brother adores her. /She’s just amazing okay?/ JYL’s soup is really good, it’s JZX’s loss, snobby peacock! Not even MiânMian can save that one!
Wen Qíng was kept alive as leverage on Wen Níng then forgotten in a dungeon. She somehow escaped (perhaps freed by Mò XuánYû before he was kicked out of Lánlíng?) and bumped into MiâMian out on a nighthunt. They live together ever since.
(Cue the fandom joke that MiânMian’s “ordinary” husband is in fact Wen Qíng with a moustache that WWX failed to recognise and LWJ just didn’t care enough to expose)
MiânMian made a baby on her own, I don’t care it was really not an acceptable thing at the time. She helps a lot of people in her area so gossips are not to be spread, otherwise all the mamas and aunties in her neighbourhood will come after you!
AU where Qín Sù and Lán Xichén find comfort and companionship with each other a few years after Jin Guangyáo’s downfall, brought together because they loved the same man and had to keep everything buried inside their hearts for too long.
(And perhaps Jin Rúsong actually survived and was entrusted to LXC by Yáo years earlier, hidden away under a new name… Lán Jîngyí.)
Magnolia are called “jade orchid” (玉蘭), perfect for the First Jade and cherry blossoms for QS because of the soft pink she favours.
I was annoyed that Madam Jin doesn’t even have a first name so I chose one for her.
I wanted Jiang YànLí’s name to be a nod to Madam Jin’s, even if it’s only the sound and not the meaning.
And since the few older generation ladies we know the names of are flying/bird related (Lán Yì - wings, Yú ZîYuan - violet kite hawk), my options were either “wild goose” 雁 or “swallow” 燕.
Her maiden name would be Mù 慕, from my MDZS OC’s clan, attached to Méishan Yú.
