1) drawing - quickly done because…
2) the waves were coming
3) looks deceptive, a nice bit of beach
(zoom in and you’ll note surfers out at the breakers)
4) a few quick pieces up, looking for more
5) and then… 6) maybe five feet dry behind me
7) hey, look, a rock to build on

very high tides just now on the coast, 9.2 ft high tide slated for two hours AFTER these pictures were taken - no beach at all to stand on by then, logs are being pushed up against the cliff face.

Mr. Science shows campers the amazing By-the-Wind Sailor, a common find a #oceanbeach and along the shores of the Pacific! Like the Portuguese Man-o-war, it is not one organism but a colony of hydroids, tiny relatives of sea anemones. They drift along the ocean’s surface, being blown by their “sail.” While their tentacles are usually harmless to humans, some people may react differently.
