Our 13-year-old dog just had a mass removed from her mouth (probably not cancerous, but we’ll see when the results come back) and an abscess in her foot treated. She is in exceptional health otherwise, though her age is definitely starting to show these days. Pretty sure she’s losing her hearing. Anyway, the kids mostly leave her alone because she doesn’t really play, and after all the crying when they were babies she wasn’t that interested in them either. But she’s been needy lately, and my daughter has been wanting to take care of her. When the dog came home groggy from the vet yesterday, she tried to get her to rest on her bed, but the dog wanted to be right in the center of the kitchen where everyone who walked through would have to step over her (and maybe pet her). For about 15 minutes, my daughter lay there trying to coax her into the bed and eventually just telling her she loved her and hoped she felt better soon.

My poor baby girl life seems to be out to get us at the moment
A deep puncture wound means antibiotics, pain killers and bed rest for N Dog. My heart is breaking watching her in pain and not being able to take it away.
Fingers crossed for quick healing and god help us all when I break the news she’s can’t come running with me for the next while….

In my absence from the blog these past couple of years, i got back in the sweet pupper game with a handsome boy named Burt. If you follow me on instagram (or him for that matter) you’ve surely noticed the little dude. If not, I figured why not share his awesomeness here in lieu of another music post this evening. I’ll get back into that tomorrow. In the meantime, meet Burt Macklin, boston terrier. If you see him on the streets of Portland, he will probably have already kissed you.

The pugloaves rose nicely for thanksgiving dinner, even though they were pretty sleepy all day. (Gimli’s up top, little Sunny is on the bottom.)
