Mailed out a letter to Sweden today, as well as postcard swaps to Ukraine , New Zealand , Belgium , India , Algeria , Portugal , Spain , the Netherlands , Malaysia , Italy , France , Finland , USA , Canada , Poland , China and Germany . Yes, that’s right, I’m back from my long swapping hiatus!
Last week, this letter with a beautifully drawn owl arrived all the way from USA. Thank you, my dear Kaylee! It’s so great to read your news, dear.
This blog has been dead for a year already. I wasn’t active as I decided to use less of social media and focused more on my well-being. Not long after my last post, I was institutionalized and had to work my way back into recovery. I was lucky to have the support of my mum, my soul sister, my colleagues and especially my penpals. My penpals have never failed to check on me, write to me, sent me care packages, just to ensure I feel loved and never alone. I wrote a lot of letters too. With social media, almost always I chose to show what I want people to see but with letters, I can be vulnerable and share my deepest thoughts with people who truly care enough to stay in my life, no matter how ugly life may be.
Now that I am feeling better, I decided to revive this blog. With the situation with CoVid-19, I am spending a lot of time at home and writing again.
I also moved to a new place last month so if anyone needs my updated address, please shoot me a PM!
Recently, I took up a few more new penpals to write to and restarted writing with an old pal. So, I made these envelopes while I patiently wait for their letters to arrive.
Stay safe, everyone!

I have close to 700 followers here on Tumblr. I can’t thank you enough for your support. But I need help from each and every one of you, if it’s possible!
I will be turning 31 on the 17th of December. My wish this year is very simple and I hope it isn’t too much to ask for.
I would love to receive as many postcards as possible before the 17th. The only catch is: It must be a view card of your city / country. No illustrations or whatsoever. So you are free to pick for me! Please include your name, country and Tumblr name. Please also help me to reblog this so more people can participate!
The best 10 cards will receive a card from me, either from Singapore or New Zealand (yes, I’ll be going there soon) of either one of the following nature: FOTW, GF or view cards.
Mail it to:

Does anybody want to be Pen Pals? I recently started doing it with a friend of mine and I’ve really enjoyed it and would love to get into it more. I love handwritten letters and pretentious wax seals so if you’re into that, let me know!

sending out some mail today, two postcards and a letter. fanning them out to look cute and cover addresses :3
postcard 1: black square by malevich, literally just a black square on a white background
postcard 2: black-and-white photo mosaic of three cool astrophysical objects, two galaxies and a nebula, photographed by the lowell observatory 42-inch refractor
letter: just a plain white security envelope with a silver and black wax seal on it
I really like the yellow and black floral print on the pepin vienna 1900 writing set box, so i used that and this blue woven blanket as my background. the blanket has these long fibers that get on everything and in everything, especially in my mouth, so i’m not sure why i haven’t thrown it away yet.
Hello stationary friends (assuming you are not on a bus or train). Let’s talk stationery.
I love writing letters and postcards to my friends. I always have.
It’s a cheap, fun hobby where I can write by hand little messages to let others know I’m thinking of them.
Letters don’t have to be fancy. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on stationery or a fountain pen or vintage stamps to send meaningful, heartfelt letters. Postcards are often super cheap (less than a dollar in most places) or you can use printer paper or lined looseleaf if your handwriting gets a bit wandery on blank paper. I have hoarded postcards from every random place I’ve traveled (including highway rest stops in the middle of Maine) and have dozens at this point. My favorite pen for a long time was one I found under my desk in a high school classroom. And stamps for postcards are cheaper than normal stamps, but all in all, stamps are probably the most expensive part of correspondence. For a while, I kept all my writing supplies in a wax paper envelope from the post office that my stamps came in, and upgraded to an empty chocolate box when my collection started growing. I repeat: Not. Expensive.
That being said, I have also slowly started accumulating stationery and pens, both for correspondence and for bullet journaling, according to my style of letter-sending. I buy things here and there as they show up on sale or when I want to splurge a little. I also pool resources, sharing washi tape and pens with my sister in exchange for stickers from her truly enormous collection. Getting some friends together and having a mailing party can be the best way to try out sealing wax or brush pens before buying them yourself!
Here are some places with stationery I really love. I often find them in bookshops and museum stores, as well as stationery chains like Paper Source or Papyrus, but you can also find them at big chain stores Barnes & Noble and Anthropologie, which are both starting to branch out more into paper goods.

^ haven’t tried these yet, but I see them everywhere and they look like a good solution if you want to write letters but don’t know what to write
I’m not so fussy about pens, and prefer ballpoint for envelopes and postcards, as I know they won’t smudge if the mail gets wet. Fountain pens are a rabbit hole I haven’t fallen down yet, and frankly, I think nice handwriting will shine through, whatever pen you use.
Here is my favorite website for learning good penmanship, or just a new style if you want to branch out: https://loopsandtails.com/
I also don’t decorate my envelopes a lot. I really like pretty, functional things and am not so much into embellishment. I’ll do some washi tape or a sticker, and a wax seal occasionally, and write out the address nicely. However, I don’t have the patience to do a lot of extra doodling, and collecting scraps of paper and ephemera for decorating with honestly stresses me out.
I don’t know where to buy vintage stamps, but the post office has a bunch of cool ones that rotate out depending on the season and the clerks are often really chill with letting me sift through them to pick ones I like. Go at a slow time if you’re planning to do that, though, as the post office line can get pretty long. They only have one (or two?) styles of postcard stamps, and one or two styles of international stamps. I like to carry postcard stamps with me in my bag so I can mail letters from wherever when I’m out and about. I actually keep them in the back pocket of my bullet journal and have a couple pages in the front of the journal which act as my address book.
So get out there and start writing!
I finally did it! After a good year of saving up I decided to treat myself for Christmas this year and get a pair of Dr. Martens Jadon max boots! I’m so excited!!
