Seeing it had been reblogged by Hank made me one of the happiest girls, so I thought I would make a thank you paper cut Hanklerfish.

I hope you all like it, just a quick little one. As always, suggestions welcome! :)

I have started a series of paper cuts using some of my favourite quotations, and this is the first.

The quotation is ‘My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations’ from the novel 'The Fault in our Stars’ by John Green.

If you have any requests for quotes you would like to see turned into paper cuts then please ask.

Some of you may remember when I made my own paper cut book cover for ‘Looking for Alaska’, and I decided today that I should make my own one for 'The Fault in Our Stars’ as well. :)

As you can see from the second photo it is cut by hand with a craft knife from a single sheet of card. For the design I opted for Hazel and Gus holding hands, with Gus’s cigarette clasped between his fingers too. I hope you like it. :)

Obviously this piece isn’t for sale, however there is lots of my other work for sale in my shop here.

“Last night in the fields
I lay down in the darkness to think about death,
but instead I fell asleep,
as if in a vast and sloping room
filled with those white flowers
that open all summer, sticky and untidy,
in the warm fields.
When I woke the morning light was just slipping
in front of the stars,
and I was covered with blossoms.
I don’t know how it happened—
I don’t know if my body went diving down
under the sugary vines in some sleep-sharpened affinity
with the depths, or whether that green energy
rose like a wave and curled over me, claiming me
in its husky arms.
I pushed them away, but I didn’t rise.
Never in my life had I felt so plush, or so slippery,
or so resplendently empty.
Never in my life had I felt so near
that porous line
where my own body was done with
and the roots and the stems and the flowers
began.” ~Mary Oliver
