latest in the series of Great Fic Ideas I Definitely Won’t Write, inspired by that one post about Different ways Wei Wuxian could have been summoned back, pondered over by me and @cerusee :

@mikkeneko wrote: ooh somebody proposed that JGY might have summoned wwx to kill his dad
@mikkeneko wrote: I can sort of see that

@cerusee wrote: JGY summoning WWX at the cost of his own life would be uh
Potentially one of the few instances where I would really feel bad for him
@cerusee wrote: There’s just the inherent despair in that summoning ritual
@cerusee wrote: You only do it if you feel like you have no other options and you want this so very badly
@cerusee wrote: Anyway JGY soul-sacrificing himself to get WWX to come murder his dad would just be a pretty big shift in JGY
JGY just got there first I am absolutely not dismissing this, just pondering it

@mikkeneko wrote: I think … It could happen if Jin Guangshan had turned on Jin Guangyao first
@mikkeneko wrote: I deffo get the impression that JGS was always keeping the option open to dump blame on JGY and kick him to the curb, if any news of his nasty activities had gotten out.  JGY just got there first
@mikkeneko wrote:  If he hadn’t, if JGY had been thrown down the stairs of Koi Tower a second time, lost all his money and authority and goon squads and credibility…
@mikkeneko wrote: Then, yeah, I can see it

@cerusee wrote: …yeah. He was SO successful, for such a long time, in canon, that it’s easy to read JGY as the guy who always came out on top
@cerusee wrote: But there were a lot of potential points of failure on his journey to Jin Sect Leader
@cerusee wrote: And lord knows he was full of that much anger
@cerusee wrote: I vote JGY as Second Most Likely To Soul-Sacrifice Himself To Bring Back The Yiling Patriarch (But With Different Goals)

@mikkeneko wrote: then wwx would be starting out his second life as the disgraced, exiled, and possibly on-the-lam bastard son of JGS
@mikkeneko wrote: that’d be fun for him!

@cerusee wrote: And for us!

bonus:

We have pondered this story idea further and damn, I almost really want to write this.

So here’s what happened in this alternate series of events:

-For JGY to be discredited/exiled/disgraced but not  killed outright, we would have to calibrate the thing he got called out on very precisely: since without the protection of the Jin and his dad’s patronage, it would be hard to see why he’d be exiled but not executed for the crime of, say, murder or attempted murder of a sitting Sect Leader. (For that reason, NMJ is probably still alive in this timeline.)

-So we decided that the thing that led to JGY’s downfall was probably: the truth of Qin Su’s parentage came out.

-Possibly, after Madame Qin’s death, Bicao decided to tell Qin Su the truth without needing to be bribed/prodded by NHS. Qin Su was either not willing or not able to keep the secret.

-This looks bad for everyone  in the Jin family, but Jin Guangyao gets it the worst, because he knew (we are assuming CQL verse) but married her anyway. Since Madame Qin is dead and not able to tell her side of the story, Jin Guangshan can claim that the affair was consensual, so he gets off with only minor damage.

-Despite her (understandable) upset, Qin Su pleads for Jin Guangyao’s life to be spared, since she did truly love him. Lan Xichen also pleads for Jin Guangyao’s life, I think, because a) that’s the sort of person he is and b) they probably wouldn’t be willing to listen to Qin Su alone.

-So, Jin Guangyao gets exiled, disgraced, widely known as a criminal and committer of incest. He flees Lanling and ends up going to ground in Yi City with his ex-coworker, Xue Yang.

-Qin Su’s marriage is formally annulled, but she’s still not in a great place, socially (or mentally.) Jiang Cheng steps up and marries her, because he feels bad for her, and also because this is going to make family dinners super duper awkward  after WWX’s resurrection and I think that would be very funny.

-WWX wakes up in an array in Yi City with blood everywhere and Xue Yang in the background doing some cheerful dismemberment of corpses, as he does. Xue Yang will be happy to tell WWX that the entire cultivation world  combined to condemn Jin Guangyao – not exactly lying, but not really bothering to distinguish the exceptions, because they don’t matter to him. Wei Wuxian, who also got the experience of the Entire Cultivation World combining to condemn him, will have no reason not to believe it.

-Wei Wuxian, in the body of a universally scorned (possibly marked with some kind of brand?) and nearly powerless criminal, now faces the task of assassinating the Chief Cultivator, Jin Guangshan. His sister and adopted family are all dead, his old friends all hate him, his brother has married this body’s half sister slash ex-wife, and his only ally is an overly solicitous mass murderer who would really, really like for Wei Wuxian to take a look at his spirit trapping pouch! Or else.

-Wei Wuxian really needs a goddamn drink.

I wanted to draw something cute and colourful and fun, so here’s some of the untamed ladies + summer fashion!

in case it’s not clear, L2R we have Wen Qing, Jiang Yanli, Qin Su, and Mianmian :)

Came across the template and couldn’t resist The Urge on this nice Saturday. It’s whoever-sees-it’s turn to sort LSZ, LZY into the lines.

We would say… Wen Chao and Wang LingJiao*

*if they weren’t pseudo-ancient-Chinese, hence WLJ could better solidify her position at WC’s side by bearing him a son. Actually curious how in a half year they had together she didn’t end up knocked up. …And what had happened to WC’s official wife during Sunshot Campaign

„I remember him as…sunny,” Sizhui tells her. “His whole personality radiated sunshine and warmth. He was always smiling, always cracking a joke. He loved playing and rough-housing with us kids, but he could also be very gentle if he wanted to. Looking back, he couldn’t have been older than twenty-five; he was probably even younger than that, now that I think about it. But despite the short time we’ve spent together while he was looking after the kids at the orphanage, he always felt like a father to me.”

