Happy Spring!

Nellie and Sam are all dressed up and enjoying a tea party with their dolls! ☀️

Samantha’s second abridged book, Lost and Found, is up for pre-order on Amazon! It releases on February 15th.

People hype up Samantha’s Classic meet outfit so much and talk about the great quality of it, so I expected it to be really nice, but after actually getting it, I’m really underwhelmed. It is very thin, and feels like it is about to rip in half. I understand her BeForever meet outfit’s appearance isn’t very well liked, but the quality is a million times better in my opinion. That said, I do love the look of her old dress, I just wish it was a bit thicker.

Guess who’s back?

It’s Samantha!

I sent my 2008 Sam to the Doll Hospital for a new head, and she returned today.

I have to say, I was quite surprised that they gave her a BeForever head instead of a historical head, but honestly, I think I prefer this one! It looks to be an earlier one, from around 2014.

She has vibrant face paint and very thick bangs! She even came with her BeForever meet ribbon, which was a fun bonus.

I don’t believe I ever posted this photo of Samantha!

Yesterday I sent Sam off for a new head! I did my best to fix her hair, but it was just so dry and crunchy that I decided to send her off. I bought her knowing I’d eventually send her in, so I’m excited to see her results!

Finally got around to recurling Samantha’s hair! I’m quite pleased with the result, though I accidentally curled her front strands the opposite direction than the rest of her hair.

She’s looking much more like Sam now!

Launching my Etsy shop started with an idea and grew with a “sketch” from my dad of some popple trees on a hill for my first logo.  The fairy series was my first foray into really intricate designs.  It was so much fun to add each piece to the costumes to make a real fairy outfit.

Another big change this year was the addition of a photo studio, allowing me to take great, professional(-ish) photos that didn’t depend on it not being too hot, cold, or wet outside.  I like how the fairies are in the natural background, but the ones in the photo studio with the white background are clearly more professional.

And the growth of my company, Popple Hill Studios!  I’ve been branching out into some woodworking projects and designing doll clothes patterns, so watch for those in the coming year.  In addition, I’ve now had some actual sales on my Etsy shop, which is very exciting!  I really hope my customers like their orders.

Here’s to growing in the new year ahead….

My New Photography Setup In Progress

As the weather turns colder and rain becomes a possibility, while the sun continues to set earlier and earlier each day, a replacement for my makeshift outdoor photo studio has finally become necessary.  While the girls loved getting their photos taken in the evening light that so flattered their skin tone, they were starting to feel like it was a little chilly to be changing from one outfit to…

Last Days of Summer

Labor Day and Autumn are nearly upon us, but a heat wave approaches to remind us that Summer will still have its day in the sun.  Meanwhile, Samantha is taking advantage of the last days of Summer to wear her Dragonfly Fairy Costume.  Labor Day means a switch to Fall weather clothing and possibly an Autumn Fairy Costume, as well as the much anticipated Back to School! I loved school when I was a…

am i crazy or do these two samantha’s look different?

for context, the one on the left is mine that i got in 2014 when she was first released. the one on the right was given to me by my boyfriends sister. both are beforever samantha’s, and both have the 2014 tag. the new one came in the beforever box and the neck stamp is american girl. i feel like the one on the right is fatter and her eyes are spread apart farther. is there a reason for this?

Grandmary: Hey, Samantha do you know the difference between a table and an ottoman?

Samantha: Sure I do.

Grandmary: Then take your feet off the table

Interesting that Samantha and Molly’s dresses wound up being their school sets instead!

I also propose we start using “arrival outfit” instead of meet outfit, it’s a lot less clumsy and awkward-sounding

Eons ago, someone had all the songs from the AG Christmas CD uploaded for downloads. That link is long dead, and unfortunately I long lost my copy of the songs (screw you apple itunes). The songs on the CD still don’t seem to be anywhere online, and copies of the CD are going for Weirdly High Prices, so I thought I’d try to fix that.

I snatched up a cheaper CD I saw for sale online, and I’m still working to see if I can get the songs extracted. In the meantime, I scanned the booklet and uploaded it onto the Internet Archive! You can download the PDF or read it in the browser.

Merry Christmas!
