#current read

LIVE

Current Read is Daring Greatly by Brene Brown! So many people have recommended this book, and I’m excited to finally read it!

Current Read is The End Of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe! This is a reread for me, and I think I like it even more the second time around!

Current Read is A Court Of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas! I know I’m late to the party on this one, but I’m loving it so far!

Maybe eventually we will just drop out of each other’s lives, or become friends after all, or something else. But whatever happens will at least be the result of this experiment, which feels at times like it’s going badly wrong, and at other times feels like the only kind of relationship worth having.

Weekend alone to myself just means me getting really stoned & reading.

21 books I want to read in 2021

Today to share some of the books I am looking forward to reading this year. I have had some of these books for a few years, and others have been recent purchases, but all of these are books I really want to get through this year.

Some standouts:

1. The Secret History; my most recent read. This is one book I picked up because it seemed like this cult classic, especially over on Tumblr. I must say, it definitely lived up to the hype.

2. Winter in Sokcho; a book I picked up last year because I thought the cover was pretty

3. The Smell of Starving Boys; A book I picked up from @gaystheword 3 years ago. I’ve been wanted to read it ever since, but the mood never seemed to be right?

4. The Priory of the Orange Tree; this book comes highly recommended by a lot of my friends, and it’s one of 3 chunky books I want to get through this year.

YOU DIDN’T THINK I’D MISS TAKING A SELFIE + SHELFIE WHEN I FINALLY HAVE A DECENT MINI-LI

YOU DIDN’T THINK I’D MISS TAKING A SELFIE + SHELFIE WHEN I FINALLY HAVE A DECENT MINI-LIBRARY IN MY BEDROOM NOW, RIGHT?

Of course not. But to give this photo an excuse for a good purpose, here’s my current read: the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. I’m 700 pages in and enjoying it! Theo Decker is a wonderfully flawed (albeit unlikable) character and I’m captivated by the way he handles the slew of thoughts and memories in his head. It gives the narration a very real feel to it, almost as if the text is part of a transcript of some obsessed kid’s free-flowing thoughts.

The book’s a big doorstopper, though, and I could only plough through it slowly because I’ve got just my shuttle bus rides to work and an hour before bedtime as my reading time these days. :(

How about you guys? What are you reading?

Not Patrick Bateman listening to rap music-

Bro is a racist but loves Whitney Houston and is listening to rap music? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE BUDDY-

My red flag is annotating my copy of American Psycho-

A lil rant. I started this book in February. It is now June and I’m almost done with the book. If you are going to read this book, make sure you take breaks because reading the racism, homophobia and the murders described in painful detail can be very overwhelming at times. Movie Patrick Bateman is nothing compared to the book Patrick Bateman… I thought him listening to rap music was funny tho.
