Good morning Monday! Hello Oak - The Nordic Journal – Volume 5. Oak – the Nordic Journal is a biannual magazine with an international reach that covers Nordic food, design, craftsmanship and lifestyle – and the people who create it. In the fifth issue of OAK, The Love Issue, they invite you to delve into the magazine’s first hardback edition, celebrating inspiring people of the Nordic regions, design, ideas and great escapes. Amongst this issue’s many interesting profiles, you will meet the cover stars, singer Oh Land and her artist partner in life and love, Eske Kath, who talk about seeing eye to eye creatively and unplugging from a hectic everyday life in New York to become parents. Unplugging is also something songstress Emma Acs knows a thing or two about after having overcome depression early on in her musical career, while chef Claus Meyer is simply out to change the world with his latest culinary endeavours in New York, nothing less. You can read the extensive interviews with both in The Love Issue, as well as dream away to the apple festival of Lilleø Island, become acquainted with the Danes’ unyielding love of their iron horses (bikes, that is), and dive into The Wadden Sea’s blue mysteries – one of the richest ecosystems in the world with a biologic productivity equal to that of the Amazon. Ultimately, OAK volume five really is all about love: Love of the crafts, the transformation of textiles and raw materials into wondrous design of tomorrow. Love of the people who make the magic, and love of this Northern part of the world we call home, with its summer scents of apple blossoms, pines and salty seawater filling the air. And naturally – lest anyone forget – love of print. Now available in our store!

The Norwegians have their bunads.

And the Swedes have their color coded national costume.

Denmark has a ton of different national costumes but we don’t use them as a national symbol like the other Scandinavians and therefore never agreed on a general style.

Should it ever come to that I vote that we take inspiration from this cool top hat look from Ringrøbing.

Or this look from Strude

(they only wore the mask to protect their faces from harsh wind and cold though. It came off when the weather was nice as seen in the background)

I’d be down with wearing a top hat with lace around my ears or go full ninja on national holidays.

BOI

Guess who played the new God of War :3

I also tried my hand at a bit of Bob-Rossing for the background hehe
