December 10 1950, Human Rights day was first celebrated.
Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The formal inception of Human Rights Day dates from 1950, after the Assembly passed a resolution inviting all States and interested organisations to adopt 10 December of each year as Human Rights Day.

It is a tradition on Sweden’s National Day (6th June) that the public are allowed to visit the Royal Palace without paying the entrance fee. To mark this tradition, a member of the royal family symbolically opens the door to the palace. This role is rotated amongst the family and this year Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel will take it on. In the past children have sometimes joined this event so we may also see Estelle and Oscar. Excluding their virtual door opening in 2020, this will be the first time the duty has fallen to the Crown Princess and her family since 2013.
