what reconciles me to my own death more than anything else is the image of a place: a place where your bones and mine are buried, thrown, uncovered, together. they are strewn there pell-mell. one of your ribs leans against my skull. a metacarpal of my left hand lies inside your pelvis. (against my broken ribs your breast like a flower.) the hundred bones of our feet are scattered like gravel. it is strange that this image of our proximity, concerning as it does mere phosphate of calcium, should bestow a sense of peace. yet it does. with you i can imagine a place where to be phosphate of calcium is enough.
D’you ever think about Harry was 13 and Remus Lupin was the first person who would ever really answer his questions about his parents? I mean, Hagrid gave him, like, “Yeah, they were great,” but that’s not the same thing. Remus was the first person who could tell stories about what his parents were actually like…
And here’s poor Remus, like on the one hand he could tell this kid so many stories–but on the other hand he doesn’t want to let on just how close he was to James, partially because he doesn’t want to get too close to Harry and risk at least one of them getting hurt, partially because he doesn’t want to have to spend too much time with those memories, partially the last thing he needs is to remind people he used to be BFFs with the famous escaped criminal currently stalking the school.
But on the other hand, Harry deserves to know, he deserves to know his parents and this is apparently the closest he’s gonna get, so he does his best anyway. And Harry’s so used to having questions and not getting them answered. He wasn’t allowed to ask questions of the Dursleys, and most of the teachers were apt to tell him not to worry his little head way too often, and Dumbledore at least half lied to him a lot of the time… when Harry finds someone who will answer his questions, that person is always going to be one of his Special People.
Point being–I just really need more of Harry’s relationship with Remus, because there’s so much potential there and they never had a chance and I have feelings.

I want a short story on Fred and George staring at this blank piece of paper and trying to figure out why Filch would label it “Dangerous”. Then I want them going through every possible variation of “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” before actually hitting the right words.
Example: “I promise I’m gonna fuck shit up.”
Mr. Moony would like to ask Messrs. Weasley why they think such foul language is necessary to accomplish mischief.
Mr. Wormtail would like to inform Messrs. Weasley that they are getting warmer.
Mr. Padfoot would like to high five Messrs. Weasley.
Mr. Prongs would like to have a pint with Messrs. Weasley as they seem just like his kind of people. As long as they solemnly swear it.
On the night of Teddy’s birth, Remus briefly left Tonks and his son in the charge of his mother-in-law, so that he could go and find Harry for the first time since their angry confrontation. Here, he asked Harry to be Teddy’s godfather, feeling nothing but forgiveness and gratitude towards the person who had sent him home to the family that gave him his greatest happiness.

He didn’t go door to door to notify all the Order members that Teddy was born. He didn’t even go out to tell his own parents.
In his absolute jubilation, the ONE PERSON he wanted to see? Harry.
Because it was a war.People were dying and rounded up. Everyone was in danger.
Remus left because he needed to make a very specific sort of amends with Harry. Because Remus knew Harry would tear himself to bits about the way they’d parted, even if he had been right.
Harry, who had no family, whom Remus needed to thank for mending his.
Remus needed to make sure Harry knew his family was safe and whole, that the baby was healthy, and he needed to thank Harry.
And he wanted to make sure Harry was godfather. It made no difference to a newborn Teddy, who his godfather was. But it made all the difference to Harry, and all the difference to Remus.
Remus even did it in a way that wouldn’t embarrass Harry. He didn’t–he knew if he’d asked Harry to step outside, or whatever. He didn’t demand a conversation, or make a grand apology, or give a big thank you. That would’ve been so awkward for both of them. He just casually asked, made it seem like a convenient thing to settle while he visited with everyone.
But no, he specifically sought out Harry to share this little bit of his life with, and to make amends with, and that means everything.
