As someone who’s about to embark on an 11-hour solo drive east on I-90 tomorrow: it’s still preferable to flying out of O'Hare.
And really, the only reason why I stopped taking Amtrak to visit my family for the holidays is because it’s an overnight route and I am now too old and sciatica-plagued to sleep in a standard seat (and even a “roomette” with a bed costs almost as much for a round trip as my half of the rent on my apartment), but early-20s Cat was very into it.