In which Lan Sizhui goes on a TV show, to find the man he saw as a father figure while he was in the orphanage, and who disappeared one day.

…and who just so happens to be his adoptive father’s long-lost love.

“As you can imagine, it’s not exactly easy to make a whole family disappear. The Wens needed help with getting out of here as quickly as possible, leaving no trace behind. The Wen siblings had met someone during their studies who had sensed the danger the family was in, and in an attempt to help them, had become a target too. So, he took it upon himself to leave his old life behind in order to help the Wens disappear, but also to protect those who were close to him back then. You know this man as…Xian-gege.”

Sizhui drops the two photographs he was still holding. “You are joking,” he says, incredulous.

In which the first steps to a reunion are being taken.

Chapter 5 is out now! Total chapter count has been updated to seven. ♥

I can still hear you laugh in my mind. I still remember how you told me that you’d plant me in the orphanage’s sandbox like a radish so that I could sprout siblings. I remember how you told me stories about your brother and your sister and how you snuck out at night to steal lotus seeds from the neighbouring lake together. You always wanted to take me there when I’m older.”

In which someone realises just how much he’s being missed.

MDZS Rarepair Week 2022

Day 3, filled prompts: Lan/forgiveness/strings

@holy-rarepairs-batman

AU where Qín Sù and Lán Xichén find comfort and companionship with each other a few years after Jin Guangyáo’s downfall, brought together because they loved the same man and had to keep everything buried inside their hearts for too long.

(And perhaps Jin Rúsong actually survived and was entrusted to LXC by Yáo years earlier, hidden away under a new name… Lán Jîngyí.)

Magnolia are called “jade orchid” (玉蘭), perfect for the First Jade and cherry blossoms for QS because of the soft pink she favours.

The broken gûqín refers to this post of mine.

What if Qín Sù was saved by Jiang Chéng instead of Mèng Yáo?

gotta love duolingo’s random ass sentences

[what kind of clothes girls from mdzs/cql would wear if they have lived in xxi century?]

a-qing;

- rather casual style of clothing, maybe a little grunge???

- i think that for the most of the time, she would be wearing oversize and baggy clothes not only because she likes them, but also because she wanted to piss off all these people who were telling her, how shoud she look like. “you’re a girl, why can’t you for once wear something normal, like dresses or skirts, not these beggar’s clothes!" or "you’re so skinny, you should wear things that would reveal your figure more, you would be so popular with boys!”. everytime a-qing would hear this kind of things she would continue to wear even bigger and sloppy clothes with a giant grin, knowing perfectly how much it would irritate other people.

- i doubt she would really care that much about fashion or her appearance (especially that she’s still quite young, so appearance isn’t her priority), but if she would sense that she could gain a profit from looking pretty, she would be the prettiest girl in the streets. but overall, usually even when she wears something more tight-fitting or revealing, she would always try to “cover” her outfit with an oversized jacket/hoodie/anything. not that she’s ashamed of her body, she just feels more comfortable that way.

qin su;

- classy & elegant

- i think that she would be lowkey into clothing from 50s; pencil/circle skirts, swing coats, pearls, maybe some slik gloves. this woman is the definition of a word ‘class’, seriously; her outfits are always on point and give this elegant vibe, even when she’s at home. it’s like the ability of looking good regardless of circumstances runs in her blood. you’ll never catch her looking bad. never. most people look at her with adoration and even a little jealousy (but it’s not a unhealthy kind of jealousy; it’s a mere wishing to be like her, because she seems like she has no flaws at all, and like she lives a perfect life. she’s just goals).

- people rarely believe her when she says she’s in her 30s, because of how young she looks like and oh, it can be a real pain in the ass when you forget to bring your id sometimes, because everyone doubts that you’re an adult even though you’re married and have a kid. wearing some heavier make up helps her looking a little bit closer her real age, but qin su doesn’t really feel good with it, so she wears a lighter version.

luo qingyang

- chic & mature

- she would have similiar mindset like a-qing; even though she likes looking feminine, she rarely wears heels, because they are body-harmful and overall, they aren’t as comfortable as normal shoes. so when she would show up at work, wearing flats and someone would try to say anything about not following the “dress code”, oh my, she would throw a fist. do you remember how kristen stweart ditched her high heels on the red carpet, right before movie premiere and then she went barefoot, saying that “if you’re not asking guys to wear high heels, you cannot ask me either?”. mianmian would definitely be this type of person. like sure, looking pretty and socially acceptable is nice, but feeling comfortable with your entire outfit is even nicer.

- she’s quite of a beauty, so she already attracts some attention within her exceptional figure, but i think that the way she carries herself would be something that makes people look at her the most. there’s something nonchalant about her, the fact that she always goes with her head high and that she seems not to care at all about her surroundings, only focused on what is before her, but at the same time, she doesn’t seem arrogant or anything. just a pure confidence is something that make people *gasp* at her.

The CQL version of Qin Su :D

Every version of her is so pretty <3

I really like to start the year with sketches! So it happened with the children of the Jin family. I like to add details to donghua’s images, and since A-Yu wasn’t shown to us in the clan, I have freedom in depicting him.

Jiang Cheng: I never know what to say to people at funerals.

Nie Huaisang: Oh, just say “I’m sorry for your loss” then move on.

Jiang Cheng: *sighs and approaches Qin Su*

Jiang Cheng: I’m sorry for your loss.

Qin Su: (tearfully) Thank you.

Jiang Cheng: Move on.

Qin Su:

Jiang Cheng: *walks away*
