Diamoric

[,daɪə'mɔɹɪk] (dye-uh-MOR-ick): From the Greek prefix “dia-”, meaning “passing through”, “going apart”, and “thoroughly/completely” and the Latin “amor” for love.

Diamoric is an intentionally flexible, loose term that describes a personal identity or a relationship (sexual, romantic, platonic etc.) that is neither “straight” nor “gay” due to the presence of one or more non-binary people.

An Identity:

A diamoric person is a person who prioritizes NB people and NB partnerships in their life. Note: Only a non-binary person can claim diamoric as an identity.

A Descriptor:

A diamoric relationship or attraction is one that involves at least one non-binary person. Note: Any relationship that includes a non-binary person is diamoric - even if one of the partners is binary.

A more detailed explanation can be found [Here].

Sapphic: Referring to women or woman-aligned NB people who are sexually and/or romantically attracted to other women(-aligned) people. Applies to lesbian, pansexual, bisexual, and other women(-aligned) who are sexually/romantically attracted to women(-aligned).

Originates from the Greek poet Sappho, a bisexual woman from the Isle of Lesbos, from which we get the term lesbian.

Achillean:A term to describe men, partial men, or male-aligned people who are attracted to other men, partial men, or male-aligned people. It is not necessarily synonymous with gay because people who are bi, pan, ace, etc can also use it as long as they fit the above statement.
In ancient Rome, as in 19th-century England, green indicated gay affiliations. Victorian men would often pin a green carnation on their lapel as popularized by author Oscar Wilde, who often wore one on his lapel.

“Companionate love” is mainly intended for people on the ace spectrum who have very deep platonic relationships, considering them on par with serious romantic relationships. It is intended as an alternative for queerplatonic, for aces who may feel uncomfortable with that term due to the use of “queer” (which many people have an issue with). So an ace person who is looking for companionate love or has a companionate relationship with someone would call themselves a “compantionate ace”, similar to how aces with non-aromatic orientations are called “romantic aces”.

Term coined by: thethinkingasexual.wordpress.com

[Image: Flag with 5 stripes: Pastel yellow, white, black, white, pastel pink].

Designed by: Anonymous and Mod Hermy

Color meanings: Pink and yellow at the top and bottom for the colors commonly associated with queerplatonic relationships. The white and black are to show a connection to the aro/ace spectrum, since those two are colors that are commonly found in a lot of flags on that spectrum.

[Note: the original design was yellow, pink, white, black stripes, but was changed because it looked too close to the Polar- designs]

Sun and Moon Lesbian are aesthetic descriptors lesbians can choose for themselves. There’s no concrete definition of them, it’s more like what reminds you most of yourself or describes you best, or you find most aesthetically pleasing.

I’ve also heard they’re inspired by the space alignments for nb, but with a focus on lesbians and not necessarily limited to just nb lesbians. Example, sun lesbian is either a butch lesbian or a solarian nb lesbian. Moon lesbian could be either a femme lesbian or a lunarian nb lesbian. It’s meant to allow for aligned for lesbian without feeling like needing to strictly conform to the ideas of butch or femme.

Alipstick lesbian is slang for a lesbian who exhibits a greater amount of feminine gender attributes relative to other gender expressions, such as wearing make-up (thus, lipstick), wearing dresses or skirts and having other characteristics associated with feminine women. In popular usage, the term lipstick lesbian is also used to characterize the feminine gender expression of bisexual women who are romantically or sexually interested in other women.

Term coined by: The term lipstick lesbian was used in San Francisco at least as far back as the 1980s. In 1982, Priscilla Rhoades, a journalist with the gay newspaper The Sentinel, wrote a feature story on “Lesbians for Lipstick”. In 1990, the gay newspaper OutWeek covered the Lesbian Ladies Society, a Washington, D.C.–based social group of “feminine lesbians” that required women to wear a dress or skirt to its functions. The term is thought to have emerged in wide usage during the early 1990s. A 1997 episode of the television show Ellen widely publicized the phrase. In the show, Ellen DeGeneres’s character, asked by her parents whether a certain woman is a “dipstick lesbian”, explains that the term is lipstick lesbian, and comments that “I would be a chapstick lesbian.” An alternate term for lipstick lesbian is doily dyke.

Pluralian /plo͝or’əl’ēən/

Noun:

1.One who is attracted to more than one gender; an umbrella term for being attracted to more than one gender, regardless of one’s gender identity (similar to “sapphic,” “achillean,” and “enbian”)
“The pluralian decided to date John, because he just broke up with Marie”

2.One who prioritizes, or is proud of, all of the genders to whom they are attracted equally; one who celebrates their multiple attraction (similar to certain usages of “sapphic,” “achillean,” and “enbian”)
“I am proud of the fact that I like boys and nonbinary people,” Carol declared, “So I guess I’m pluralian.”

3.The community of people who are attracted to more than one gender; the “mspec” community
“The pluralian community consists of bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, and other people attracted to more than one gender.”

Adjective:

1.A descriptor of the attraction someone who is attracted to multiple genders feels towards anyone of any gender; similar to “gay,” “straight,” or “diamoric”
“My love for Jen was so pluralian,” Scout sighed, “As was my love for Alex…”

Term coined by: Unknown

[Image: Flag with 3 stripes: Lavender, white, lavender. In the center stripe is a yellow-brown lily flower which looks like a banana peel with grass growing out of the center].

Full size [There is none because I can’t enlarge drawings]

Designed by: Unknown

Color meanings: The purple symbolizes neutrality, or combination of attraction to multiple genders (as pink and blue typically symbolize woman and man). The white middle symbolizes that neutrality further, indicating a lack of definitive preference or prioritization amongst one’s attractions. The lily in the middle was chosen as the lily is a true bisexual flower; in the sense that it has both androecium and gynoecium reproductive structures, allowing it to reproduce with all other flowers of their species - no lily is limited to any other lily in terms of reproduction. The yellow of the lily’s petals symbolizes, in addition, the inclusion of nonbinary genders in pluralian attraction (as purple could imply an exclusion thereof).

materialsscienceandengineering: Tunable and mechanically robust ferroelectric ionic plastic crysta

materialsscienceandengineering:

Tunable and mechanically robust ferroelectric ionic plastic crystals

New research by a group from Hokkaido University in Japan has shown that the plastic ionic crystal, quinuclidinium perrhenate, has ferroelectric properties and can serve as a model for finding new plastic ionic crystals that demonstrate ferroelectricity with directional tunability. Their work appears in Nature Chemistry.

Ferroelectric materials are spontaneously polarizable. The polarity of ferroelectric materials can be reversed by placing the material in an inverted external electric field. This ability to switch the material’s polarity has been used for several applications including memory devices. Organic ferroelectric materials, in particular, are of interest because they are non-toxic and easier to make than their inorganic counterparts.

However, there are several obstacles to practical application of organic ferroelectric crystals. Each crystal in a substance can be polarized only along its polarization axis, which is dependent on the molecular dipole orientation within the crystal. For effective performance of ferroelectric materials, the polarization axis of the individual crystals in a substance must align in a particular direction. In contrast to the high symmetry seen in inorganic ferroelectrics, the low symmetry in organic crystals has made it difficult to fabricate ferroelectric materials with their polarization axes aligned in the desired direction.
